Fall Spotted Bass Fishing on TOPWATER / Blue Back Herring Lakes
Today's video takes place in early fall in a clear water highland reservoir that is dominated predominately by spotted bass with the primary forage being blue back herring. Targeting brush piles and roaming fish with a topwater walking bait utilizing forward facing sonar was key today.

how about some map work along with video for newbies to the lake
What has happened to new fishing reports
Hey man where you been??
BEAST MODE-IMHO!
Didn't realize you were on Douglas until you hauled it on the dock. One of the better lakes in the area for Large Mouth. I have the same pains with my 195. Looks like they've fixed some of the issues on the new layout, but I'm not trading just for that. I don't use those dry storage boxes much and thought about finding bluetooth or marine speakers to fit those holes and just doing away with them. I about traded/sold mine due to fit and finish issues. It's a budget boat, yes, but come on. Vinyl flooring pulling off the deck. Cutting my fingers on metal shards because they didn't clean it up well enough. Advertising drains on storage boxes when the drain tubes just terminate at the bulk head and not out the transom. I've learned to live with it, I guess.
The Bandit Crappie Series slam the fish here in Tennessee. Disappointed they dropped the 200 size but the 300s work just fine trolling for slabs!
Outstanding man
That reddish orange one you painted i like that Milton
The one hundred bandit is outstanding too love it in ponds try rootbeer chartreuse good color is it
Great video. Very helpful and love the accent - sounds like mine.
Rootbeer chartreuse is my color very good try it milt
Outstanding I like bandit cranks milt
Glad I came across you man! I’m definitely going fishing today!! I am new to fishing so if anyone has any tips I’d greatly appreciate it!
I lined mine with Styrofoam and it works fine.
Nice! Cool Musky too..... Best fight of the day.
Spray foam lol I felt that, had my issues with some spray foam for sure
You changed everything except the motor 😂.
Mike Baker would be proud of you.
I have tried the offshore deep-water fishing via fish finder not successful, two questions: 1, this style is good for larger mouth or specially for smallmouth; 2, winter and summer is better. Thanks
For the live wells, take a short thin strap like is used for the rod tie downs. Add one chrome connection piece to the live well and one to the boat. Stretch the short tie down strap between them when you are trailering the boat. Available at BPS. Quick and easy. Problem solved.
Someone had dropped a can of that foam on the road and I hit it with the wheel of my truck and was hauling my new tracker. It went all over my boat and I could not get it off. For the most part after about 2 years, it kind of faded away from UV rays.
I learned the hard way not changing the hooks when I first started using these baits ugh 😩. I lost a 9 to 11 pounder first time I fished a model A. Lure came out and hit me in the chest. My buddy had told me to change the hooks when I first bought one and when this happened to me he goes. I told you to change the hooks. Lesson learned and haven’t had any issues since. CHANGE THE HOOKS.
Fished the Arkansas River last night and murdered the spotted bass on the Bandit 200 in red-crawdad. I was a little surprised because the shad were super thick, and bass were feeding on them, but they wanted the craw over shad patterns I threw. Once it touched the bottom in about 7 feet of water, it was getting slammed. Have to weed through the rough fish. I also caught four drum, and an alligator gar that was about 40" long and took me 35 minutes to land.
This was hard to watch. So many hook ups that should have been boated. Slow your retrieve dude!
This is my favorite 2D video on TH-cam. Thanks
Good review, I just smashed the walleyes with a pink and yellow 300 here in Wisconsin.
@0:41-0:43 shitting my pants 👖 at that moment every single time. Younger me didn’t care older me has some sort of issue that I truly don’t understand but good content man.
Very informative video for this Floridian. I'm heading there in 2 weeks, with my boat. I understand in the heart of the summer, it's tough fishing. In your opinion, should I just forget about beating the bank, and just try to find offshore fish? I'm going up there blind, other than watching videos like yours. Also, is there any tips you'd pass along for catching smallmouth? It'd be too cool to catch at least one of those. Thanks for any other advice. This video alone was a great starting point.
That’s the only lake I fish I caught a 7 pounder there
i can't believe you complain about things you can order and switch out yourself. i was watching your video until i realized you were complaining about so many simple fixes you can do yourself. maybe you should go back to driving a car only. unbelieveable!!
Hey Ryan! I'm gonna head up there this weekend. Have they started eating the swimbait again?
Im sure there is a swimbait bite somewhere on the lake but I haven't been on Douglas since April because my boat has been in the shop to have a new lower unit put on so I cant say for sure. Good luck this weekend.
@@RyanEppsFishing didn't know that. That sucks to hear about your boat. I'll be in my kayak Saturday and back in my boat on Sunday here on Old Hickory.
Doesn't look like a Helix7 Screen? Looks moreso like the screen of a Core Unit?
Ryan looking at a used 2018 196trx . How is it still holding up? You using it still?
Fuckin broken record
Why are you walking to the back of the boat when you catch a fish? Really hope your not keeping the fish. Let em go dude...wtf
Good video, however I'd like to see the fish get released alot quicker. Keeping those fish out of water the entire time you describe the bite, is not necessary.
Where do you buy the micro ledge heads?
Great information! One question. I’m fishing a 100 acre lake that has gizzard Shad. I’m seeing baitballs that I assume are gizzard fry. I’m wondering if during the summer months if there tendency will be to stay out away from the banks unlike threadfins. Haven’t fished this lake long but I’ve not seen fry up shallow or in shallow cover during warm months thus shallow fishing has not been like you’d expect. So I’m thinking the bigger bass are out with them?
Ryan where is a good spot to launch on Douglas ? I’m visiting in first week of April .
What was the date of this tournament?
What kind of set up do you fish the A rig on?
Just keep reeling and lean in to em
Good video man! We are heading down to chick April 10th.
Great detailed video ...!!
y'all are crazy for not leaving soon as you heard the thunder
Way to go Ryan, ky
Love the tournament coverage
It would be helpful to know if you’re fishing upper river, middle of the lake, near the channel, or in a creek. Thanks
