Straight Men Are Oppressed TOO (by other men)
Straight men are victims too (because of patriarchy). In today's video, I want to talk about patriarchy, what it is, how it originated, and how it doesn't just negatively affect women and minorities, but also its main beneficiaries: straight men. Patriarchy has existed for thousands of years, but relatively recently, it has been challenged, leading many men to feel "discriminated against". In this video, we will explore how patriarchy conditions men to have certain expectations about the world and also how it can be emotionally and socially restrictive leading to higher mental health issues. We will explore traditional ideas of masculinity, the manosphere, feminism, Muscular Christianity and its influence on male dominance and self-image, the cowboy archetype and postmodern radicalization, male vulnerability, and how straight men can live healthier, authentic lives.

This short film/edit is intended to express the themes of impermanence, mortality, and love. Using different clips from disaster movies including Knowing, Terminator, 2012, and other geological documentaries, I wanted to to show the futility of the pursuit of immortality and permanence. The second theme is mortality and accepting one's inevitable death. While some of the clips may have been dar...

How Celebrities Became Modern Gods
มุมมอง 26Kหลายเดือนก่อน
How did celebrities become so huge? Why is "stan culture" so dominant today? How did we get here? Today I wanted to attempt to answer these questions and explain how the modern celebrity became God-like with their fan bases. From Taylor Swift and Beyonce to Elvis and The Beatles, celebrity culture has dominated American Society for over half a century, but you may be surprised to learn why that...

Why are Millenials and Gen Z so nostalgic? One of the biggest Gen Z trends at the moment is early 2000s-Y2K fashion, music, and aesthetics. From Charlie XCX and her new "brat" album to Troy Sivan and Ice Spice, Nostalgia is in and modernity is out. Today I wanted to explain why Gen Z and Millenials are so nostalgic for the chrome, bedazzled, Frutiger Aero, recession pop aesthetic of the past. I...

You are living in the most creative time in human history. Today I wanted to talk about art history, postmodernism, and how we have more creative freedom to express ourselves than ever before. This was interesting, but it is a polar topic. Nostalgia could be delusional in cases. But, missing the friends you had once, family members that passed away, their cooking, their smell, how they were, the dopamine once felt going shopping, or eating pizza, or anything, it is not. And it is very normal to miss all of that especially when you’re not depressed or even having a good day, because things, like you point out, have changed, but have changed drastically. And, I’m sorry, but music, movies, series, hangouts, fashion, it’s not the same anymore, there’s no talent, no new ideas, and gen Z critiques a lot the people who created their apps, their aesthetics and such. So, it’s not always delulu. If you glorify it, feel free to do it unless you’re lying or coping.

Gen Z you guys are coping so hard with life that you are actively creating a narrative to justify your existence and take away some of the best parts of being a millennial. We lived through the 90s and 00s as kids growing up with a fond memory of this time period. You were handed down some of the best movies, music and culture well into the 2010s. In fact, the nostalgia for playing video games and movies that are remastered gives me a bit of joy to see you enjoy the things we once did.

That "lofi grainy crap nostalgia thing" will pass in 30 yrs. It was nonexistent in the silver screen era when fiew generations didn't have a tv. By the mid 21 century image quality will reach it's limits and people in 2090 will feel nostalgic watching a video from 2050 strictly from observing cityscape or fashion captured in the video, not from the thechnical artifacts present in the video, because there won't be any. Like an oil painting from 1790 and an oil painting from 1890.

most 30 something year olds in Dublin, Ireland now live with their parents now. They simply cannot afford to buy a house of their own. Any working young couple simply cannot afford to buy a house and start a family, if that is what they want to do. Even if both of them are working. This was not the case in the past. The 'longing for the past' is not just about the idea 'better music' or fashion etc. It is about the ability to live as a functional independent adult. This has NOTHING to do with video grain or memory formations. It is the Survival Reality being faced by young people right now all around the western world.

For the past 2 years I’ve been doing reality tv. When I started I just wanted to make enough money to take care of my family through dance now that I’m experiencing “fame” I realize regardless of my intentions of being able to experience this Im seeing all the things from my childhood of being rejected my family and friends now I feel rejected on a mass scale and I feel more alone than I did before. People no longer see me as a human being who makes mistakes I am seen as an idol, a projection of societies ideals and judged by the court of public opinion. Further more I mourn the life I once had. Now I think about how I will survive the endless cyber bullying and isolation I feel now. No longer to I relate to ppl close to me, more so than before I feel like God is challenging me to face these battles alone this the only thing that can justify what I’m going through.

I've been so fascinated by this subject! I'm learning, to an extent, it's a lack of emotional autonomy where your nervous system also never learned that you're allowed your feelings to be your feelings. For whatever reason in your development, you had to be attuned to other people's feelings in order to assure your sense of emotional safety. Sometimes this stems from parents/guardians blaming the child for their <bad> feelings (i.e. telling the child it's their fault the parent is angry), and so the person inevitably takes on the emotional responsibility of the parent to maintain the connection. Sometimes this is simply sensitivity and not having the proper attunement to be told that the child didn't have to take on the emotional labor of the other. Who knows, it's all theory haha

Lex Fridman is a hard working grifter. His whole image has been carefully manufactured and I would not be even a little bit surprised if he had workshopped it well in advance with his buddy Joe Rogan. His sycophantic adoration of Elon Musk is almost embarrassing to listen to. The bad news for Lex is there is a very clear ceiling to just how successful he can become with the formula and image he has created. He has pretty much hit his peak and I think as more and more people start to realize how problematic and disingenuous he really is his popularity will only slowly continue to decline.

I wonder if people are really more nostalgic than the past or is it just because we have snapshots of the past now unlike they would have had back then. A lot of people have too much time on their hands these days as opposed to being busy with being an active member of society and having a family by your mid 20s. I mean we can only speculate since we don't know how people back in the day would have coped with the modern technology or what their frame of mind was like in general.

You're absolutely mistaken. We are living in an age of profound economic constraints, where anyone who dares to challenge the dominant narrative-capitalism-is either figuratively or, in some cases, literally merked. What you call freedom is nothing more than human creativity and expression being subdued and domesticated for the benefit of the ruling order and market capitalism. This is precisely why events like the Met Gala come across as utterly tasteless-a grotesque display where the very art you're referring to is reduced to hyper-commercialised, hollow posturing of art in the very conservative and military oriented society.

I oddly remember every detail. A friend can describe something we did in the past and be off. Usually its part of another reall memory that is unrelated. Me on the ither hand can recall what we were wearinf, the way the light hut the room, the perfume they were wearing, the song that was playing and what we were talking about. People say they wish they had a memory like that. Why, its in the past. What people dont realize is i lack the ability to edit or supress memories. So its best not to let my mind wander back aimlessly.

Seemed like the end of optimism then. I wrote a paper in 1988 when I was in 6th grade about bush/quale. The shock for me has been happening every election since I was 10.
