great dogs those braqs.
Yes they are!! :)
Watching this video a second time as im just chomping at the bit for some bird seasons to open. im sure you and everyone else is the same way. i live in AZ in PHX area so those scalies are mine main focus this year. maybe i will run into you and Drew sometime. thx for the videos i enjoy everyone of them.
Thanks! I'm dying over here! I've been re-watching all my favorite YT channels for the last couple of weeks. Would love to run into you out there. Good luck this year!
Cool video. What choke were you using with that 28ga? What size shot? What brand and model shotgun? Thanks!
thanks! That is a Rizzini BR 110 Sporter. Mod/IC chokes. I shoot either 7.5 or 8 shot for quail.
Congrats!
Thank you!
Congrats on the upcoming litter - should be quite the dogs!
Thanks Jeff! Super excited to see how they turn out!
Great video ruined by "chain saw guitar music". Appreciate the French Braques.
Thank you! Wasn't my favorite either...still trying to find the right sound.
Oh man, this is exciting! And tempting. 😉
LOL...I know! I might just keep them all!! LOL!
Whoop whoop!
Yeah Buddy!!
Hey sir, I love the content. I run a GSP/British lab mix and a friend runs a Portuguese pointer. Planning a trip to Arizona this fall. Wondering if you’re into guiding in Arizona slam. We’re from New Mexico and run season dogs on these blue quail out here.
Thank you! I don't do any guiding. I just hunt with family and friends these days...always wanted to hunt those NM Blues though...Trade?
Dang man, what a great video right in the heat of the summer! Fall is only a few months away!!
Thanks Jeff! I know...can't wait for it to get cooler down here!!
Thanks for sharing. Monsoons here in SW NM kicked up good last week but it was a dry spring, first broods were sparse. Hopefully the later hatches will be good.
Thanks! Great to hear you are at least getting some moisture. Hopefully we get some more down S to help our Mearns this year.
Great day out with the dogs and family. Do you know if foreign hunters can go quail hunting in Arizona? I hunt over my GWPs in the UK and want to plan a trip abroad
Thanks! I believe so. For small game like quail, Arizona doesn't require any hunters safety course to be completed. I believe you can buy a 'Non-resident' license and you are good. Double check the regulations a AZGFD.com to be sure. If you decide to make it this way let me know!!
Perfect timing with your video! Thanks for the midsummers boost to reduce anxious bird hunters and dogs. I’m hopeful that monsoon rains help nesting success. I’m hearing positive things from Idaho; good numbers of chukar and quail broods, along with lots of insect production. October can’t get here quick enough.
Monsoons haven't been anything great yet...still hopeful. Winter rains were pretty good so Desert birds(Gambels & Scalies) should be in good shape. Mearns is yet to be seen. Wish I could make it up to ID this year. Gonna be tough. Rue expecting puppies in Aug.
Great last hunt... looking forward to another trip from north Dakota next year
Thank you! Sure is a fun place to hunt!!
Hey there, I’m here in Arizona and I thought the season was over? Last year was my very first year, kind of really getting into it and I’m really trying to prepare myself for this season coming up. I must’ve not read the regulations that well but glad that I ran into this video.
The season is over. This was from the last weekend back in Feb. It took me a while to put it together with life and time off getting in the way. Can't wait for it to reopen in Oct :)
Great job, Spencer! Looks like a good day hunting and the dogs are very well trained. Northwest somewhere with the Joshua Trees? Definitely makes me want to get out there in the fall! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
Great job as always Spencer! I would love to hunt with you someday. I'm headed to your neck of the woods in mid December. Maybe we can cross paths? If not, Good luck, and good hunting! All the best, and safe travels!
Thanks man!! You let me know when you are in town and we will see if we can make that happen!! 👊
Just subscribed
Another great video. This is one of my favorite channels. I do not read comments much so forgive me if I’ve missed this, but, do you shoot a 28 gauge? If so, what load and choke combo do you use?
Thank you for the Kind Words!! I appreciate it very much! I do use a 28ga. 7.5 or 8 shot Mod over IC
Thanks for showing us the ropes! All the dogs did a super job handling jumpy birds. Let’s hope for good rains leading to strong recruitment next year.
It was Awesome to spend the day with you sir! Can't wait to do that again!
Very enjoyable hunt. Thank you.
Thanks for watching Mark!
Another great one - loved the different scenery, different birds, and even that incredible play-by-play!
LOL Thanks!!
Good hunt, nice to see the Virginia boys out hunting with ya Ron and Mark!
Awesome video! I have a Wirehair litter right now from my dog from Ghost point Wirehairs - Male out of Tubbs/Cici. Female is from Bone Creek Kennel in Oregon I live up in WA
Sounds like a good breeding!! Good Luck with the litter!!
@@azquailadventures Thanks! 8 pups I got 1 black and roan female rest are liver and ticked
@@samsmith7150 Nice!!
Nice dog work. Where are your BF from? I have one from Great Lakes Gun Dogs in Michigan. Great dogs!
@@guillermosarria9509 Thank you! Jack is my happy accident. He was from a backyard breeder that had 2 from kennels in AL and NJ but they didn't register the breeding or paper the dogs. A friend of mine got him and couldn't handle him with 3 little kids so we fostered him and he stuck around :) He handled the heat so well that I decided to get another. Rue is from Unique Gundogs in MO. She is awesome. I will be breeding her here in the next month or so to a really nice male from MI. Can't wait to see those pups develop!
Love the point you made to show Pepper the bird at the 9:30 mark. I think they need to know "this is it, we got it."
Thanks...they have to know they done right :)
I love getting the surprise of getting another video dropped. Keep them coming!
Thanks sir!! One more to go :)
Hell FIRE 🔥 😮
Great video man! Thanks for sharing your season for those of us living in the wasteland of upland birds.
Ha! Thanks for supporting and watching!!
Rue and Pepper sure showing strong progression as the past season moves on! No doubt about “birds make bird dogs”, but only wild birds, fair chase make truly finished bird dogs. You guys in Arizona sure have it good with great access to my favorite birds.
Thanks Ron!! They are coming around that's for sure. Now if I can actually take the time to clean up the retrieve they will be super nice :) Breeding Rue next month. Can't wait to see the pups she produces!
Great video as always, can't wait till next year to see more
Thanks Ray! I have 2 more to put together for last season still. Got a little distracted and lazy once the season ended 🤣
Man, what a day! Great stuff, as always!
Thanks Jeff!!
Looked like a fun day, there's a quail obsession developing in me! Quick birds, kinda like Ruffed Grouse up here in MN but without the trees, and quail are a little smaller target too of course!
Lots of quick shooting for sure. Tons of fun to hunt!
Thanks for a great day! I really enjoyed spending some time afield with you all and getting to watch your pups do their thing. Thanks again!
It was fun for sure and now you have the excuse to come back!!🤣
Bird hunters are definitely the most optimistic group of people I know. Always ready for the day and the next season. Glad you are leading the way!
Yes we are!! Hope you are doing well my Friend!!
Great stuff as usual. That shot at the 7:45'sh mark with the views off in the distance is amazing.
Thank you! Pretty Country for sure!
Incredible stuff, as always!!
Thanks Jeff!
thanks great video
Thank you!
you got it@@azquailadventures
THE GUY THAT WAS THE HOST WAS A GUN HOG , WHAT A SHAM THAT HE WOULD BE A ASS HOLE WHEN THESE GUYS WON THIS HUNT !!!!!! THAT IS WHY WE DO NOT NEED GUIDES THEY SHOULD NOT CARRY A GUN , THEY SHOULD ONLY BE THERE TO ASSIST THE HUNTERS [SHOW THE HUNTERS WHERE TO GO]. AND RUN THE DOGS !!!!!
Great quil hunt in az I hunted quail in Northern California it looks like the California quail the male does the gamble's quail species
Thanks! Yes the male Gambels and California/Valley Quail look very similar.
That was a good hunt, that native landscape is beautiful down there!
Thanks! It is a very special place.
In case the guys were unaware, I’ll point out that was an assume hunt! Lots of birds, good company and great dog work!
It was a good one for sure!
How are the Braques at home? Considering this breed as a bird dog.
Awesome! Both Rue and Jack are calm in the house and Great with kids. Getting ready to breed Rue in the next couple of months.
What a fantastic video! You guys were just smoking those Scalies! WOW! That Owl in that tree was one of the coolest things ever! I can't wait to get back to Cochise County this year! Awesome!
Thanks!!
Another great video
Thank you!
Great stuff - it's pretty darn cool that you donated a hunt! Any plans to offer guided hunts in the future?
Thanks Jeff. I quit the guiding game a couple of years ago. I live too far from the prime grounds to make it worth it for the limited days I get to hunt each year.
DM me on insta az_quail_hunter
Good Stuff ! It is amazing to me those birds live in that baron wasteland.
Crazy the stuff we find them in sometimes!
Outstanding video! I'm so jacked up for the quail opener this year in Az! Let's hope the conditions are right, and we have great hunting again!
Thank you and me too!!!
It sure looks like with the desert quail you start with a large covey, they run and splinter off and you end up with a couple birds that get pointed. Still produced enough birds for a day well spent! 11:21
It was a tough day. We really didn't find much until the final couple of walks and even then they were spread out. That happens when you explore new ground. Sometimes you find the Mother Load and others you have a nice long armed hike 🤣🤣
I love that little excited bark. I Know we are not supposed to, but I do. I Have said that to Eric several times. My Boykin/Brittany mix does that. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Me too...can't help but feel the excitement in the moment!
Awesome stuff - thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
