To many front offices and coaches aren't flexible enough lineup wise. If Giddey didn't fit in the starting lineup, he might have been able to shine off the bench. I think Denver had a similar problem this year with their scoring logjam in the starting lineup and shallow bench. Move the starter that doesn't fit well to the bench and let them be a super sub.

@@J-Hue Giddey obviously fit perfectly because he started and OKC finished #1 in the West and exceeded all expectations. I think you're regurgitating garbage you've heard from other people who know nothing about basketball and didn't watch the Thunder play this year.

@@J-Huegiddey asked for the trade🤣🤣🤣 he didn’t add value to the lineup cuz he couldn’t shoot so he minimized spacing which was the whole point of the offense jdub and sga can get to the paint so easily 1 on 1 and when you have a player like hidden on the floor it allows more doubles in the paint by the opposing teams big. It’s common sense presto is the best gm in the league point blank and Alex caruso is a dirty work guy, the best role player in the league shi he helped la win in 2020 but if you are a basketball casual you’ll see him as a bum cuz he doesn’t score, but he is way more valuable on okc then Josh hidden ever will be.

Because the system is built around him. It isn’t in OKC. You can be a good player but be horrible on certain teams.

@swish1457 yeah I know we might lose him, but it will be fine if we can keep our trio of Dub, Chet, and SGA. With or draft picks and the culture we have built, I know some guys would be willing to take pay cuts to stay in OKC. Do not be surprised if Dort is one of those guys that takes a pay cut.

Huh? We’ve always had a starting 2 guard in Dort. Giddey was our 3. This just either puts Caruso at the 3 or moves dub back down there and Hartenstein at the 5.

I think that would be best. Chet play around 32 minutes and Hartenstein 26 minutes. Caruso off the bench but he’d be part of that closing lineup.

Ahh yes, Giddey who could not shoot at all, is better than a 40% three point shooter and all defensive team player Alex Caruso. I love giddey but he was in the wrong system. For him to succeed the offense needs to run through him to allow him to facilitate. He will feast in Chicago yes, but he would not of done well here.

@@ThunderDigestYT Giddey shot 34% on 3s last year which was 1% less than what SGA shot. He improved all 3 of his years in OKC on 3s and also free throws. Sounds like you've bought into the garbage all these so called experts are throwing out there who don't know basketball and didn't watch OKC play this year. Caruso for his career averages less than 7 points per game so his 3 point percentage is 100% meaningless. He could shoot 100% and it doesn't matter because he can't score. We got ourselves another Andre Roberson. Giddey was a much better overall player than Caruso and it was a stupid trade. Presti has now screwed up the chemistry of a team that exceeded all expectations and finished 1st in the west. They might not ever be as good as they were last year.

It’s not a matter of points. Does not matter if he scored 12 a game but then gives up 25 on defense. Caruso adds the same level of scoring but 3x as better at least on defense. It’s an improvement everywhere besides passing. I’m not hating on Giddey, I love his style of play. It just didn’t work for OKC plans for the future. He will average 16 8 and 8 in Chicago. But this trade allows us to get better all around for our style of play.

@@ThunderDigestYT Caruso offers almost nothing offensively whatsoever compared to what Giddey was giving them. They are considerably worse offensively without Giddey. Defensively it really doesn't matter how good a player is because they run pick and rolls and high screens constantly in today's offense so you pretty much never are guarding anybody one on one. Like I said, it was an incredibly stupid trade and they have now lost a big part of the chemistry that gave them their success last year. We traded away a white Magic Johnson and you're going to find that out within the next couple of years. Hayward, Wiggins and Wallace are all as good or better than Caruso. Hell Kenrich Williams is as good as him.

You're just undervaluing him in a clownish way cuz you're a Giddey Stan. Okc can move Alex Caruso for a player and a pick in an instant. Thunder have too much movable talent and draft capital to worry about what Josh is doing, or could become years from now. He won't be missed, he wasn't that important to the team, and now he never will be. That's that. Giddey is exactly where he needs to be. @@ThunderDigestYT The thunder even said they needed another playmaker after even while Giddy was still on team. Our guys are good but most of them need to be set up. Unless they make JDub play a lot of PG with second unit.

They said Chet will act more like a playmaker already. Also Hartenstein is one of the best playmaking centers in the league. Wiggins is a decent ball handler and passer, and I think Wallace and Caruso will be the main playmakers with the second unit.

We keep saying this, but if he hasn’t even improved how he plays against rookies and g league guys, how can we expect him to actually contribute at the NBA level? We are no longer rebuilding so it makes since to get rid of him. No player automatically becomes this GREAT player just in a season. It takes time that we no longer have for Dieng.

I agree with you, if we "could" get Markanen for Ous and some pics, but I don't see that happening. We need a backup 4 and Dieng is perfect for that role. Give the young man some more time. It took Gianis several years

I know we need a backup 4 but we have one in J Will. Everyone forgets he exists and is a natural 4.
