'murican spricht Deutsch: I'm an expat from the US who will take you on adventures to enjoy the hidden gems of Switzerland (and a few not-so-hidden gems). Outdoors - hiking, cycling as well as food, language and culture from all the regions of Switzerland and nearby places. Once in a while, I take you to further out travel destinations.
Moving from the US to Switzerland
In this video, I describe three paths for moving from the USA to Swtizerland, including the path our family used to move in 2018. The three paths represent different ages and stages of life.

What we learned about hiking in Crete
Crete has some truly beautiful gorge hikes - none of which are easy to get to! In this video, we will cover the hikes we took, where we stayed and how we got there. And, knowing what we know now, what we’d choose instead for a hiking vacation in Crete. Hiking Swiss National Park: Margunet
From Offenpass, route 812, Margunet, takes you into the heart of the Swiss National Park. It is 8km long and a bit punchy, ascending approximately 600 meters through forest and high meadows before entering glacial scree. We spotted marmots and chamois during our visit, but sadly no bearded vultures, which the trail is known for.
Hike/Wander Via Engiadina Section 8: Guarda to Ardez Switzerland
Starting in charming Guarda, Via Engiadina section 8 takes you up along the Schellen Ürsli Weg, into the Clozza River valley to Alp Suot under the watch of Piz Buin. The 14km route then climbs over the ridge to Mutera d’Ardez at 2142 meters before plunging steeply down to Ardez where you can catch the train. Along the route, you can enjoy some interactive displays about Chalanda März, the annua...
Berner Oberland: Spiez to Thun
If you find yourself in the Berner Oberland, looking for something active to do, but are not a big hiker, I have a recommendation for you. There is a very scenic, mellow hike that goes all the way around Thun Lake or Thunersee, route number 26. It is in four sections. However, the section connecting the towns of Spiez and Thun is quite scenic and also allows the chance to stop in various spots ...

Glarnerland: 3 Spring Hikes with Solitude
The route to Klontalersee from Glarus can be done as a narrow loop route, which is what we chose. We started on Route #55 - via Surrarow. It climbs and descends about 550m in 18km. It is about 9km to reach the bowl with the lake, which is where we turned around and took the parallel route down. This is a great longer hike for Spring fitness building. The walk to Obersee from Näfels is about 7.5...
Dozza: Città d'Arte - Day Trip from Bologna
My favorite day trip from Bologna is the small hill town of Dozza. To get there, we took the number 101 bus from the central bus station toward Imola. It’s about 1 hour to the PIro Piro stop from which we walked the remaining 30 minutes. There is a second bus (number 147) you can catch uphill or the drive is about 45 minutes. Dozza is known as an open-air art gallery. Every three years, the res...

English: Every three years, the Swiss Sculpture Festival "Bad Ragartz" comes to Sarganserland. It is taking place right now and the motto is "Present - Without today, there would be no yesterday tomorrow". We visited on a lovely Mothers' Sunday. I lived in Bali for 7 years... I must agree with u... but of course u can go to other part of Bali... East... North dan West Bali are more tranquil yet untouched... like Singaraja... Candi Dasa or Tabanan and Negara... there are Christian and Catholic village very clean and traditional Balinese church... amazing culture...!!! Also go to other part of Indonesia... like Lombok Mandalika... Flores Komodo... Manado Likupang... Toba and Lampung in Sumatra Island...!!! So pristine and amazing...!!! I was a tour guide for ASIA VOYAGES... Je parle Français...!!! 😂🎉❤️🇮🇩🥰
Thanks for the suggestions!
Of course, now with TRUMP in power, we don't need to escape from Communism any longer. Make America Great! Maybe, IF in 20 years Communism rears its ugly head here in the USA again, I would consider Switzerland, based on your good video. THANK YOU! But although I speak PERFECT German from living my first 24 years IN GERMANY I would always only be an outsider in Switzerland because I don't speak SWISS-GERMAN.
What made the US system great for the last 250 years is the representative democracy and checks and balances between co-equal branches of government, which ensured no single individual or party or idea could have too much influence and things would slowly evolve as the country grew and matured. The US could also learn a lot from the Swiss system with direct democracy/high voting participation, a federal council of seven instead of a single president, and a strong multi-party parliamentary system. Ich lerne Schwiitzertüütsch so schnäll wie möglich.
So lets spoil Switzerland and have Americans move there.
Americans and Swiss both care deeply about innovation, so I think there is mutual interest for us to spend time in each other's lands. I hope Americans who choose to live in Switzerland are respectful and add to the local community.
But we just don’t have room to take in the entire world. As it is we are already densly populated. Switzerland is turning into one big City…sad😢!
Having just visited a city with 10 million people, I can say that Switzerland is not densely populated :) But, I am sure it has changed a lot in the past decades as the cities and surrounding suburbs grow more dense. I know a lot of my former village neighbors lamented those changes.
@@girodichatterboxHousing is extremely expensive because of the high amount of immigration taking place. This will make it next to impossible for my children to buy their own place.
@@girodichatterboxyou missed his point entirely and it makes me see that you don’t understand the Swiss culture at all. This is what irritates the Swiss about foreigners.
Too many wanna be influencers, too many disrespectful tourist but Indonesia central government does nothing to control this. Change must come now.
@@sandrider1406 yes, it seems something must be done to restore the former nature of Bali. I’m sorry to hear so many disrespect the place. I hope I was not one of them.
where??
Lej da Staz near St. Moritz, Switzerland
There are so many more beautiful beaches in Southeast Asia.. Just Google them
Hey. Giro di Can i talk to you. can i help you grow your TH-cam channel. i see you are uploading videos daily but not getting good results. Because your videos are not optimized. and SEO score is very bad. so youcan contact me if you want. thank you.
Thanks for this video. Once again reinforces my desire to NEVER go to this hellhole. It's as if instagram influencers are like a reverse king Midas, everything they touch turns to shit. I'm happily staying in my remote gems in Vietnam and Thailand.
I try to give my unbiased opinion of places I visit - not some curated for Insta idealized version. I think if you can afford the very expensive luxury resorts and stay within the confines, you may have a different experience. However, is a luxury resort really representative of a place? I don't think so. The truth is that almost the entire economy is tourism and that shows. It has eroded what was left of the original culture - much like Venice or similar over-touristed spots.
TH-camThumbnail is the most important part of your video. The all first impression coming from your thumbnail. Perfect thumbnail will gain you more views and subscribers for sure.
@@EmmaCarla-c7w thanks, EmmaCarla! I'm testing two thumbnails now. I do need to up my thumbnail game.
@@LeilaBacchi danke sehr, Leila! Es gibt so viel zu anschauen. Ich denke Man muss mindestens zweimal besuchen. Glücklicherweise, haben wir bis zum Oktober!
Is this during November?
Yes, first weekend of November. It was unusually warm. Normally, I would recommend doing this hike until mid October as some of the trail assists are removed by November and it is often icy.
@@girodichatterboxthanks, what trail assists do you mean?
@@deantan4080 There are some chains and cables that line some of the stairways and ridges that will be taken down. It is fine to walk, though feels more exposed.
@@girodichatterbox okay this is noted

Go to Sumbawa. Is beautiful there. Still raw and untouch
Thanks for the recommendation!
100% truth.
Bali is scam. Nothing else. You pay first world prices for everything in third world country and you get nothing else but sickness and rip off.
I booked to go in September. I’m rethinking now.
I’ve heard the northeast side of the island is still pleasant. Alternatively I would consider one of the lesser traveled islands in Indonesia. I can also recommend Kerala in India. Kovalam has a couple very nice hotels and easy to get to.
I went last year and had a great time…hardly any tourists. It was awesome!
What time of year did you go? There weren't so many tourists when I was there, but definitely the local feel was gone and replaced by tourist-oriented commercialization.
Is this a round trip and is it done during the summer too?
Hi Vida. Yes, the funicular runs pretty much year round. There is a hotel and restaurant at the top. So, many people ride up for lunch or a stay and ride down. You can also go to the top and make a small walk, if a longer hike is not your thing. We rode down in the middle of a long hike.
Thanks so much for answering my question. I will try this ride this summer on my trip to Swiss.
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊

As Indonesian from another island, what you said was the ocean of truth
Thanks for the insight. I was wondering what locals from other parts of Indonesia thought. I think I will need to visit some lesser-known places in the country!
@@girodichatterbox public transportation such big problem here except big cities such jakarta, bandung, semarang or surabaya. Other regions also depends so much with motorbikes. As a person who just trying to walk in Bali. Yeah you're right here's not walkable. Not relate to that: You can try visit Tana Toraja because someone recommend me. Maybe different vibe with Bali. Also I am from Sumatera island where Rafflessia Arnoldi sometimes blooming if we are lucky to see them, we've got a lot beaches too.
