Political support does not help in MGRs success in films. From 1947 to 1977 all his hit, super hit and iconic movies are qualitywise great. Even in 1968 why DMK support did not help Ther Thiruvizha, Kadal Vahanam, Puthiya Boomi, Kanavan and even Kannan en kadalan. Where as Kudierunda koil created history for all round quality. The quality is important. It is applicable for MGR, Sivaji or anybody.

Kudierunda koil was a masterpiece and one of the 10 best pictures of MGR. He scaled the greatest height in acting surpassing Nadodi Mannan and Enga veetu Pillai. The contrast between two brothers one with gentle nature and another with anger, speed and dynamism. The dialogue delivery, face expression and body language was so remarkable. Both music and photography (especially mask shots), dance both bangara and Spanish made that film immortal. Successwise 100 days in more than 10 theatres. First film to cross four lakhs in 100 days in North Madras. Even Enga veetu Pillai and Anbe vaa could not reach that mile stone. Yes adimai penn, Rickshawkaran and Ulagam Sutrum valiban reached that figure later. Even Makkal Thilagam cannot bring out another film like that. Kudos to Velumani to produce such a film inspite of so many difficulties and financial constraints.
