Daily Driver 1968 Valiant... The Little Things
We touch on the idea of what it really takes to keep up ANY car, and that every step we make with our classic cars is not nitrous and burnouts... daily drivers need really mundane and annoying upkeep too. Lets fix this shifter issue on our '68

I happen to like the little slant six engine.... so in my spare time used a four speed out of another dodge rig, a car transmission and then started on the engine... Ain't the internet just wonderful.. Ha ha. I ordered a turbo for a slant six setup.... well just a small turbo and put it on a four barrel intake from a speed shop in that town. They had it on their shelf forever so I just made a casual low ball offer as its a starting place. to my surprise, they snapped it up and even gave me some other pieces and parts once they heard my plan. It took a bit to do some welding of the piping but lets just say my smile on my face once running was as wide as the grill in your rig. Granted, the rig I was using for this project was a D100 and a pickup transmission just wasn't for me so that car transmission was great upgrade. I had it running really good and after blowing off some of the piping a few times got a little help from another guy who had more toys to play with. Lets say when you near lift the front tires off of the ground do to a diff locker rear end and wide tires, it had a good amount of traction if you could keep them from spinning right off of the rims. I went from the sickly one hundred Shetland ponies to a mighty little mule as I am just guessing at the power... about four hundred plus, my local speed shop said way more than what I am saying so I am on the conservative side. Not only a lot more power but it went from the twelve or a touch more miles per gallon to about twenty three miles per gallon. No one ever laughs at it as we did the dual exhaust and thrush mufflers. I got a older dodge that had the american mags on it and that set the truck off
