    Let's fix the O-line, it's been an issue for about a generation. Then trade a late round pick to the patriots for Joe Milton and let's go.

    Harbaugh Offense is not an impressive scheme---too limited IMO and is likely not the model to follow to be on the cutting edge of creativity looking forward.

  • @jonadad
    @jonadad 55 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

    I'm sure that any former Head coach as an OC candidate will require that JS changes his O-line habits of the past 10 years. This could be a limiting factor in finding someone who will take the job since it's not likely JS will make such a major change in his habits. The obvious problem with Jake Peetz is that he will fall into the "hot young thing" OC type. Problem with this is that he will not offer continuity to build a consistent contender. The constant roulette of the "hot young thing" coming and then going when they get hired away is a major problem in fielding a "dynasty-type" team. It creates the boom-bust-mediocre cycle. They really need to get a former HC who is an above-average OC. This is a model that will allow year after year of continuity since the former HC OC type is not often rehired to be a HC again.

    This was an obvious need half way through this season as I posted quite a few times since. Glad they cut their losses early instead of doubling down on them like they did with Waldron. This shows JS is willing to operate differently than with Pete. Maybe this is a ray of sunlight shining on a new process moving forward---one that isn't willing to play the hopium game and instead one that keeps the tip of the spear sharp by playing the best probabilities and adjusting quickly when the odds shift. This is good news. I hope Grubb finds a fit that maximizes his potential. Staying with Seahawks into next year is certainly not that . . . . .

    Rob, about your comment on the type of O-linemen you'd like Schneider to acquire: for God's sake Schneider & scouting personnel need to overhaul how they evaluate linemen bc we need linemen WITH GREAT FEET. You block with your feet! Too many of our current Olinemen are completely disconnected from their lower halves. That's why they rarely ever recover leverage whenever they get beat in the slightest off the LOS!! Stop bargain basement shopping for D-2 one game wonders and GO OUT AND EVALUATE A MAULER WITH SOME GD FEET!

    I like the idea of Jake Peetz, the only problem is that Jake Peetz has zero play calling experience in the NFL. I better like the idea of a seasoned NFL OC, but not sure what options left meet that criteria, as well as McDonald's vision, are available. Might just be another tough situation for the Seahawks again this offseason. I would be completely shocked if Gruden ever works in the NFL again.

    • @robstatonfootball

    Seahawks 4th OC in 6 years. I guess they were all bad. Or is it that John Schneider doesn't care about the offensive line? I'm among those who think Grubb was the latest scapegoat for Schneider's ineptness or refusal to fix the OL.

    • @robstatonfootball

    Grubb got fired the second he called 14 straight pass attempts when Howell went in for injured Geno. To not settle a backup QB into the game and to not use your RB who was running through the GB D, in his extremely limited attempts, is just downright criminal. Grubb is lucky he was able to finish the season and wasn't fired on the spot after that game.

    Off season just got more exciting, going to be interesting when you start doing the mock drafts if we don't know who the OC is going to be yet. We have tendencies to learn, schematics, profiles, really exciting again imo. I do want to say though, I had hoped that Grubb would have worked out. He did bring some very good concepts to the game, I particularly enjoyed the tunnel screens and using our WR's over the middle. It was pretty obvious by the end of the first quarter though that this was a mismatch, this is the type of OC John would hire not Mike. I am pretty sure John told Mike he would find him a good one, don't worry about it.

      @@bretkester8316 I don't think Schneider wants the hassle or is willing to run the risk. He cares so much about harmony and positive energy in the building. Gruden's emails denigrate African Americans. I believe we have some guys from that demographic on the offense.

    No way in hell that Jon Gruden comes to Seattle after the stuff he said. This isn't Texas or Florida where they put up with racism and homophobia.
