Liszt - Spanish Fantasy, S. 253 (Gunnar Johansen)
I'm pretty certain that this is the first ever recording of Liszt's Spanish Fantasy. Whilst you can tell that Gunnar didn't give this piece his all if you've listened to some of his other records, this performance is the best recording made of this work up until *very* recently. (In my opinion)
Now whilst I couldn't find a specific date to attribute to the disc, I think it'd be pretty safe to say that it was recorded around the 60s

Franz Liszt - Après une lecture du Dante: Fantasia quasi Sonata S.161/7 (Minkyu Kim)
มุมมอง 400ปีที่แล้ว
Uploaded this video cause I liked the performance, but only my left ear was able to enjoy the music. I thought of just fixing up the audio then donating to another channel for them to upload, but since Pavel asked me to upload his vid, I figured why not just post this here as well. Anyways, "Après une lecture du Dante: Fantasia quasi Sonata" which a bit of a mouthful, but you can call it "Dante...

Uploaded this video cause I liked the performance and the performer asked me to upload it anyways so whatev. Anyways, "Après une lecture du Dante: Fantasia quasi Sonata" which a bit of a mouthful, but you can call it "Dante Fantasy" for short. Ok, so this piece was originally composed in 1839 as S.158a, but was then revised to S.158b in the same year and that was done again as S.158c still in t...
Mazeppa Sketches (MIDI)
มุมมอง 6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Just a buncha sketches from the early 1830s for Mazeppa, it is wayy different from the Mazeppa we all know and love, and no where near as good, though it has some interesting concepts nonetheless. Took a bit of time to engrave the thing, but thx to Schize B helping me out with the MIDI a couple years back, I was able to somewhat blitz through it, so special thanks to him. Also, thx to you guys ...
Douze Grande Études S.137/9 'Andantino' (MIDI)

Finally, after all these years there’s an actual MIDI for S.137/9. Can’t really say it’s the best as it can be, since this is the first MIDI I’ve actually completed and so I believe there’d be tonnes of room for improvement. Any constructive criticism will be appreciated. MIDI is a weird fella, though they can play literally anything, their performances are often criticized for being too “robot...

At 15 (now) I studied half of this opus 1 by Liszt
when i was 15 i could play mazeppa from s.139
This was recorded at Johansen’s private studio in 1968 as part of his massive Liszt series. 50 discs long!
wonderful recording!!! just wondering, where did you find this?
Based Gunnar recorded so much!!! I love huang yi Chung's recording, but i think this take the cake for it be played with more intresting and music phrasing. Gunnars recording of liszt's el contrbandista is the best as well❤
when i was 15 i'm 14
Better than Leslie Howards version, in my opinion.
When Liszt compose Etude or exercises he is at his best Liszt is great in doing transcriptions and arrangements he has great sense of musical understanding He has one problem he cannot make music on his own like Chopin or Schubert he become clumsy ONE WAY HIGHWAY

#5 in any version has always been difficult. Even if you learn it and master it , sometimes you have to really focus to play it accurately. At least for me. I’ve been playing #5 since 1992 and still cautious when performing it
괜히 체르니 제자가 아니야.. ㅋㅋ
At 15, I was playing the keyboard in the church, and reading a lot about the great pianists.
U can't compare human to gods ,
I just turned 15 😳😳😳
2:29 So now we know that Une Barque sur l'Ocean was sailing under Her Majesty's flag.
"What if Mozart had written the Transcendental Etudes". I especially love beta version Ricordanza!
Liszt sounds like a big fan of Schubert
A better version then Leslie Howards rendition, and technically superior , in my opinion
Yeah, this version got the feel
Remembers me a lot of Alkan
The third one is more difficult than Paysage, indeed...
Its a sketch guys. Literally a sketch from a Franz LIszt
I was playing piano whenever and wherever I could find a piano because we didn't own a piano at the time. The apartment we lived in was too small and we couldn't afford to buy a piano. When I was sixteen, we moved into a house which had a piano already. The previous owner of the house didn't play piano but he hadn't tried to sell the piano. Since the piano was badly out of tune, I had to pay for a professional piano tuning.
When I was sixteen, a professional musician, a drummer, who lived and worked in Nashville, Tennessee heard me playing this piano and he told me I was already good enough to move to Nashville and play piano professionally. This drummer was a member of Roy Clark's backup band. Yes the Roy Clark who was a star of the program Hee Haw.
When I was 15 I was listening to Chopin. *hehe*
When I was 15, I was composed a music.
i kinda like the first one more than preludio lmao
Number 11 is so different than the corresponding transcendental etude which I love a lot !
@@NicolasEjzenberg No. 11 is it's own work. Harmonies du Soir is the revision of the 7th Étude in this set. No. 11 here was never actually revised, and was instead replaced with Erioca which itself is somewhat based off of the beginning of S.150. The closest thing No. 11 here got to a revision was Von Bulow's rewriting of it in the 1890s
I have yet to be 15
I'll come back to this when I'm 15
When I was 15... Oh wait, I'm still not 15
Consider for a moment -- a delicate little english "piano" from 1840 -- a big gilt salon stuffed with a herd of drunk, ill-behaved quasi-nobility -- Go, Franz, Go! (The ultra bass treatment of the theme was genius -- it made everybody shut the F up and pay attention).
nonsense
フリーメイソンからの贈り物😢
When I was 15, I bought a lot of classical piano music CDs and imaged I was one of the player.
there wasnt any internet back then. people actually did useful things
Insuonabile
Troppo difficile
Però sarebbe bellissimo poterla suonare..
I'm not even 15 yet :/
Really lovely pianist!
And finally someone doesnt take double notes twice slower than the begining or butcher it with fake speed and unarticulated sounds
1:01
Liszt probably revised this second version because he realized he was the only one able to play them in tempo.
11:57 imagine fanboying chopin som much as a teen only to be told “keep your pigs out of my garden”
No lol, that was composed 5 years BEFORE Revolutionary etude
A far cry from Un Sospiro and Au Lac de Wallenstadt. This is full of technical difficulties, and it doesn't really gel musically. I'd hate to be the poor soul playing it !
A pianist can't show any weakness playing Mazeppa. The speed mustn't lapse in any way. It's a wonderful piece, a majestic piece, and one that only the best pianists in the world can play well.
14:35 The original harmonies are so juicy and delicious. Liszt should have kept them in the left hand.
When i was 15 i write like only 10 works for piano, one string quartet and 2 quintets.
I got a question, is this score a scanned copy of the first edition score owned by Friedheim? And did he write his own versions of the passages with his notation or is it the actual manuscript of Liszt placed by Friedheim on the score?
It is the 1837 version of the Etudes which Liszt used as the building block to create the Transcendental Etudes in 1851. Friedheim's handwriting is a lot more neat than this.
@@thenotsookayguy makes kind of sense now since the score has T.H on the bottom which was the marking of the scores published by Tobias Haslinger and Haslinger died before the Transcendental Etudes would have been published
