SPARKY SHOOTING THE AR-15
Liam, a friend's son in law, while on a trip from his native Ireland to visit family had a chance to spend a few days at the ranch. In Ireland he is a professional electrician so I call him Sparky. I had forgotten that in Ireland there are no snakes, no privately owned firearms and very little sunshine. During his three day visit he got lots of sun, saw his first live snake in the wild, and had a chance to shoot several different firearms. Just like a duck takes to water he took to shooting. Showing Sparky how to shoot a rifle was a lot like squirting a duck with a hose. He liked it. It's amazing after 2 days of practice how quickly his marksmanship and firearm handling skills evolved. The one thing I learned is how easily we can take things for granted here in the good old USA. He can't imagine owning and shooting a firearm and I have no concept of not owning and shooting firearms. It sure makes me glad to know that I live in America the land of the still free. So at the end of his visit I realized how much we both learned from each others' cultures. But I still haven't learned how to speak Irish.

Here it is. I took all the different kinds of ammunition and magazines I could find laying around to test fire in the AR just to see what would happen. And here is what we discovered. Bush master, Thermold, and no name mags were iffy. PMC and 223 ammunition work but aren't great. The best combo was MIL-SPEC magazines with Lake City SS109. They shot fast and straight. The Wilson 1in9 twist chrom...

We are sitting around our orchard heater (smuggy) with our Irish friend Sparky having a cocktail and friendly conversation about our enjoyable day of shooting. Something very new and different for Sparky. Remember they can't have fire arms in Ireland nor are there snakes... both of which he has experienced on this trip.

They are also know as orchard heaters and choofas. A smudge pot has a large tub for a base with a stove pipe coming out of the middle of it. The smudge pot is placed between trees in a fruit orchard, allowing the h...

The m1a is a great battle rifle. I recommend tonyben3 youtube channel to fix the issues that are inherently present from Springfield Armory rifles. Namely lapping the bolt lugs and bolt roller impact defect, and shimming the gas system.

Great video Brand new just purchased M1 a soul come check it out for 100 rounds through it worked great beautiful no problems…. Ordered off the Springfield website the next GEN scope mount kit, which required to remove the trigger assembly to mount. No problems mounted it properly install the red dot accessory and took it to the range. Right away the weapon miss fired or I should say I did not fire, round chambered fine pull the trigger it sounded like the hammer function properly but the rounded not fire nor didn’t leave a mark on the primer of the round?? Remove magazine ejected round started all over again with the same results and scratch my head what the hell is going on? This probably happened four times in a row each time remove the round there was no marks on the primer move the magazine and after about the fourth time I’ve nothing happening.. I tried one more time and it fired!!! Fired off 10 round magazine no problem. Put another magazine in and the same thing happen again…. So obviously when I remove the trigger assembly to mount the scope ( I did not do anything to the trigger assembly except remove it per the instructions and reinstall it after mounting the scope rail) I’m at my wits end trying to figure out what would cause this… Anybody have suggestions or similar experience I would love to hear from you Thank you T Peterson USMC

I would strongly recommend that you REMOVE THE MAGAZINE before clearing the chamber. Leaving it in does NOT ensure that the rifle is unloaded. Taking it out and then racking the bolt back will remove a live round that may be in the chamber. Otherwise, if there is even just one round left in the magazine, it will chamber. Just a simple safety measure, and a good habit to get into. SAFETY FIRST! Thanks for the demonstration. Much appreciated.👍

She was telling me about how there were orange groves where there are now houses, and how her brother used to have a job lighting the smudge pots in those fields and how he used to come home covered in black soot. I looked up smudge pot and your video popped up, coincidentally talking about exactly what she just told me about the orange groves. She never actually saw a smudge pot before, so we both learned something. Thank you foe sharing! Much appreciated. And we hope you have a great Independence Day!
