Brutal truths are always the best. Thanks Brenden.
Hey Allen thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. Make sure you have another great day today mate 👍
Dude where's your chin ?? 😅
Simple things that bring joy! Bought a kayak at 58. Nothing overly expensive but of better quality than most for longevity. At almost 60 now I have used it far more than I ever thought I would! I hit the mark on physical health, but the experience of all the places I took that, brought mental health and healthy relationships with like minded people… it just gave me joy! Plus I wasn’t at the mall mindlessly spending my money 😀 (aaaand, I stopped being a workaholic. Yeah, there’s that )
Hey Roberta thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do really appreciate it. Your comment brought a smile to my face, I'm glad you got your new kayak and you're out and about living life and enjoying yourself. That's what we were born to do so keep it going. Good luck on your path ahead and make sure you have another great day today 👍
It's winter here in newengland
As I said in the video we've had a few hot days but Melbourne is renowned for being 40 one day and 20 the next day.
I quit social drinking a year ago, best decision I ever made
Hi Anne thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. There's been so many comments on this video about people giving up the booze saying it was the best decision they've ever made. So well done to you and make sure you have a great day today 👍
I'm 61 starting partial retirement next year. No more full time work, thank god !
Hey there, thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. Sounds like a great plan!
Im 55, I already do most of that stuff but cant get wife to see my way that really stresses me ,,
Hey Danny thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. Good luck communicating with your wife and hopefully she'll see how you feel. Good luck on the path ahead and make sure you have a great day today mate 👍
I quit saying yes & trying to please other people, saying no is liberating.
Hi Sandra thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. You're not alone in making that change and feeling the way it made you feel. There's been quite a few other people saying a very similar thing in the comments and how it made them feel. Good luck on the path ahead and make sure you have a great day today 👍
I hated people at my work after 60 so see ya later idiots and never felt better

Hi John thanks again for watching and adding to the conversation here. Make sure you have another great day today mate 👍
The Only Time We Have is NOW. To live in the Past or the Future is a complete waste. Yes you can plan. Planning Now will result in your plans again when you realize you are again still here and Now.
Hi there thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. I agree 100% with your comment too. Good luck on the path ahead and make sure you have another great day today 👍
Close relationships can be Pets. Cat/Dog. Dingo lol. They are Healing.
Next is quit holding your phone out with your arm and Quit Thinking “ I mean this honestly Over thinking or think non stop about most things that are meaningless.
Re garden you'll succeed if you use plants that suit the climate.
Great insights Brenden. Regrets, bruises and a few scars I do own, however I've learnt to move on and get on with life. Indecision and procrastination rear their ugly heads from time to time, however becoming older (and hopefully wiser) has helped. Very moving and relevant video mate and very much appreciated. All the best as always, Sean.
Hey Sean thanks again for watching and leaving another positive comment here as I do appreciate it. I don't think there's too many people that get to my age that haven't had a few bruises and scars along the journey, it's just a part of life isn't it.
@@BrendenSharp Very true Brenden.
Especially at your mother or father's funeral. Don't hide in the corner, there's always something you can say even if you think there isn't. Go up to the lectern and be heard.
Great advice thanks mate.
I quit drinking alcohol
Hey Dwayne, you're a smart man to give up the booze as I've seen first hand what it can do to the individual and the people closest to them. And it's not good. Good luck on the path ahead and make sure you have a gteat day today.
I appreciate your good advice
Hey Dwayne, thanks for watching and leaving a positive comment here. I glad that you found the advice helpful.
Compelled to think over to quit unwanted things in old age. Thanks a lot
Hey there thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully you got something out of it. Good luck on your own path ahead and make sure you have a great day today 👍
My Debbie has been my walking partner with our dogs out in the country for 22 years. Long walks - kilometres - every day. I blew my knee 4 yrs ago and we drive them now - they get their exercise, but…. She wishes to post and warn others of just how quickly our bodies deteriorate and our minds fog without exercise. She believes our closeness has been affected. At 69now she does not have the energy or desire to “get out and go for it”. She naps every day, her sleep is erratic and so much zest has gone. She agrees with your advice in your excellent video.
Hey there Martin Thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. Sorry to hear your situation has changed but maybe you can just get out and go for much smaller little walks. I think it's so important to keep trying even if you do a lot less than you used to do it's still very important. My 98-year-old mum tries to take 2,000 steps a day. They're only very little steps more like a shuffle and after it she's exhausted. But she writes in her journal every day that she does her steps and I think it's so good for her both physically and mentally. Good luck on the path ahead and have a great day today
I really enjoy going on walks with you. Best to you in 2025!
Hey there Lisa, thanks for watching and leaving a positive comment as I do really appreciate it. I enjoy making these videos and 99% of the comments are very positive. I intend to keep making them as long as people are getting something out of it and I'm helping them in some way. As always good luck on the path ahead and make sure you have another great day today 👍
Covid showed mainstream media is BS. Best to avoid free to air TV all together.
Hey Richard thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. And I agree with you about mainstream media. Good luck on the path ahead and make sure you have a great day today mate 👍
In my late 50’s now and figured the only friend who’s never let me down is myself. Work friends are just that, work friends. Once you leave, I’ve noticed VERY few ever keep in touch. Don’t invest time in short term relationships because they yield nothing towards the benefit of a fuller life. Family can be taxing on your mental and physical health…limit the amount you wish to engage in and you will notice the beauty in the world around you more.
Hey there thanks for watching and leaving your wise words here as I do appreciate it. Good luck on your pathway ahead and make sure you have a great day today 👍
One thing I did do after age 60 is read the entire Bible page by page! One of the best use of time in my life! I am 67 now!
Hey Bryan thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. Glad you read the Bible cover a cover, well done. I've been listening to Jordan Peterson a lot lately and he's constantly referencing the Bible.
@ You're welcome Brendon! I read the NIV Bible...there is a confidence that comes when one is exposed to the entire Bible! You know what the truth is and can't be fooled by false doctrines! God Bless brother!
Adjusting your sails and don't think about the past. Yes...I'll be looking forward... Thank You friend!
Hey there, thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. That's the spirit, keep moving forward no matter what happens.
Thanks Brendon: I think your advice & words of wisdom are helping a lot of people, myself included. Life changes dramatically when retirement & health challenges start, it becomes clear time is running out. Gratitude has helped me the most, a strong belief in God & taking life one day at a time. I do like your grassroots “ant” approach, sometimes these negative thoughts run in the background constantly, learning how to be aware of them & flick them is the challenge. I like your music by the way, coming & going in the background is tastefully done. Isn’t it a human need to be happy & peaceful in one’s last chapter of life? Rhetorical. If one is carrying permanent wounds to the heart, I believe that it’s humanly impossible to heal through the mind, however, hope breaks through only by the strength of a personal r’ship with God. Satan knocks on the door of our open mind, finding the strength to close it & only open it to God’s voice is a daily struggle, as this world constantly throws trouble & strife at us. Thank you for your positive words of wisdom.
Hey thanks again for watching and leaving another positive comment here as I really appreciate it. I believe everyone struggles with ANT's to varying degrees so you've just got to squash them as soon as you become aware of them.
I've planned on learning Spanish for years. And practicing my guitar. I've played for years, but haven't really practiced.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment here. It's never too late to pick up where you left off!
Hi Brenden , I'm terrible for not speaking up , but you've inspired me so much , to do so from now on thankyou Brenden, have a lovely day in that beautiful weather, it's so cold and miserable here in England 😊
You can do it Harry, go for it!
Great insights. Thanks. I like what you said about a closed book, concentrating on your present and future.
Hey, thanks for watching and leaving a comment! It's very easy to drift back into your old book. The key is to become aware of it as early as you can and bring yourself back into the present.
Interesting! Thanks for introducing me to something new!
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment here! Glad you enjoyed the video. Using the Ray-Ban Meta's are so easy and a fun way to take videos.
Great video! You're walking in a lovely park today.
Hey Sue, thanks for watching and leaving a comment! I love being outside and it’s so nice to be able to film in such a beautiful place with perfect sunny conditions.
I'm sorry but the music sounds like someone died. I know it's a science getting the utube background music right.
Ok, thanks for the feedback. I'll choose a more upbeat tune next time. 👍
Better still: no music at all
Changes in my life in 2024 have been all good. Awesome channel 👏
Hey Robert, thanks again for watching and leaving a p[ositive comment here as I really appraciate. I hope that your 2025 is as good as your 2024.
This morning I said I don't want a relationship not trying, if a woman likes me she will make it ez and enjoy my interest. Then an overwhelming peace
Hey there Hoops590, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Good luck finding at relationship that fits with you in 2025.
Can't stand the music. Unsubscribe. Good luck to you Brenden.
Thanks Angela and good luck to you moving forward.
I gave up the booze so after that it fell into place.
Hey Michael thanks again for watching and leaving another comment. You're a smart man for giving away the booze. A lot of people in the comments have said a very similar thing.
Is that Lilydale Lake? I agree with some of what you say but then not so much with other bits. I see lots of people make decisions that will lead to failure but I would hardly call the outcomes bruises in many cases. A failed relationship could be financially catastrophic, especially if there's kids involved, and a business failure could be the same. The amount of businesses that I see fail that were obviously set up because it was someone's lifelong dream or passion but not well thought out is quite scary really. I was often told, even by family, that I would regret not travelling, spending money on memories, new cars or whatever else but it just isn't the case. I get up every morning and am extremely thankful for what we have and where we are in life even though I probably underachieved according to many, including myself. Learning from others mistakes and taking a measured approach to things rather than just blasting off with emotion has served us pretty well thus far. On the other side of the Ledger I wonder how many look back and think that some decisions they made were wrong and had bad outcomes but it's too late to fix the results. That said I have certainly had some less than stellar times in life and they were beneficial in the long run in some ways. I think that one of the most important things in life is to try and be as satisfied as possible with your life as it is for the majority of the time. I see so many older people trying to cling on to how they were when they were younger or always wanting to be on holidays, buying stuff, making memories or whatever and I find it rather pointless tbh. We could afford to do way more than we do but it really doesn't interest us.
I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling content with where you are and what you have in your life. Those big failures and relationship breakdowns that you mentioned are more in the “scars” category than bruises, that’s for sure.
@@BrendenSharp I guess when all is said and done it will often depend on the outcome. I took a job that I failed at and it had a pretty rough effect on me at the time due to that and other things going on but eventually it worked out for the best. I guess that makes it a bruise but if the outcome had been different, which looked pretty likely for a while, then it would have been a scar. Same with relationships I guess. It could turn out for the better after a breakup or not so it's hard to make definitive judgements. So many let emotions and opinions rule what they do which can end up with pretty ordinary outcomes at times.
You bring up a really important points about how our experiences shape us. Sometimes the toughest moments lead to the most valuable lessons, and it’s all about perspective!
Thanks again Brenden , always enjoy your insights. What is the background music please ?💖
Hey Pamela thanks again for watching and leaving another comment here as I do appreciate it. The name of the song in the artist is, Annasara - A Lifetime Rolls By (Annasara Rework)
Good to see you, Brenden. Amazing how Vietnam is thriving. They are really remarkable people. Thanks for taking us to these places.
Hey Frank, Vietnam is an Amazing place and I'll definitely be back to explore and spend more time there at some stage. It's great just because the experience is so different to where I'm used to.
Nice video ~ your weather looks like here in Phoenix, Arizona. This is the Dream Time ~ we are living now, but everything is an illusion. Every thing changes, and then is gone. And we are gone. In the expanse of time, we are already dead. As one ages, one learns to accept life as it is. That is a hard task for the young to understand.
Hey Grant thanks for watching and leaving another comment. I agree when you're young you never think about that type of thing but as you age you tend to think about it more and more.
Hi Mate ... old adage ... "you can't control the wind but you can adjust your sails"! Excellent video. All the best in 2025 to you and yours.
Hey George, thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and good luck to you too mate & I hope 2025 is your best year yet 👍.
Before he died, my ex wrote me a long letter thanking me for all I had done for him and how much he appreciated it, concluding with what a good wife I had been. Perhaps if he had told me any of this when we were married…
Hey Yvonne as always thanks for watching and leaving a comment. At least I think it's a very positive thing that you knew how he felt even though he had trouble saying it to you. Most people don't even do that for their partners, so I think it's a positive.
@ Indeed. I have learned in the usual way that you should always speak from the heart. In my case it eased his mind so as to be able to depart in peace and left me with a kinder memory of him.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Speaking from the heart truly makes a difference and can lead to healing and understanding.
One more...Praise the Lord daily. We are never alone 🙏😁
A valuable episode, Brendan. Thanks for sharing. Hope this year allows you to be the best version of you. Keep up the great content. Go well in your days .Stay cool. Bloody hot today, eh!
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment here, I appreciate it, and I wish you all the best too Annie 👍
Great tips for good n long living life..Love the background music too..😊

Great to see you again. It's winter here in the UK so great advice in a beautiful summer setting is just the ticket. Thank You for Being.
Hey Owen, thanks again for watching and leaving another positive comment. In Melbourne, it’s going to be 37 degrees today and 38 tomorrow, so summer has well and truly arrived here now!
Excellent advice. Thank you.
Hey Tony, thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. Good luck on your own pathway ahead and make sure you have a great day today mate 👍
Happy New Year! New subscriber here. I like your wisdom and how relaxed you bring forward your thoughts.

I am 46 but sometimes I already think a little bit about when the time will come, I also want to stop at 60, by then I will have worked for 41 years and there are other things than just working.
Hi there thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. My 50s flew by so fast I couldn't believe it when I woke up and I was already 60. The earlier you can quit the better. Good luck on your own path ahead and make sure you have a great day today mate 👍
