    Newbie here. I want to ferment in a keg. I have a floating tip and spunding valve like yours. To test I filled my keg with water with 10 lbs of CO2 pressure. Hi, you need to connect the spunding valve to the gas in side of the keg. Most people will replace the long liquid out tube with a short gas tube with a floating dip tube to avoid transferring a bunch of sediment once the beer is done fermenting. Cheers

    I see your point with a wet mash. I had a lot of stuck mashes in the Gen4 when using the water calculations from brewfather which is always around 3,5 gal for a 11 lb grain bill. Maybe i should go your route and go up to 4,4 gal mash water for a 5 gal batch. Btw great content as always. <3

    • @tomar3
      @tomar3 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@fokkedeboer2727 because it's arguably the easiest one to clean. All these gimmicks to do with harvesting yeast and dry hopping can easily achieved with the smallest bit of ingenuity. The nooks and crannies of the tri conical provide harbours for bacteria and complexity which can go wrong. A floating dip tub will enable you to leave the yeast and trub in the bottom for harvesting. Add some sterile water and just swill it out. For dry hopping, a hop sock with a magnet placed inside can be secured to the top of the fermenter once filled using a second magnet on the outside. Then when you wanna drop the hops in, just pull the magnet off. For me I value simplicity. And the all-rounder looks so easy to clean.

    • @graintoglass

If that alone doesn't do the trick, remove the recirculation arm, open the valve and direct a pressurized stream of water from your bottle/carboy cleaner through it. Hi Paul, love your style of brewing there:-) I am brewing an imperial stout using Mangrove Jacks M44 yeast at 20degs C, 36 hrs in, no movement yet, any suggestions?

      M44 has a bit of a lag time. Any signs of fermentation yet?

    I just purchased the Mammoth conical fermenter. I'm planning on brewing hard cider and using it instead of a plastic bucket. I'm a novice so I'm hoping to get some advice. After the cider is finished fermenting, can I dump the yeast through the 1/2" valve at the bottom and then add priming sugar for carbonation into the Mammoth and then bottle? Or do I still need to transfer the cider from the Mammoth to the carboy, add the priming sugar and then bottle? Thanks for the help!

      Hi, you should be able to dump the yeast and bottle from the Mammoth. Cheers

    I live in Asia, the water temp is always around 85c for cooling I use the the chiller that comes with the brewzilla using any form of counter flow chiller would not solve the problem as I always have to refrigerate down 10degs or so, so in the fridge it goes for a few hours. Great video though as always:-)

      Your ground water is definitely to hot for these chillers. You would need to use a bucket filled with ice water and a pump instead of your tap water for it to work. Cheers

      @@graintoglass that temperature was a mistake, it’s 30c don’t know what happened there?? But I still have a temperature problem. Done a stout today, had to chill in the fridge for 8hrs for pitching. Thanks for your advice though:-)

    I think a push down button tap on top of the bottle disconnect would be so much simpler

      Hi, it will depend on the PSA you set your regulator and the temperature of the beer. If your beer is in the fridge @ 10psi it will take 2 weeks or so. If you want to speed it up I do 30psi for 2 days and then lower it to 10psi. At that point it's mostly carbonated. Cheers
