It feels like Crab Stinger works well because 1: over commitment to AA to counter the potential of butterflies 2: Crabs natural high HPs for a Tier 1 unit to tank for Stinger weakness. Starforge's ability to keep players guessing what type of unit the tier 2 unit was key. I saw a number of Blink Hunters after your Star Forge finished expecting to counter Butterflies only to see Stingers.

glad to know I wasn't the only one loving stinger-crab during the beta. I did enjoy swift-shocker-crab as well because you can get two pocket destroyers to obliterate bases or counter big.

They rushing bases 'cause they're looking to capitalize on people who don't know how to punish.

Destroyers are probably too oppressive IMO. One shotting big units with auto targeting is way too much. Makes that entire class of units feel completely unusable.

I will always miss the first two ranks, winning every game with king crab timing attacks. Seriously though the game is so much fun. I only hope they tone down some of the counters and also don't of the damage done outside of counters. Some interactions are just too extreme imo. But I had such a great time, I'm really missing it now. Might play sc2 for the first time in ages.

I am so excited for the next beta. I hope they don't keep us waiting too long!

I really hope they don't screw up with the monetization because that's the only thing that can go wrong at this point.

not bringing air in game 1 and then the opp not going air in game 1 kind of summarizes the strategic skill level of most pro-gamers in most games, where innovation and strategies have to trickle into pro play, originating from the trenches

I'm pretty sure crabs received some form of buff in the beta and are intended to be a normal unit now, which I applaud. They felt much stronger this time around. Unfortunately without stats we'll never know.

I miss the game so much! Bring it baaaaaaaack I also hope they tone everything down as far as damage. The counters are too strong, and then certain things that counter amazingly well also kill units they don't counter incredibly well. It's all a bit overly volatile imo. Just reduce the dmg overall, again imo... But I am truly enjoying it already. Just what I think would help. Edit - I love how the meta involved even such a short time frame. Early on there were several units I heard were bad, then I'd experience them in a match where they were used well, then I'd see a great player doing that with them and everyone Isa saying how strong they are. Reminded me of the early release discovery period, always so much fun. Edit - I can understand the f2 situation because grabbing your new units isn't easy without camera keys. They'll eventually get used to each new unit being added to 1 and that when they add a unit to 2 3 or 4 it's removed from 1. I think being comfy with that will be required to avoid moving the whole army.

Lol. I am the proud chat whinner who triggered this whole wasp defense experiment and I laughed out loud on stream when you got wrecked that first game! 🤣 but great learnings afterwards. appreciated the effort of bringing boannan and printf to figure this out.

We didn't see too much of it in this video, but another thing to take into account is crabs do surprisingly well vs shockers/mortars and other splash damage units. On the other hand wasps INSTANTLY disappear vs any splash damage. Which is a big part of why the crabs are so much nicer in the midgame

Beta is over again!? guess it is the 18th Hope they figure out how they wana make money and just give me a game to play. Great video I normaly run scorps but il try crab.... next time.. I suppose but it could all just change. Other games have been in developent and let me play them can we just drop the game allreaddy and do changes as we go? Seems like it works as it is. I dont care what selling point they want battle pass box whatever I would have happily given it allreaddy. I just wish I didnt have to work all weekend and now cant play T.T You know what makes Battle Aces fun!? playing it. You cant have fun with a game you cant play.

I will take 4 Wasps over a Crab any day

havent watched the video yet, but as a wasp rush enjoyer the thing that usually pushes me back is just delaying your expansion or tech regardless of what comp you have. if you did unfortunately fast expo against wasps and they come knocking, the key is to spend funds on your secondary unit and hope its a projectile one. the blink anti air units or hornets work great for this.

I think the simplest solution would be to have all the units available for free Warpath tiers while buying the premium would unlock them all at once leaving some unique skins and extra creds for premium. There still would be issues to figure out like how reasonable it is in terms of actual profit or grinding time, but I think having immediate access to new units will be enough for most people to buy the BP while not leaving free to play gamers too far behind

How is this even an issue? LoL has been selling champions for money for decades, isn't that p2w? Seems like cheap gamers trying to make a big deal out of monetizing a product. People really go on pointless crusades.

You could even create some ranged anti air units, to kill the wasps easier while in between the workers.1 worker kill is like 45 red resource and 20 blue resources? So at the start throwing away wasps as an investment does work out quite often, since they only cost 25 red resource. Another thing, if you go quick second base that is often an auto-lose vs 1 base wasp-hornet rush, especially if you have units like recall, or those overclock bots, you can kill them down in small numbers way to easily by surrounding them.

"If it's just about the counters then that would be bad too" Welp, after the tastelesses tussle where practically every single match featured the only all-rounder unit in the game (stinger) because everything else just gets one shot and the game is just rock paper scissors without it it seems they're pretty far into the "that would be bad" territory. Not a single entry of any of the big t1 units because theyre functionally unplayable, and t3 ground big never featured in any decks because its realistically untechable when the t2 counters just instagib them and make your investment pointless. The destroyer, of course, was in half or more of all the decks because the threat of its mere existence turns the game back into a t1 micro battle. The first beta was already pretty RPS, but it struck a good balance (other than the destroyer still not belonging in the game) and you COULD play around the counters if you were better. Thats gone. The games just a deck based coin flip OR a micro battle of stingers and air runbys. Its less healthy than ever.

Who is this game for? People that want to play an rts but actually don’t want to play an rts and they like to build decks? I can hear the fake excitement announcer voice it’s the same tone as the fake stormgate excitement when he used to cast that, I think this will go the same way.

Best defense is to go Wasp yourself and just play even better. Thats what I can tell you as a 6.5k Wasp abuser :)
