I have stong vignetting when using Tamron 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD with the Canon adapter. Anyone else experiencing this?

I like the 35 mm. And, I like the 85mm. I'm new to autofocus and digital. But I prefer 35 and 85, to 50 and 105, to work closer and for the angle-of-view.

Do this lens works as full frame or cropped /apsc cropped for Canon r5?

This is one of the reasons I got the R6 II over the R5... the R6 II is a better camera in most areas (4k120 aside) but when it comes to resolution, I can use Super Resolution and the R6 II files look better than the native R5 files at 45 MP.

Thanks for posting this video, this is sometghing I would like to try. You said in your video the lens was in Manual, but it looks like it was in Auto. Can you use a manual only lens with this feature. Thanks, Dave

Hi, good review thanks for that. I recently bought a One R and also the lens guards. Before that I had a X2 but that one broke of twice during gravel rides. I mostly use the camera on a selfiestick which is mounted on my handlebar. I think the form factor of the R is better suited for this purpose. I'm stil looking for the best mounting option though, any suggestions? It's not just about filming myself but also others during rides.

I am 3 years late but right on time. Thank you for this awesome video on adapting EF/EF-S lenses onto RF mount Canon bodies. I have an R6 MKII on its way for Christmas and can’t wait for its arrival Friday. I have also ordered an ND cartridge type RF adapter for my EF/EF-S lenses. I’m going to order the RF 50mm f/1.8 as my first RF lens. You have given me and so many others the peace of mind to purchase mirrorless cameras from Canon - thank you. I will do some testing with all of my EF-S STM lenses and let you know how they work. I have several EF-S and the single EF STM lens for my Canon 90D. Thanks a lot for your vidéo and your evf footages ! I have this lens and i use it with my canon rp. Not an amazing combo i would say in term of auto focus. I will upgrade to the R5 or R6 mkii soon 🙂

yet I have not understood how 8 pin lense can work with 12 pin communication from camera.

Appreciate this review as such a return to Canon from Sony with all my existing EF lenses work 'okay'ish' on the Sony but would prefer the native experience and all the features which aren't all available cross-platform, so reassuring to hear this. One extra comment which I'm not sure gets made much is that as tempting as some of the new RF lenses are to replace our older EF lenses, I do wonder about the future limitation of being able to adapt RF lenses to anything other than Canon R bodies, whereas despite some limitations, the EF range can be adapted to many mirrorless option... just a thought! If anyone from Canon is watching I'd go as far as to suggest that ALL new RF lenses should stay in EF mount but just seamless in action with an adapter... altho they'd NEVER do it I know :)

After 2 years and 6,000 images, I will not part with it. I had the RF f4 version as it was lighter but found the f2.8 to be a bit sharper (better micro-contrast). I was hoping to save some weight with the f4 but the 2.8 has spoiled me. I shoot mainly landscapes with it and occasionally portraits.

No such thing as a perfect lens. If you are a Bird photographer you can’t get a better lens if you aren’t currently selling photos! I have had the sigma, Tamron, and Canon zoom lenses and Canon 400 f5.6. The photos are much better than I expected. Having 800 is great with a large sensor. Buy it and take the $9,000.00 you save to take birding trips. You could use flash like we did in the old days when lighting is low.

If it wouldn't extend it would be an INSTANT buy for me.

I have the VL-150II and recently purchased the RC-A5II remote. Have the remote on the corresponding channel for the VL-150 and can't get it to control the light. So I ordered another remote and it still doesn't control the light. I can use the phone app to control the light just fine. Any ideas what the issue might be?

When I shoot aircraft, I keep pressing the back AF button and it get out of focus , Do you have any idea how to fix it? I'm starting to regret I bought the R5, I got the 5D MK IV, never had that kind of a problem. I just can't lock on a moving subject such as aircraft. I got the Contemporary version. I can't afford myself a new lens... Thanks

I'm just concerned about the durability of the Bessel soft box. I have a neewer one and the spokes either came off or the locking mechanism loses its strength after some time.

I have R6 and R7. My every day setup is R7 + Canon ef 70-200mm f2.8 is usm ii + Sigma 1.4x teleconverter. I also have this sigma 150-600mm sport lens which i mainly use it with R6 for outdoor events and i am really happy with it. Just needs tribod and gimbal but i use large ball head which let the lens go sideways on it to act as a gimbal. Small and handy setup really since good gimbals are really large. For R7 you need to make settings right in camera and you need Sigma doc to tune Contemporary and Sport lens to reduce focus pulsing a lot!

You state that there are better yet less expensive stereo microphones... could you mention one or two please.

For 3rd party EF lens, you might need to update the firmware to improve performance.

With the R6 Mark II the autofocus area has been expanded from the central 40 % of the viewfinder and sensor to about 80 %. This will allow accurate focus and recompose or eye tracking focus to be a lot more practical.

How do u connect this light to a v mount battery ?

I have the Sigma lens on my R6 and it does let me down occasionally. At close distance you become aware of it hunting for focus (not always) Even at distance though, the camera tells you it's focused in post you see it hasn't focused properly. You look at the focus point and it isn't in focus. I am getting lot's of great shots with this lens , shooting birds at in bursts I usually get a shot worth keeping. I don't feel the need to switch to a 100-400. I have an EF 70-200 F2.8 which works faultlessly and some other RF lenses so I can recognise the shortcoming of the Sigma. As mentioned the price of the 100-500 is a huge obstacle to upgrading past the Sigma .

I own a Canon R6 and Sigma 150-600 Sport. I am extremely disappointed with it! 99% of the photos I take with it are very soft! I use servo mode and animal tracking and birds come out extremely soft, wether still or in flight. My 70-300 IS USM lens is WAY sharper!
