The two best Inline-6 motors together in two great cars; the RB26 in an S14, and the 2JZ-GTE in an Altezza. Just great.

The problem I have heard is the incoming air sensor for the Cobalt SUCKS. What I mean by that is, they only detect a certain amount of airflow which is what the stock intake can take maximum and maybe just a hair more. Removing all that crap will increase air flow, but not by much. I don't know if on a freezing night it will throw a CEL. Just saying... There is a replacement performance incoming air sensor I was thinking about buying along with an Injen intake. People who bought them like them.

The Prelude is more of a sports coupe whereas the Cobalt is an economy car. The Prelude on some years hits 60 in 7, supposedly. I never timed one is why I say that, it is listed as such on websites and magazines. The only real sports coupe in the line up of Cobalts is the forced air induction modeled ones, supercharged or turbocharged. I bought mine for fuel economy, but it is a base model.

Rotaries naturally run rich, so this creates a LOT of flame shooting out the back when the throttle is pulsed at high RPM's.

that is just the tip, no big change in that because it is still single piping all the way back. Although if you keep stock piping your not gonna have significant performance increase no matter what muffler you choose. the reason most use fat mufflers is for the 'jdm' look. dual tip out of a single muffler is kind of ricy. but to each his own, and no there is no significant performance difference,

Thanks,but when I say dual, i mean : watch?v=tJzA_qMoXMw The s14 in this video has that big,wide exhaust. now my question is this: would it make a difference if i had the big wide exhaust, and if i had the dual exhaust like the prelude in the video(performance wise)? and why do so many people have the exhaust that the s14 has? I just prefer the look of the exhaust that the prelude has, and wondered if i'd be sacrificing performance by having a similar exhaust as opposed to the wide exhaust.

Well the thing is about dual or single tip is the amount of cylinders or if your running a turbo. Most NA 4inline sport a manifold that puts the 4 exits to 1. Take for instance a BMW 6inline, it combines the first 3 into one and that last 3 into another giving you dual pipes. Which go from front to back dual. that's why v8's mostly have duals as well.

Nope, spot on. Air (Intake or exhaust) needs to flow with the least resists. Though changing your intake or exhaust to a free flow item will only create more horsepower and sometimes even create less torque. Though you want to have more torque in daily traffic. So changing your exhaust or intake will only benefit you on the track. :)
