I ran a wild west game where players used dice to play Hold 'Em and 5-Card Draw. They could also play Roulette or Craps.

Ive actually created an inzdepth fishing game in the past. Currently, im working on a DnD style card game.

For those of us that can't do alcohol, is there a good substitute for the rum?

I play roulette w my players. They guess a number and if they roll a number even/odd correctly they get 2x their bid. 5x if they roll a boundary to that number. 10x if they roll exactly.

Just now finding your channel. Looking forward to watching more of your videos and hope you're still actively making content. I've used a variety of games and sports in my D&D adventures and even included a few in my videos. I've reflavored darts by using throwing knives, included real world sports such as the ancient Caribbean game Batú, invented my own fantasy sports such as Titanclash (goblin football), and even included unique drinking games as recently as our last session. I always try to include a variety of encounters for my players so I'm on the lookout for new minigames such as these. Thanks for the tips!

My friend with a 3d printer for minis said that you have to remember that 3d printing minis and terrain is an investment just the same as purchasing them would be. if you bought a mini online, it would cost some money, and take a week to ship to you. expect printing your own to take a day per piece, and with all of the failures to have spent way less than a premade mini, but probably 2-3 times as much as the finished products plastic and paint would have cost. he wanted to have a lot more standard minis, kobolds, adventurers, guards, wolves, etc... so he prints a few every week, throws them in a box, and paints them months later if he thinks he might need them. this has lead to a bunch of sessions where unpainted minis get thrown on the table, and nobody cared. He also suggested by printing things that are simple and boring to start with. he made a number of spears and swords to be used as scatter props. then he moved to boxes, tables and benches, and then to things like campfires, trees, and bushes. then he went to larger minis like dragons, bugbears, etc, and then worked his way to humanoids.

a cool painting tip that could help with the graveyard is to use a ziplock bag for painting. when you have a lot of small items that are difficult to hold are paint, just put the paint in a ziplock bag, put the items in, and shake it. you can add some rice to the bag to provide some texture as well. generally works better with thinner paint and a setting that doesn't require smooth even coverage. I got the idea from painting easter eggs that way. specifically for painting mossy stone textures like gravestones, I think it would be perfect. it also works well on individual shingles or bricks if you are trying to get a quick first coat on those.

This was a great primer for me as I'm starting a new campaign and it centers around a cult seeking to re-open a rift. I had no idea how to design a cult, this has helped a lot.

Gygax said that the worst monsters were humans, and really nothing is more dangerous to a group of pc's than a group of similar-level npc's, or one npc of much higher level.

I tend to think in themes. I start with a core idea, and everything develops around that. It can be pretty straightforward, like "the undead are becoming increasingly common" -- a sign of some sort of corruption -- and there can be a lot more going on that's not directly related. But all the big signs and events relate to that concept, and the "solution" is about discovering the source and doing something about it. It *is* pretty basic, but really, that's the point. Keep it simple, and all the depth and complexity will emerge from that naturally.

Dice game: Men at Arms Roll 5d6, need a 6, 5, and 4 (King, Queen, Prince/Princess) You get 3 rolls and get to keep dice, but no re-roll what you saved. Whoever has the highest total of the last 2 dice wins.

I have a party where only 3/4 show up usually, we get maybe 2 sessions a month where everyone's there. I love your idea of dream quests and i think they are a great addition to have alongside a main campign.

A cult revering someone who doesn't know about them (yet) ! It could be that the cult has convinced themself that this person is trapped and needs to be freed to achieve their true power, or that they are the unknowing reincarnation of an older god, or that when the time comes this person must be sacrificed for something But Not Yet. There could be a small ring of people who selected this person, or another unknown entity beyond them that selected this person, or it could literally be like the dnd antichrist who doesn't know yet and their own subconscious is reaching out to gather followers. This adds a fun twist for the players to figure out what they want to do about the unaware "leader" and whether they're willing to solve a problem in advance, if they think that killing or imprisoning this person would just cause a self-fulfilling prophecy of doom, if they'll try to save the alleged innocent even if it could spell trouble because of the cult, etc etc etc What I'm doing with this idea is I've taken an NPC in a high-up position in society and made them the most likely one to bring a sort of dark oblivion to a large area of the land if things go wrong in just the right way, but they're also allergic to being the leader of anything and would not approve of a cult if they knew about it. So one of the dark gods has put like a flashing icon above this person's head to attract Oblivion Cultists and only the highest up ones know that this is an apocalypse type situation, they go out with magic items to form mini-cults that look unrelated, all with the end goal of collecting enough power to throw at the designated NPC and also to make everything go wrong for them in exactly the right way to make them use that power for the dark god's purpose. It's like a pyramid scheme but the first and third steps on the pyramid are in cahoots, the second step has no idea what's going on, and all steps from the fourth one down think they're part of completely unrelated pyramids.

I GM an episodic Blades in the Dark campaign. As long as anybody shows up, we play. No re-balancing needed, the players just have to find other solutions to the planed problems. I loved your ideas and I will give them a chance asap. Dreamquests sound very interesting! I want them! I need them! :D

Is the volume really low, or is it me?

These seem a bit mean-spirited to me. Petrifying someone for a full day? I think a better way would be to create potions with side-effects. A perfect example would be "Keoghtom's Oinkment". It heals wounds but also transforms the user into a pig for 1-4 hours. There was an "April Fools"-like article in Dragon magazine about "typo magic items" that gave me this idea. One of their examples was a Ring of Three Liches (instead of Wishes) and a Manual of Gollums instead of a Manual of Golems. Subtle changes that are fun but still give a benefit work better than harming the players' characters. I created a cabal of gnomes called ACME (Association of Chaotic Magicians and Enchanters) who make such potions as part of devotion to the gnome god Garl Glittergold. They are good-natured, so they do warn people that the potions, while cheap, "don't do quite what's expected of them."

Hurray! A new video! I love the Dream Quest idea. I think I will prepare a couple of those. As a bonus for the players that do make it, I will have the characters wake from their dream quest with one of their mental attributes increased by 1.
