We didn't see too much of it in this video, but another thing to take into account is crabs do surprisingly well vs shockers/mortars and other splash damage units. On the other hand wasps INSTANTLY disappear vs any splash damage. Which is a big part of why the crabs are so much nicer in the midgame
Lol. I am the proud chat whinner who triggered this whole wasp defense experiment and I laughed out loud on stream when you got wrecked that first game! 🤣 but great learnings afterwards. appreciated the effort of bringing boannan and printf to figure this out.
Love this! As a crab player I totally agree. Crabs are not great at STOPPING a wasp rush, but if you can hold on, you typically trade army very well which makes up for the worker loss somewhat. Plus the midgame like you said ..
You could even create some ranged anti air units, to kill the wasps easier while in between the workers.1 worker kill is like 45 red resource and 20 blue resources? So at the start throwing away wasps as an investment does work out quite often, since they only cost 25 red resource. Another thing, if you go quick second base that is often an auto-lose vs 1 base wasp-hornet rush, especially if you have units like recall, or those overclock bots, you can kill them down in small numbers way to easily by surrounding them.
I'm pretty sure crabs received some form of buff in the beta and are intended to be a normal unit now, which I applaud. They felt much stronger this time around. Unfortunately without stats we'll never know.
havent watched the video yet, but as a wasp rush enjoyer the thing that usually pushes me back is just delaying your expansion or tech regardless of what comp you have. if you did unfortunately fast expo against wasps and they come knocking, the key is to spend funds on your secondary unit and hope its a projectile one. the blink anti air units or hornets work great for this.
The overkill problem is even worse with knights, they overkill by 160. Also, because you can only build a few of them, they easily get surrounded & can’t defend multiple locations easily.

There seems to be some high pitched sound a few times, around 10:38-10:45 for example

Is it possible to defend Wasps with Knights? I've wanted to try Knights out but they seem like an auto-loss to wasps
should the worker line just be restructured so that melee units can actually defend. the gaps could be widened
Best defense is to go Wasp yourself and just play even better. Thats what I can tell you as a 6.5k Wasp abuser :)

Kinda tired of seeing Wasps every game I play of Battle Aces...
Recalls absolutely WRECK wasps, to the point where Tier 1 is almost useless for the wasp player. Major advantage at the start.
