I think you nailed it today with your comments on the GM and Geno. We are caught in between a rock and a hard spot now. Fortunatly we have a Head Coach who's improved the defense and has the respect of the players and they WANT TO PLAY for him. Nice job today.
Truth. Geno has had much better coaching, and o-lines throughout his career, and still performs the exact same way with horrible results. He’s on his fourth team for a reason.
Great video Rob!! Love the dedication and this video has provided some hope for the off season after rough couple of weeks for Seahawks fans. Look forward to your senior bowl coverage! As a fan I’m ready for a change at QB otherwise we’ll be in purgatory forever more, even if that means a different type of QB or exploring the veteran QB market.
I agree with your picks on John S , Ryan Grubb , DK , Reed , Dre Jones , Jones , Fant , Tyler and Geno needs to go. Finally someone who actually sees players performance
Grubb should stay the rest can go. We have to give him time to get the offense going. Fix the Oline and everything should be good. Can't fired someone in the first year.
Good stuff Rob. Depressing, but good work. I do think Geno will make a stink. And his horde of cultists will feed that delusion. That’s my biggest hope is that he spurs the talks so much we are forced to move on.
I'm a very big Geno fan but if he starts asking for big money I don't want any part of it. I hope he gets his money but I don't want it to be us paying him. If he starts making demands with the interception numbers he had this year im out.
I think the Seattle Seahawks need to take a bold and aggressive approach heading into the 2025 season to break out of the mediocrity they've been stuck in. First, I wouldn’t extend Geno Smith. Instead, I’d take a big risk and bring in Sam Darnold. His 2024 season with the Vikings showed promise-he posted a solid 67.3% completion rate, threw for 4,200 yards, and had a respectable TD-to-INT ratio of 27:11. Beyond the stats, Darnold has demonstrated resilience and a winning mentality, something the Seahawks could use at QB. To support this move, I’d promote Jake Peetz (you right with this Rob) as offensive coordinator (McVay Tree is still gold in the NFL) or bring in someone with extensive experience who can maximize Darnold’s potential and the talent of this offense (I want a story like Brain Flores, were everybody said How he did this this year, after this Fail in Miami). Stability and creativity in play-calling could make all the difference (run the fucking ball). Additionally, extending DK Metcalf should be a top priority-he’s a cornerstone of the offense (I still believe in this). Investing in 2-3 new offensive linemen is also crucial, as protecting the quarterback and establishing a strong run game are areas where the team needs improvement. On defense, I’d offer Ernest Jones a contract; his versatility and leadership are key. However, I’d trade Tariq Woolen. Charles Cross could be extended on a team-friendly deal, and Josh Jobe has earned his spot on the roster with his consistent play. Reed is a no brainer as well. On the flip side, I’d move on from Kenneth Walker III and Boye Mafe, as their roles could be filled with cheaper talent. Yeah you could bring them back but only on cheap deals.....we really need more players like Ernest Jones. I often watch games from other teams and think, "Who the hell is that, and why is he playing so well?" We don't need big names but players who play aggressively and have the right attitude toward the sport (the Rams and Ravens had often players like that in the last years). In the draft, the focus must be on offensive line, cornerback, and defensive line. Bolstering these positions is essential to building a strong foundation. To round it all out, a trade for a good veteran player could provide the spark this team needs to take the next step. Schneider will likely remain as long as the current ownership does, so it’s important that he embraces a more aggressive strategy. The current status quo of being a middle-of-the-pack team isn’t enjoyable for fans or future star-players. That said, I think Mike McDonald is an excellent head coach, and the franchise should give him the time and possibly even more authority to shape the roster his way over the next few years. I know Seattle is not a big market but like wtf we have soooooo much talent and suck in like no man's lands. It's so sad to see that home games are no longer celebrated the way they used to be, and many fans are turning away from the team...these are really critical years now...otherwise you need to sell the team to Jeff Bezos... As always thx Rob for the great videos, really enjoy them here in Germany. Go Hawks!
I totally get your perspective on Geno Smith but I don’t think it’s that you can’t do better than Geno but there is not something clearly better this season to replace Geno. Taking shots in the dark at Malik Willis, Zach Wilson or Daniel jones is all bad. I don’t think Darnold will be available either. Kevin O’Connell is a big believer in developing QBs and JJ can take his time and develop or they could trade him in the future. There are just too many “ifs” this offseason
Great thoughts and coverage Rob. You should do a show with Brian Nemhauser, as he is going to the Senior Bowl this year. Maybe go over some names that you like and for Brian to keep an eye and ear out for. Maybe get an interview too with some players. Maybe he can forward your info to the players to for an interview later on.
Heck no, someone will definately trade for him. He's perfectly healthy and in a system that doesn't work for him. He's gonna be such a pain to get and negotiate with, he's gonna want amon ra type money. No thanks see ya dk
DK has bad hands, gives up on routes, is a liability when comes to penalties, that’s not someone you give huge money too. Especially at that position. Will you get another guy that is a physical freak like DK, probably not. But ever year there are WR’s that come out of college that can give you the numbers that DK can. Is he a freak? Yes! Has him being a freak ever made him a top 5 WR, nope…
I hate to say it.. but when the hawks drafted DK.. i was saying that he shouldnt get a third contract.. i knew he could become a beast and beloved player.. but i dont think his body or ability will hold up for a third contract.. the money he will cost and the fact the hawks have just been a middle of the pack team.. DK should be traded, sadly.
I think all of your thoughts make sense. It seems obvious that Grubb will go and yet, I could see them giving him another year while focusing on building a functional O line. The organization has shown that they move slower than fans want them to-keeping Carroll for several years beyond the glory days, kicking the can on QB, keeping Schneider, emphasizing consistency on keeping bad o-lines together.
Hopefully Grubb, and Huff are both completely gone no later than this coming Black Monday. I fear Geno will be extended this offseason, and that will be an utter travesty. JS should have been canned at the same time as Pete.
Great thoughts and predictions Rob, a few of my predictions Grubb goes soon after the Rams game Geno will stay but not on a huge deal K9 is released / traded away (too injury prone and not running style we need) DK is extended Lockett unfortunately is cut Dremont Jones will stay with new deal Riq Woolen will be traded (doesn’t suit Mike Mac style of player) Don’t have enough knowledge to comment on who we could draft but will def keep listening to you guys who know a lot more 👍
I'm very skeptical that Geno will ever have as good of a year as he did in 2022 again. He's fine bridge QB for the next year or two, but still seeing tons of online Seahawks fans overrate him as a borderline elite QB who could take this team to a super bowl with a better o-line and OC, which I definitely don't see.
Daniel Jeremiah was defending Gino on broken sock. He said Gino only threw 8 horrible blatant to the other team interceptions... But he didn't mention in the other 8. Horrible blatant to the other team interceptions that were dropped. And it looks like auto correct has a wicked sense of humor.
It will interesting to see what happens with the offense with an improved offensive line, if we can run consistently it would be a great boost to Geno (not a cultist, be somewhat sympathetic to his plight). Another question would be do we need a proper nose tackle, that would turn Murphy loose to be more of a pass rusher. Also if a great LB or safety falls to us early do we grab him?
Geno would still be like he is, no matter which offense he is with. Nothing will change his playing performance, he has been who he is throughout his entire career.
Hey Rob, thanks for all the effort you put into SDB and the research surrounding the draft and the Seahawks. I'd be very curious about the opinions regarding Justin Fields within the league. If you could get him for a couple years for at max 10 million a year would he really be that bad of an option compared to 30 million for Geno? I know you aren't a fan of his, but doesn't he have better tools than the likes of Zach Wilson and Trey Lance, while having the added bonus of starting experience and continuous improvement at least on the statistical side of the game in every single year? There is a connection with JSN who is likely your #1 receiver for the future and I could see his mobility being a deciding factor in supporting the offensive line as well as the run game. If I recall correctly he was also heralded as a very smart player and great leader coming into the draft so why would he be a worse option than Z. Wilson, Lance, Willis? I see the Seahawks moving forward one of two ways at the QB position. Either you keep Geno for his brain/vet status more than anything and draft for example Quinn Ewers with the intention of starting them within 1 year or you go with any other option available whether that's Darnold, Fields or any other available QB and possibly still draft a QB just to spread your chances across multiple players. As for DK I think he is good enough to be kept around somewhere in the 25 million a year range. In my mind you just lock him up until 2030 and forget about the position. I don't see how you hold onto Noah Fant with the emergence of AJ Barner. Pharaoh Brown has to be gone just based on costly penalties alone. With how little TEs are utilized in Seattles passing game you can't justify spending anything above 5 million here in my opinion. Rip off the bandaid, get a cheap option or draft someone in the later rounds or even trade for someone with players you want to get rid off. Tariq Woolen or Dre Jones possibly? I can't see Wolen being on the roster next season with his issues despite his unquestionable elite athletic abilities. Just let someone else pay that next contract instead. I'm extremely curious what's going to happen with the O-Line because I'm entirely clueless there. What do you think is going to happen to Scott Huff, considering Grubb might be out the door?
For me, I've never been a fan of Fields. I don't think he can throw. I think he's a one dimensional athlete who has never developed. I think it speaks volumes that he was available for less than even Sam Howell and was shuffled out of the line-up quick-sharp when Wilson was healthy. I don't think he's a starting NFL quarterback
Hey Rob, love your take especially on the QBs related of the draft. But the fact we haven’t tried to get a QB like Baker, Darnold, Trey Lance, etc or any young guys who had or have some potential. So it seems we have whiffed on guys who are obviously younger and better than Geno, or not to mention not moving up to get a Bo Nix , Penix or JJ, who look much better now. I’m not counting Sam Howell, who looks meh. Not to mention Purdy and other players who look decent. Not going after anyone over 3 years is crazy to me. Geno is not the guy and tired of having to talk about him.
Good predictions, fellow Rob. I think the Seahawks ownership will stick with Schneider, since they basically cut a deal with him to move Pete Carroll out, and I think Schneider will keep Grubb as OC (Schneider doesn't like to admit he ever makes mistakes). I think Schneider drafts a CB in the first round and ignores the offensive line until late in the draft. I think Geno stays on a one-year deal, and the team ends up 9-8 again next year. I think the major changes will come in 2026, with either the sale of the team, or the firing of Schneider.
great vid. been enjoying the coverage asa new sub. but i do gotta say. not surpised for JS to trade up in the first round for a qb? id be surprised for sure. he hasnt done it ever for any player in the first. that i am aware of
Thanks for the content Rob! I think a potential problem with Peetz is that he has never called plays in the NFL. As far as I can see he has been an assistant coach or position coach. If Mike McD want to hand the keys to the offense to someone I think it would be very valuable to have an experienced offensive coordinator to fill the void when Grubb leaves...
I'm hoping they move on from Grubb, but part of me is afraid that they'll give him another year and not want to admit their mistake so soon. I think the signs definitely are leaning toward parting with him, but I won't be shocked if they don't.
Cheers Rob I know we were all pumped at the start of the season but I think the Giants game knocked the stuffing out of us all..I would have accepted the lack of p/off action if we had a bit of swagger all year but sadly no, its been a hard watch ,long nights in the UK for little reward. Anyway for me Grubb out, throw everything $ at both lines , Metcalfe out , I know you disagree but I have just had enough of this big baby, if he produces at another team so be it, but as the "clutch" player he never does anything when we need it only chat agressively. Yes Geno ruined my day in Germany and he has never recovered , keep him with a young understudy, who ? well there are people ( Schneider) getting paid a fortune to make those decisions so do your friggin jobs...... Lions v Ravens S/B
How much influence does Peetz have over spacing and route concepts as the passing game coordinator? Because that would be my one concern. Oftentimes they had WRs within 5 yards of each other on the field, allowing DBs to essentially cover 2 guys at once. I'm just ready for the Geno experiment to end. I fully understand that a guy like Justin Fields is likely a downgrade from Geno Smith. But I'm willing to take the risk of going 6-11 (the defense will probably be too good to go 4-13), with the chance of Fields playing complimentary ball with a good defense. He's mobile enough to escape some sacks, and isn't afraid to throw the ball away. I agree that Pederson and Daboll are either pipe dreams, or would be 1 & done. But given the two, I'd probably take Doug given his Super Bowl pedigree.
We don't know. But none of the McVay coaches succeeding have this issue -- the NFL novice who's never coached in the league before does. So I think I know where the blame lies
I think perspective is hugely important. The Hawks didn't wind up with a below-500 record in McDonald's first season. Even Dan Campbell's lions looked very bad in his first season with the Lions.
Cheers Rob. Trade DK for an elite OLineman who needs paying and the team doesn’t want to. Trade Gino to the Raiders, cut Lockett and get a JaG at qb. Draft an OLineman in the first and build behind an elite line with a great running game
Very few teams win 10 games and miss the playoffs everybody needs to lighten up there isn't a person on here that wouldn't have taken 10 wins at the beginning of the season.
Watching Grubbs pc today changed my mind a bit Rob. You might be off on that prediction if the Hawks feel like continuity is the way to go on offense. I do feel like there’s a chance Grubb gets lured back to Alabama. Chance is slim, but I think what happens in the last game will determine a lot there.
Any thoughts on Woolen? I’m a bit surprised you omitted him as he doesn’t play like the kind of defensive player that we all think Mike MacDonald expects. Curious if you think he may be a trade candidate
Thank you for the quick stats on Geno which is a reality check and confirmed my suspicions. 2.83 seconds in pocket average making the rank of 14 is UPPER HALF of the NFL. So much for blasting the OL, and I did suspect that the O-Line wasn't all that bad. I feel very vindicated. I didn't even realize that stat was kept. Time in Pocket was objectively AVERAGE! Get it? Not only that above 15th. Put that argument to rest folks.
I suspect much of the internal debate in Front Office will be ....is it better or overall more impactful to get a edge rusher in Rd1 then address OL in rd 2/3.....if there is another Jared Verse at #18 would you pass on them for a OG in Rd1? This assumes they believe Lucas can play another year at RT - if you want a starting RT then I can understand going RT in rd 1
I'm not so certain they give up on grubb because a lot of the fault is no run game and geno throwing crummy balls while looking straight at defenders. Grubb ran a successful run game at UW with Coleman so it's not like he doesn't mix it in but when k9 is the most contacted rb in the NFL behind the line of scrimmage it's hard to keep drawing up run plays. Given how bad our offensive line is I think if we get 10 wins that's not a bad season for a first year coach. Get geno a run game next year and draft Rourke or ewers and see if they can beat out geno
I haven't up on Hayne yet with his pot belly, while the team commented on his lack of strength early on so if he gets on a good weight program he could work out, I mean it's happened a over the years in the NFL, especially for the players who come from lower college level like Haynes did. The reason Haynes moved up draft boards was his great play in drills against high level college prospects where he shined, but maybe he just has get use to the higher level of competition and start pumping some iron.
Im curious how would you feel if they kept grubb? Would it be a meltdown? Im 80% think he should go, but I will ride with Mike's decision. He knows more than us imo.
Great recap Rob and Happy New Year. For me Geno vs Zach W or DJ is more of the same. Geno isn't going to get any calls - he'll stay around and we shouldn't pay him more than $20m. I do fear that JS will watch the CFP and will draft either Ewers or Howard - when you're fighting for your job there's a tendency to be desperate. Some rumblings that MN would trade JJ Mc - I don't believe it - MN can resign Darnold and keep JJ just in case. But the OL needs to be the priority - we'll see if it happens.
I don’t know a thing about Jack Nelson or Jake Majors, but they sound like the played oline for the Steelers back in the 90s for bill cowher….so I’m in 😂
Geno is what he is and he has reached his ceiling . A very good bridge QB but that’s it. This is why I’m tired of the “Cult of Geno Smith” here in Seattle. More than anything I’m tired of Schneider’s inability of deciding on a QB to groom. We have NO ONE behind Geno. Howell isn’t it in afraid. I hope Drew Aller does declare or def go for him aggressively next year to be our QBotF
@ I also agree with you that they will promote within because if they hire any veteran coach to be the offensive coordinator, he’s gonna want to bring his own staff, and I don’t see them really wanting to massively overturn the entire offensive staff
I'm going to go out on a limb and predict Grubb will be back after a very intense meeting on the direction of the offense. His saving grace will be the offensive line play with the inability to run block, even though it seemed to me Grubb even gave up on the run even when it got going good. I guess they'll decide it's better to stay with Grubb instead of starting over from scratch again. and it also depends if they already have someone else in mind.
@@robstatonfootball And it's also about Ginoes decision making and was that due to offensive line play or Grubbs pay calling.I would like to be a fly on the wall when Grubb sits down with coach and GM after the season.
this is the time fans usually say-let's clean house BUT there's not much in the cupboard-we are locked in "seahawks syndrome" string a few victories together against weak teams-and every one is talking playoffs-then lose 2 or 3-it's a pattern-I don't see it changing in the near future-
KEEP GRUB! You gotta give him a chance to coordinate with a better o line AND second year in a system let alone the league. They will take a significant stride next year
If Drew Allar changes his mind and declares he'd be my #1 want for them in the first. There's a lot of teams that need qb though so he could go early. Just like how we saw QB go quickly last year
We JUST drafted a te and have zero line protection and you want to go back to another te as your first pick??? Heck no take booker or even kelvin banks could fall to 18 and get some talent in there at o line.
I wasn't at all a fan of Shane Waldron, but even _he_ was able to get more out of this offense compared to Grubb! Ryan needs to go back to college football!
I'm all for Darnold but I don't see where they can sign him and address free agency issues. I'd rather see this team spend good money and avoid pushing bad money into the future.
I didn't know Jalen milroe entered the draft, he is the next Jayden Daniels and Lamar Jackson, in my opinion, and he will fit great in a Ryan grub offense, we need to move up if possible to get him, he got NFL star written all over him, in a Seahawks uniform
I definitely have watched him, his upside in my opinion is one to stay tuned for, you got to understand he played in a tough sec and still did a great job, I would give him one year to learn then let him takeover if the preseason don't impress, come on man it's going to be at least 6 or 7 quarterbacks worth taking a look at, we need to consider one of them at pick 18, dart from ole miss is another one, like it or not it's going to be at least 10 teams going for a quarterback in this draft, if we see a better deal like trading our pick to Minnesota for j j McCarthy I am with that also but we got to bring a our possible young QB in, Geno and Sam Howell are not it, grubb needs a say in this as well, cause he will be our offensive coordinator in 2025
His athleticism makes up for that and he ain't to bad in the pocket, I have seen worse, he will do better than anyone of them QBs in Grubbs offense that we have in the team, so tell me who do you think should be our QB in 2025, since you think you know whats best?
I’m not solely blaming Grubb but it hasn’t worked. His scheming, game flow, use of play action, predictable screens, inability to feature a running game, and other aspects - it just hasn’t worked.
They definitely won't take the risk moving on Geno. I'd imagine if this was a talent poor roster they probably would. Being a 9/10 win, fringe playoff type team makes that decision harder.
I think there's more risk in keeping him. Geno had what looks to be a fluke year in 2022, he has significantly declined each season right back to vintage Geno. This year Geno is playing on par to what his career has been. Taking his downward trend since 2022 there's a good chance that he won't be much better next year, more likely worse. Why pay a QB like that the 38m he's due next year or extend him? I feel there is less risk in drafting a rookie QB on a cheap rookie contract, especially since all rookie QB's from 2010-2023 with at least 12 starts have a combined average of 14.6 games, 3,250 yards, 17.5 TD's and 12.4 INT's.
@@Jason-lk9yi they are only a 9 win team because they played 4 backup QBs, 1 brand spanking new QB (Bo Nix), a bunch of washed up QBs (Rodgers and Cousins), and Kylar twice..... they are a 6 win team pretending to be a 9 win team.
I wanna see the seahwks get JJ McCarthy as their new Quarterback of the future. It's a no brainer that Sam Darnold is gonna stay. You can keep Geno Smith for one more year and let JJ Develop for another year. He turns 22 this year and he can develop well behind a vet QB.
I’m just totally done with Geno. We’ve seen his best,I’m not with it. Go and get JJ Mcarthy or Quinn Ewers. He had plenty of time to throw in some games, but he still threw INTs. Oline wasn’t the issue in the passing game.
Send Geno packing off to Hawaii to learn the sport of surfing with Pete Carrol, so we can get on with trying to make the playoffs next year without cultivating the art of red zone interceptions. Any chance we could nic Joshua Dobbs from the 49er's as a bridge in the meantime???
I disagree with you about G 2:56 rub I think they'll give him at least half of the season If he doesn't come up with the plays to keep defenses guessing and he doesn't run as many running plays as passing plays . A team that depends on the pass it will only be a 500 team if that I can't keep the linebackers . And defensive backs guessing. I don't think I saw one half back pass there is no trickery at all the some teams like to use the wildcat just to show something different that's a part of the offensive success it is the success of the offense keep those linebackers and bags kissing and then they're not ready for the next play. Gino I would as good as Gino is the problem with Gino is he's not consistent and and he makes too many mistakes in the red zone and yes I recorded back throws interceptions. It just seems Gino's are always at the wrong time LOL . I think they'll clean up their mistakes that they made that killed us in some games.. I think the biggest thing for this team is consistency . I really think they need to start looking for a Young quarterback. It was too bad about Drew luck but it is what it is Gino was a better quarterback but next year we need to pick up a rookie quarterback with potential and he has one year and he must be prepared to start in the 2026 season. This will be Gino's last year !!!!! .
You're still my favorite Seahawks channel Rob!

Agreed Grubb not ready for NFL offensive coordinator spot yet. Probably need to be a position coach first get some time under his belt
Love Jarran, get him signed up. !!!!
Fantastic video once again. I’m hoping you are wrong on a couple of those, but you probably nailed it.
Extending DK makes me want to puke, but it’s prob the right call. Especially if it’s not top dollar. His trade value is tanked.
If you can’t get a good trade then play him out on the deal and get a comp pick later
i think at this point if you can get a second rounder in return you should strongly consider it
I hate to say it.. but when the hawks drafted DK.. i was saying that he shouldnt get a third contract.. i knew he could become a beast and beloved player.. but i dont think his body or ability will hold up for a third contract.. the money he will cost and the fact the hawks have just been a middle of the pack team..
DK should be traded, sadly.
Early vid! Let’s go!
Dude it’s like you are speaking my my thought
Good stuff. I agree with all of it. Going to be tough to find a new QB. I hope we at least draft or sign someone
Agreed with you on Mr. GRUBB....Being in the NFL, he was out of His league, over his head...maybe sometime in the future BUT not now
I think Peat would good pick for OC. Good call imo.
Hopefully Grubb, and Huff are both completely gone no later than this coming Black Monday.
I fear Geno will be extended this offseason, and that will be an utter travesty.
JS should have been canned at the same time as Pete.
Grubb will get another year, but if Geno stays nothing changes and results will be about the same!
@
If both of the stay, then the results will literally remain the same.
Great thoughts and predictions Rob, a few of my predictions
Grubb goes soon after the Rams game
Geno will stay but not on a huge deal
K9 is released / traded away (too injury prone and not running style we need)
DK is extended
Lockett unfortunately is cut
Dremont Jones will stay with new deal
Riq Woolen will be traded (doesn’t suit Mike Mac style of player)
Don’t have enough knowledge to comment on who we could draft but will def keep listening to you guys who know a lot more 👍
I'm very skeptical that Geno will ever have as good of a year as he did in 2022 again.
He's fine bridge QB for the next year or two, but still seeing tons of online Seahawks fans overrate him as a borderline elite QB who could take this team to a super bowl with a better o-line and OC, which I definitely don't see.
nice
I love it when you come home park show good job
Hope they get this draft right. Hard to watch neither Bradford nor Christian looking like the answer.
Is JJ McCarthy on the radar at all if Darnold is signed to a big contract potentially?
He's a top 10 picked QB under a rookie contract that the Vikings think very high of.
Can't imagine they'll trade him.
Great job I love you and talk together
great vid. been enjoying the coverage asa new sub. but i do gotta say. not surpised for JS to trade up in the first round for a qb? id be surprised for sure. he hasnt done it ever for any player in the first. that i am aware of
For years he didn’t need to, they had Wilson
I'm leaving a comment because Rob told me to
18 isn’t a bad picking spot for a 10-7 club… they’ll have room to move up that won’t be too costly if a blue chip player is within range.
i predict Daboll as OC and Danny Dimes at QB. lol love ya Rob
Don’t put that juju on us!
Giant rejects, heck no!!
If Daboll leaves NY then MIke Kafka is the guy they'll interview from that staff
I agree on experience but who? And in fairness McVay, O’Connell and Coen never called plays before succeeding immediately
I'm hoping they move on from Grubb, but part of me is afraid that they'll give him another year and not want to admit their mistake so soon. I think the signs definitely are leaning toward parting with him, but I won't be shocked if they don't.
Keep in mind that Doug Pederson is from Ferndale/Bellingham, WA.
That doesn’t mean, if fired, he will want to rush right back into being a coordinator
@robstatonfootball Yup, true.
Id love to see Lockett retire a hawk he's been nothing but class but I understand if he wants to chase a ring too.
Dan Campbell inherited a ground zero rebuild, it's not a comparable situation
Cheers Rob. Trade DK for an elite OLineman who needs paying and the team doesn’t want to. Trade Gino to the Raiders, cut Lockett and get a JaG at qb. Draft an OLineman in the first and build behind an elite line with a great running game
Another year of Schneider & Geno the sulk
I didnt know much about Jake Peetz but looking up his resume he has a ton of offensive experience and i think he would b a reallly good fit!
Very few teams win 10 games and miss the playoffs everybody needs to lighten up there isn't a person on here that wouldn't have taken 10 wins at the beginning of the season.
What has this got to do with anything?
Watching Grubbs pc today changed my mind a bit Rob. You might be off on that prediction if the Hawks feel like continuity is the way to go on offense. I do feel like there’s a chance Grubb gets lured back to Alabama. Chance is slim, but I think what happens in the last game will determine a lot there.
Why, just because he referenced the summer? He won’t decide that
Keeping Grubb after such a bad 2nd half of the season offensively speaking is gonna be a tough sell to the fanbase. I just don't see it happening.
They’re not making the playoffs for a long time. The NFC is loaded even more than the AFC. They have a ton of work to do
Any thoughts on Woolen?
I’m quite certain they’ll move on from Grubb. It just isn’t working.
Also where would you have Drew Allar on your horizontal. board if he declared
Probably QB1 if he keeps playing the way he is
Geno Goes or I find a New Team. Fan since 77.
Don’t do meltdowns but I think it would be the wrong decision
@robstatonfootball thx for all the content
Great recap Rob and Happy New Year. For me Geno vs Zach W or DJ is more of the same. Geno isn't going to get any calls - he'll stay around and we shouldn't pay him more than $20m. I do fear that JS will watch the CFP and will draft either Ewers or Howard - when you're fighting for your job there's a tendency to be desperate. Some rumblings that MN would trade JJ Mc - I don't believe it - MN can resign Darnold and keep JJ just in case. But the OL needs to be the priority - we'll see if it happens.
The Saints, Colts, Dolphins, Titans, Raiders, or Browns would sign Geno
I don’t know a thing about Jack Nelson or Jake Majors, but they sound like the played oline for the Steelers back in the 90s for bill cowher….so I’m in 😂
😂
since 2013,14 championship year O. Line has been Mediocre at best...we NEED to focus on the LINE!
They asked macdonald about peetz yesterday in presser, and macdonald had a bunch of praise for him ,sounding like he would want him to be OC possibly.
Question if grub goes, is Huff staying or does he go to?
Good question. I'm not sure. I think he might stay, Macdonald gave him a game ball recently
@ I also agree with you that they will promote within because if they hire any veteran coach to be the offensive coordinator, he’s gonna want to bring his own staff, and I don’t see them really wanting to massively overturn the entire offensive staff
Do you think we will explore a jj McCarthy trade?
No, I think Minnesota will keep him and Darnold for 2025
Gotcha, just curious with them grabbing Jones and looking at the lack of draft capital they have this year. Thought it might be something to look at.
I don’t see any way he is back, it’s about way more than the OL
They will take a significant stride next year
No you don’t. It’s been a disaster
Rob, thoughts on the Hawks blowing it up and trading for J.J. McCarthy?
Can’t see them being interested in McCarthy
If Drew Allar changes his mind and declares he'd be my #1 want for them in the first. There's a lot of teams that need qb though so he could go early. Just like how we saw QB go quickly last year
What about Will Howard and Riley Leonard
Appreciate the vid as always Rob. I expect nothing but mediocrity and boredom from this team until Schneider is gone.
Would Signing Justin Fields this offseason, releasing Geno and Lockett to open up a bunch of cap be good to build our O-line
As much as I've liked k9 the poor guy is the on the same path as penny. If you aren't available for your team then I'm not sure what the future is.
I _highly_ doubt he'll be extended past his rookie deal which means he'll only be here one more year.
I’m all in for Warren at t.e if he’s there at 18
He won’t be I’m afraid
We JUST drafted a te and have zero line protection and you want to go back to another te as your first pick??? Heck no take booker or even kelvin banks could fall to 18 and get some talent in there at o line.
The amount of people who want to bring back Grubb is baffling. He has been awful in his play calling duties.
If they signed him, his year one cap hit can be $7-9m. That's what Baker Mayfield's is
I didn't know Jalen milroe entered the draft, he is the next Jayden Daniels and Lamar Jackson, in my opinion, and he will fit great in a Ryan grub offense, we need to move up if possible to get him, he got NFL star written all over him, in a Seahawks uniform
Have you seen him play!?!?
I definitely have watched him, his upside in my opinion is one to stay tuned for, you got to understand he played in a tough sec and still did a great job, I would give him one year to learn then let him takeover if the preseason don't impress, come on man it's going to be at least 6 or 7 quarterbacks worth taking a look at, we need to consider one of them at pick 18, dart from ole miss is another one, like it or not it's going to be at least 10 teams going for a quarterback in this draft, if we see a better deal like trading our pick to Minnesota for j j McCarthy I am with that also but we got to bring a our possible young QB in, Geno and Sam Howell are not it, grubb needs a say in this as well, cause he will be our offensive coordinator in 2025
@ he can’t throw from the pocket
His athleticism makes up for that and he ain't to bad in the pocket, I have seen worse, he will do better than anyone of them QBs in Grubbs offense that we have in the team, so tell me who do you think should be our QB in 2025, since you think you know whats best?
Need picks as many as possible to build the trenches
Do you think the pats would move off Joe Milton and if so would you want to target him?
No, I don't think he's a NFL quarterback. He's just a big arm
@ thanks for the reply and your hard work covering the hawks.
You’re saying they’d let Geno go to bring Jones from the giants in. In my opinion, they’d be taking a step back.
When did I say that?
I don't know how every year we blame Offensive Coordinators when with these terrible Offensive lines they can't do anything or run their systems!
@@GreenBeanGreenBean Yep
I disagree with you about G 2:56 rub I think they'll give him at least half of the season
If he doesn't come up with the plays to keep defenses guessing and he doesn't run as many running plays as passing plays . This will be Gino's last year !!!!!
.
You can't sit around waiting for Ryan Grubb to learn how to coach in the NFL. It hasn't worked
