I love this version I feel like the selected cast was perfect, especially for nick and gatsby. Paul Rudd was exactly how I expected nick to be, and something about Toby Stephens being gatsby made more sense than DiCaprio (which is crazy cus I love Leonardo DiCaprio). It's a shame there was bits cut, I feel like there wasn't a lot of shine on gatsbys illegal business

I loved this adaptation of Jane Eyre the most and I've seen quite a few .. It was especially magical seeing the chemistry between the two of them .

mira sorvino was not very good at playing daysy

this is a lot like the 70's version,but the girl who plays daysy sounds a lot like the actress from the origina movie,and the mirtle sounds like a little kid

Brutal. I always thought Paul Rudd would be a good Nick Carraway but this version with its omissions insults Fitzgerald's prose. Cringe worthy: "foul dust poisoned his dreams". Ugggh.

Carey Mulligan probably interpreted the best version of Daisy Buchanan so far.

There is omission in the upload of this version between this part(11) and the previous part(10). What is omitted is Gatsby's father and Nick's efforts to invite people to Gatsby's funeral and take of Gatsby's unfinished business. I highly recommend that you purchase the DVD from amazon.com, for only $5. It contains the entire movie, plus a biography of the author, F. Scott Fitzgerald, that is very enlightening and educational. I personally found this version most true to the book in its use of passages from the book and its interpretation of the characters. The acting is superb, but the actors fulfill the vision of the director, so perhaps the complaints about bad acting is a mismatch of the viewer's visualization of the book versus what this version presents, but for me, it is right on, except I don't personally find Mia Sorvino so attractive as to have caused all that adoration on Gatsby's part, but she is an Oscar winning actress, and Toby Stephens is one of the most underrated actors of our time. He has acted well in every role he has ever played, and he is different in every role, that you may not even realize it is the same person, because he is so able to express so many different emotions and accents and voice tones...If he were in America, he would have gone farther like Paul Rudd(Nick) has, as he is very well respected in England and Europe, where he spent much of his career doing theater, which he preferred.

I think fitzgerald would have liked the 2013 Version of Gatsby best, I mean he himself refered to the Jazz age as the "age of excess" and an "age of miracles". His novel is written so metaphorical and imaginative, he was all about the Boom -effect, the rush, the ill- fated glamor of the ROARING! twenties. Baz Luhrmans Adaption perfectly portrayed the feeling of it - since you amost feel like you're drunk and partying in the 20s yourself while watching it . This movie seems so spiritless and slow in comparison. It is also quiet good, but to me it merely outlines the "outward appearance" of everything back then, it does not give you an idea of the Zeitgeist, how it felt to live in this decade, like the novel aimed to do

Having seen 3 'Great Gatsby' movies (not the Alan Ladd) I can honestly say this is the best. I think Redford is terrific but the rest of the cast let him down . DiCaprio I thought was too wooden, just not sensitive enough for this story (although again I admire DiCaprio as an actor. With this Toby Stephens 'Great Gatsby' everyone in the cast seemed just right.
