I once stopped a fi ght between two women at the bar. They were at each other's faces, I went over, pulled them apart, and yelled stop it. And when I shared this story to a few coworkers at my college catering job, I was brought into the office for a lecture about work-appropriate conversations. It was me, my boss, and her chef colleague. A pris sy student leader had overheard the bar story and ratted me out. But in my defense, my three coworkers are over 21 and have been to the bar before, and the wedding guests were away, behind closed doors during some speeches. I really don't think my topic at work is a big deal, and neither did the three I chatted with. But that wasn't it. The chef also didn't like how I said to one of the guests who called me over, "Hey, what's up?" According to the chef, "John, we do not say _'Hey....what's up?'_ to the guests. We say _'Hello. How are you?'_ We are an etiquette, civilized catering business, not a football team." Is it me, or is this lecture kind of ridiculous?
