I haven't shopped or donated to Goodwill for a long time because of this, I go to and donate to religious or other local thrift stores that everything is put out with low prices to truly benefit the community. Goodwill should be ashamed!

I worked for GOODWILL for about 6 months and found a better job. They have some serous issues. There charity of none profit is a joke. There purchasing product lots from a few sources like Amazon. I watched there prices go up and there pay scale and value in how they treat there employees went down; sub standard. I was told about getting a raise yet they kept pushing it back with excuses; they steal wages. About CEO that runs the Regional stores in my area or district in PA makes over $800,000 a yr while there computer systems are a joke. GOODWILL in to my opinion, not a true none profit and lost there true mission. The one store I work in had toxic issues with employees. Even toxic issues with materials, like clothing that had mold, you could smell it and they brought it out onto the sales floor.There are to many gray areas going on in the operations, one is quality. More I could say. I have been in retail for more then 45yrs, I have seen a lot over the yrs, but this took the cake.

I used to think that goodwill was an OK org. then I realized they were a FOR PROFIT org. which would be OK if in fact they still did the old mission, refurbish things like fix a lamp, or toaster and resell them at a fair price, and hired disabled or disadvantaged folks that still could produce. But now days that is not the case. they sell things at MARKET value. I mean 50.00 for a none running 20 yr. old lawn mower? Sorry NO MORE. I don't even go there to drop things off any more.

Does the non profit business include purchase the buildings? And real estate?

I’m a manufacturer overseas. 20 years ago we tried to get fulfillment work when we lived in LA. We went to goodwill industries since they were local and offered fulfillment services. They employ disabled workers as a program. We toured the facility and saw their disabled workers fulfillment center. At that time the conditions were in a dark and dirty warehouse. The workers didn’t seem mistreated but the conditions were not good. They were packing tampons into boxes that day. We asked about their wages etc and the director said “no one has ever asked us this”. We left horrified and couldn’t ethically support this organization and profit from its labor. They’re offering disability jobs but it looked more like a for profit biz much like prison labor set ups.

People "donate" for different reasons, but it alls goes back to trying to help someone else out. That is being violated by this practice. They use a fine sieve when it comes to donations.....very fine indeed

All the negative comments on this video are misguided. Just because something is donated doesn't mean you get it for free. They pay salaries and support programs that i doubt any of you even know about. I work at a ReUse center and people are so ignorant when they say this kind of stuff. Like the business itself is free to run all bc they have nonprofit status? Paying wages, benefits, overhead, and giving back. Maybe if people would stop overconsumption there wouldn't be a need for such large thrift operations. I thank the creator of this video for giving us a look behind the scenes but most of the viewers are obviously not very well educated on business and how running one actually works.

And yet all the everyday stuff is still overcharged in the stores.

I have donated to Goodwill once. I was moving to a new house and was downsizing. I loaded my van with a lot of very good items that my wife and I didn't plan to use any move. I took it to a local Goodwill store and told the first lady I saw that I had a lot of items I would like to donate. Two other ladies heard what I sad and the three came out to my van. When I raised the tailgate it was almost like a fight had started. Each of the ladies started saying, I want that, I want that, I want that. I let them get everything out of the van and that was the last time I ever took anything to Goodwill. For the last 24 years I have given the Salvation Army all my usable donations and no junk.

@Tyce Tyce Baby You should do another video on exactly what Goodwill charges for shipping! It's literally HIGHWAY ROBBERY!! You can find their shipping charges just by going on their site to any auction and click on the check shipping button. 99.9% of the time, I remember to check because I got screwed.... REALLY SCREWED a few years back. But last month, i forgot to check and had a shipping charge of $96.29 FOR A PAIR OF SHOES!!! ABSOLUTELY 100% ROBBERY!!! I complain to them often. Each time, they say that their shipping charges are set by Fed Ex. Well... I worked in shipping for a major high end retail store FOR YEARS and understand shipping charges. When I worked in shipping, i could only come up with the correct shipping charge if I put in the correct info. But when they input 8 pounds for a 1 pound pair of shoes.... the right cost won't come up!! So.... it's their own doing because it HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!!! THEY'RE 1 MILLION PERCENT SCREWING THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! Ive often thought about calling the problem solvers about them! THEY PURPOSEFULLY DO THIS!!! IT NEEDS TO BE STOPPED!

He lied about what they do with 100% of their profits. They pay their upper management in the millions BEFORE they parcel out what’s left over after that…

See, I understand that they have programs, and Goodwill's sales goes towards this. Their sells made from the lower/borderline mid-middle class consumers! However, whenever the people donate their items, they are aware of Goodwill's programs, but they also are aware of why Goodwill started from the very beginning. That's to help families who aren't able to afford nicer and newer clothes. I truly feel that Goodwill has forgotten their own motto and what their intentions started as. Compared to what their intentions are now. Which is becoming a THRIFT STORE. Trying to cut out resellers means you are cutting out all of your other nonreselling customers. "Our customers won't be able to afford a 20k watch." Double standard and hypocritical, in my opinion. If the donated community wanted their more expensive items to be sold online at the "unsold, unverified, untrained, and overpriced Ebay lookup price." I'm sure they would've done that themselves whether or not if they knew the worth of their FREE donated item. It's not like they didn't know that they owned a Rolex, Gucci, Michael Kors, etc. item, anyhow. Give me a break! Goodwill has turned a THRIFT STORE into choosing GREED over the less fortunate that has allowed the top of their pyramid chain to get paid more, become richer, and brings home wealth to provide for their families. While they're selling to the lower classed citizens!! Disgusting! The BBB needs to investigate GOODWILL because of their discrimatory acts of using the less fortunate & free donations as a coverup to make the upper class richer. Ugh!

Ever since I saw the HEAD DUDE of Goodwill on something like 60Minutes or 20/20, I HAVE BEEN DISGUSTED BY HIS ARROGANCE & the way DISABLED workers were discharged (fired from jobs at goodwill) because they worked to slowly. In 13 yrs I have not shopped at goodwill since.

I've found some good stuff at Goodwills where wealthier people live. This usually means Dallas, Austin, Georgetown. The Goodwills in my area mostly suck.

The reason Goodwill is a nonprofit is because upper management consumes whatever's left over after they pay the light bill. This is after they reduce everybody's work week to 30 hours so they don't have to pay benefits. Wake up, Phil.

Goodwill is scum they get their items for free. They ask for the max retail for the good stuff on their website. They say nonprofit, but their profits go into the pockets of all the CEOs and the higher ups. never buy from Goodwill again.

I don't even care about the big ticket donations you want top dollar for these days. I went to the website and as per usual you've doubled the original retail price for heavily used items. When I go into the local stores I see acres of clothing priced higher than can be obtained on sale at Walmart or Target. My wife pointed out how women's clothing was priced more expensive than men, in a state where women make 60% less than men. You'd think none of you ever had to put yourself through college on burger flipper salaries. I fail to see any goodwill in anything you're doing.

Biggest takeaway, work for yourself and resell. All these employees making their CEOs dreams reality while the employees agreed to hourly wages.

The TH-camrs are a victim of their own stupidity by going onto TH-cam and telling everyone to go Goodwill and get items cheap at Goodwill and resell them. Are they so stupid they didn't think that Goodwill wasn't going to start selling items on Ebay?

I worked several Goodwill Outlet Stores in the early 2000s through a temp agency when I was between long-term warehouse jobs. Honestly, nothing left the back of the outlets to corprate. No shipment going out. The only sorting that took place was the bin's for glass items and breakables. After that was done. It went straight out of the back doors to the front of the stores for customers. And dumped out onto the tables for customers. Yes, Goodwill did work with resellers. They'd often buy a full bin sight unseen. Although I don't know what they paid for it. That wasn't my job description to know. But we'd load up a semi or two for them. And despite what Goodwill says. They are a for-profit organization. They have been apart of several class action suits. Because they do some sneaky tricks with 401 non-profit rules at the corporate level. If you really want to do good for your local community. Give to local churches.

Greedwill. They should get their "non-profit" status revoked asap. Hopefully one day we'll see the IRS and the SEC investigating them since they are scamming the IRS out of millions and cheating their customers.... wouldn't be suprised if some store managers are taking these donations to resell on Ebay. Not going there anymore and people need to stop donating to them.

They are succeeding at cutting out the reseller. Their non profit status should be revoked or new laws governing the taxation of income set at a particularly level such as a million a year.

They have been scaming big time the ceo has been the takeing stuff to auctions and pocketing the cash, most of the money doesn't go to helping folk it lines people's pockets, the prices on some stuff is also been jacked up to normal retail prices or above

Not a big fan of this...but I get why...just a bummer to not ever feel any form of excitement ever again going to a Goodwill.
