Off-road motorbike adventure on my Yamaha Tenere 700 in Lazio, Italy.
This video is about my ride with Marco in Lazio, Italy.
We ride from Nepi to Tarquinia off-road.
The track follows an abandoned railway path, a rocky gravel road next to the river and finally ends with a panoramic route next to an ancient aqueduct into Tarquinia.
There are several cows and horses too. No harm done to nature neither to animals and riders. And motorbikes neither. No harm done at all, we are pacifists.

Motorcycle foldable mirror comparison and test - off-road and honest review

This video is about my opinion of four different motorbike mirrors compared to each other. You can buy all four of them on any big internet shopping sites under different brands if you are searching for motorcycle mirrors, especially the foldable ones. I wasn't focused on specific brands. I compared the structures and usability of the four different mechanics and aesthetics. 0:00 What happened?...

      Thank you, I am happy you liked it! ✋🙂 The helmet camera is the DJI Osmo action 3 with RODE Go microphones for onboard narrations. There is the Insta360 One RS for 360 footages... this is a bit old, I will need the X4 if I will get the budget for that. The drone is the DJI Mini3 Pro and the camera on the other bike is the Insta360 AcePro. There are also some footages from my Pixel phone as well. All stitched together with Davinci Resolve 19 software.

      @braapt7 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you, I am happy you liked my video! ✋🙂 Why not the high mount exhaust? Well, I guess I didn't drop my bike on the right side as much as on the left side yet. 😁 But yes, I bent the OEM mount already, but still intact, although a bit cracked, bent and worn. I am planning to upgrade it, but not sure yet, which one: the MiVV Dakar or the HPCorse? Why did you choose the MiVV? (I think I will grab that one too, in black color. I think it has better -deeper- sound than HPCorse.)

    • @johanneswilhelm10
      @johanneswilhelm10 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@braapt7 For me, sound is very important (detemines if I like a bike or not, no joke) and the mivv dakar absolutely nailed it. Can only recommend the Mivv Dakar it sounds like a beast. People say it's a bit on the louder side and I kinda agree, BUT you can absolutely ride it quietly. The installation is also pretty straight forward, no sawing off parts like with the camel adv enduro kit. Price is also fair. Would definitely buy it again. I have no idea why one should choose the HPCorse.. I can confidently recommend you the Mivv Dakar. I measured how loud the exhaust is, and it reached about 93-94 db when revving to 5k RPM. I am not sure where you are from, but if you plan to ride in tirol austria, it might get tricky since only 95 db are allowed on the majority of motorcycle favourable roads. I am also not that tall (174 cm) which is why I swapped out a month later after getting the bike. Hope that helps

      @johanneswilhelm10 Thank you for the info, yes, indeed, it helped a lot. Now I am sure my next upgrade will be the MiVV Dakar, even if the loudness might be an issue in some situations. @johanneswilhelm10 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    • @braapt7
      @braapt7 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you, I am happy you liked my little video! ✋🙂 These boots are super sturdy, but at same time comfy as well - due the memory foam inside. Walking in it isn't bad, but since it limits your ankle movement, it's a bit awkward. I usually walk in them 3-400 meters to my bike and back home after the rides, and it's all right. However, I wouldn't like to climb a 15-20 minutes hike up to a monument or a castle in a forest path. Maybe Sidi or Alpinestars is more comfortable for the hikes - just with a bit less protection compared to the SG12.

    Great review and well made video! I'm glad you are okay after the fall on the truck tire. I have been trying to find good used pair of SG12's in my size because they are much less expensive. However, do you think used boots would be a problem because the memory foam in the boots has permanently formed to the unique shape of someone else's feet?

    • @braapt7
      @braapt7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much, I am happy you liked it! ✋🙂 I am not sure about the permanent shape holding of the foam since I ride every week in it. Maybe over longer rest it resets, not sure. However, I noticed that the ankle bone inprints are pretty firmly shaped into the foam, even after a week, it clearly kept the shape. So I think if the seller's feet are similar to yours, the foam will set to your shape over some time period, but if you have much different bone structure, it might be an issue, yes.

      Thank you so much, I am happy you liked my little video! ✋🙂 Finding time to edit a video is really annoying at riding season, I have so many footages on the HDD, but there is so much more to ride... decisions, decisions. 😁 The mirror is from amazon, I think it is the same no brand you can find on aliexpress or any other noname part webshops. It worked for me pretty fine for two and a half year, it survived a tons of branch hits forest offroads, drops of the motorbike and other abuses. The right one just felt off a week ago. The plastic part at the joint broke about a year ago, the middle metal part is kinda thin, yes, but it holded until now. (It shaked a bit more as before) I think it was OK for the price. And it looks cool with the SW-Motech handguards on the T7. =) Also you don't need a tool to fold it, just grab it and fold it in. Although it's not folding as much in as the round shape enduro mirrors, or the double folding mirrors.

I just returned from a solo raid in Morocco 3500km +1000km of road or 4500km RALLZ on the AJP. the mileage from one biker to another varies little but 4000km with an MT21 on a T700 is a miracle

Since it's OEM T7, I bet it's around 4200kms. I rode one rally on it in Italy, some TET in Italy, several rocky path rides, cca. 1500kms all together, another 1500kms on sand and mud and dirtroads, and the rest, cca. 1500kms on tarmac. I ride easy on tarmac, and yes, I got traction control and ABS in my hands. :) Also I am not riding too slow or easy on the bike offroad, you can see it in my other videos. And to sum all together: If I would ride the rocky roads of Morocco, I'd never pick this small tire, it wouldn't last long for sure. MotoZ, Mitas or Dunlop might be my pick as well for sure.

      @@braapt7 once again I am surprised, having been riding off road since 1995 on different single, two-cylinder motorcycles, all trails, I never exceeded 4500/5000km and even then they were at the end of their life, but often the return is on the road. the only person I know who is a friend and we did the TET PORTUGAL from France, i.e. 1600KM for the TET and the rest of the road, i.e. a total of 4600km in 2022 I was then with my T700 and he with a KM 690E both equipped with MOTOZ DESERT my rear tire was dead and his was 70% worn. But to be honest it drives much more quietly. I specify that for the MOTOZ DESERT, RALLZ, ADVENTURE I mounted them in 140/80/18 which is not the original dimension which is 150/70/18. the price is significantly more expensive in this dimension. In any case, congratulations for this achievement.

      Thank you so much! ✋🙂 And yes... the higher price range was why I picked the 140/80 r18 tires too. Since 1995 is a pretty nice and long experience! Unfortunately I had not much chance to participate on long time long distance adventures yet on rocky mountains like the Balkan or Morocco or Spain-Portugal, but I am sure for that journey I would pick the MotoZ or the Mitas tire for the terrain. Maybe the Dunlop 908rr, but definitely not the MT21 for the T7. :D

    I find it quite interesting that you say the MC23 and the MT21 are similar. Of course not the same, but similar. I put the MT21s on my hard enduro bike when I first got it and in the beginning I found them fine, but I soon realised that they had no grip on wet stuff whatsoever. Wet rocks, wet tarmac, wet gravel was a nightmare. Changed them out to some proper hard enduro tires, even tho they aren't even half worn. I thought about putting them on my T7 Extreme and blast them over the motocross track haha. For some hardcore ADV tires I guess the Mitas Trail XT and XT+ might be a good idea. People are absolutely raving about the front of the XT+. I might try them on a long trip through the south-east of europe in two months. Then again, we'll probably be pushing 10k km or more in that trip, so maybe I need something that lasts a bit longer. Ah man the struggles of choosing haha.

    • @braapt7
      @braapt7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the Mitas Trail XT+ is the bulletproof solid choice. Also the MotoZ is a good one, I heard about it's long lifetime but they say it's too hard and slippery on wet tarmac. Unfortunately I didn't have any of them yet. Since I ride usually on shorter journeys, many one day training days on short offroad tracks, I usually pick a weaker and much cheaper tire, this is why I used the MC23 and MT21. They are similar in the feel on the T7: just a little bit weak for the big bike to ride really hard and fast on it. Even so, they are pretty good for a slower technical trainings. Now I got the 908rr rear, it's much different of the smaller tires. Bites more harder and keeps the big bike much more firm at higher speed rides as well. Also more stable in muddy conditions.

    With this wide open air intake I would seriously consider a different ECU map. Otherwise your T7 might run with a too lean fuel/air mix now. And if you have a T7 with the monochrome dashboard take a look at the ABS Dongle from LSK to deactivate the rear ABS only.

    • @braapt7
      @braapt7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the tips! ✋🙂 I was worried about the lean mix too, so I took it to the official Yamaha dealer where I bought my T7. It is owned by an ex-superbike championship rider, so I have trust in his team as well. They checked the bike's statistics, and they sad the bike runs on optimal fuel/air mixture. What would be the symptoms if they were not right? I mean, when I ride, what should I feel, what should I see on the bike's behavior? Getting hot early? Knocking piston? Less power? I am not experienced much in this with the CP2 engine, and I have no tools to measure it at home myself, so I have to trust in the service. :( ( in witch I always have doubt, no matter what. :D ) About the ABS... I don't trust the ABS at all. I would throw it out if the regulations wouldn't need it on the bike. I can feel the brake better, I can control the brake better without it, I tested it. Front and rear. In all surface conditions. Yes, I am that experienced rider. :)

      Yes, they are, indeed! However, I was curious how it works with the big T7. And no wonder... they are a bit weak for her. :D But - as I sad in the video - if you are in no rush, and want just ride off road, focusing on technical rides, and not to destroy a super expensive tire, it can be a nice cheaper solution. It's manageable.

      @braapt7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Desert X, wow, what a legendary bike! I love it, congratulations. 💪😎 I used all the time full sets, this is my first mixed combination with tires. I just left the Pirelli MT 21 front, and put the Dunlop 908rr rear. Review comes later. ^^ Earlier I got Mitas mostly. I liked the MC23 Rockrider. Front was all right, but rear was a bit weak in sand and mud. No wonder, it's a Rockrider. :) I also got the E07. I really didn't like it in any circumstances. It was slippery on wet tarmac due hard compound, it was inferior in mud and deep sand compared to the other tires I used. The only advantage, it is sturdy and lives forever. :D I also got the TKC80... well, much better than E07, but worse than the others. These two will never come back on my wheels. And yes, MotoZ is my other choice, once I'll try the Desert version of that one later. I love the huge knobs! :D And if I'd live in the US I'd try the Tusk tires. They look pretty solid.

    I have the MT21 front with a Michelin Anakee Wild rear on my 2009 990 Adventure (on slimmer off road rims and the 140/18 dimension) and they have been extremely steady on the tarmac albeit the dry kind. Every knob on the side of the tire is used and worn, that's how good they turn (in these dimensions on my bike). On the wet the rear is almost unrideable which was a sock to me as I've grown to become very smooth with the throttle and the tire is quite soft. From those two the Pirelli is the harder compound and, in fact, I predict 3 rears to 1 front without me ridding like an absolute hooligan. However the MT21 front doesn't slip that much in the wet whereas the soft Michelin does (?). I might get the TKC80 rear next which I expect to last more than the 3K kms the Michelin lasted. The MT21s are basically a dual sport tire for medium weight motorcycles and I have previously fitted them on a 640 Adventure (a great fit there) and my current 500EXC which, I might say, weren't the best of experiences (especially the rear - the front is always good but there are better tires, in general, for lighter bikes like the 500EXC - enter Metzeler Six Days Extreme medium or the MIchelin Enduro F.I.M series tires).

    • @braapt7
      @braapt7 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the info! ✋🙂 Yes, I got about the same feelings about this tire. And as you did, I just dropped the rear, left the front one for another few thousand kilometers. I just put the Dunlop 908RR rear, and it's much better on this big bike as the MT21 was - for obvious reasons. Earlier I had the TKC80 on my other bike, but I wasn't satisfied with it. In mud and deep sand it was troublesome for me. Also the compound was somehow strange. Soft, but same time it cracked all over around the knobs. 🤷‍♀️

      I think it is. The full toe box thick leather is covered with sturdy plastic. The stitched sole has also extreme hold against longitudinal hits, and the metal toe keeps the sole layers together. This is the sturdiest pair of off-road motorcycle boots I ever saw. Not the best to feel and provide the smoothest movements between your motorbike and your feet, but it's sturdy like hell.
