I’ve got the brewzilla one. Similar results to what you showed. I like it.
I don't know why i didn't try it sooner. Definitely worth $20.
Love the comparison equipment videos as they enlighten to what other options can deliver
Thank you!
l've heard if you pinch the end of those metal whirlpool ends to a 1/8" slit they work fantastic. Thanks for the video. Cheers 👍😊🍻
Cheers!
I use an Anvil Foundry and their whirlpool arm. I pretty much only use it for circulation when my wort chiller is in use. I have heard whirlpool is supposed to to make that cone at the bottom like your middle breezily did, so you can pull out the clear wort instead of the hops.
I use the brewzilla arm with about an 8"/200mm silicone hose extension cut with an angle on the end facing the side. I find that works better. I only whirlpool when I use multiple ounces of hops. My set up will siphon through my counterflow without the pump operating. When I do that my brew ends up having much less matter being pulled through the false bottom. It also gives me better control of output wort temperature.
I'll have to try that!
I use whirlpool to help with the immersion chiller. Once down to pitching temp, let it settle then transfer clearer wort to the fermenter.
Do you use the pump or the spigot to transfer to your fermenter? Cheers
@@graintoglass pump to transfer to fermenter.
@@graintoglass What is the difference between pump or spigot transfer?
@@Kucuno1 I never used the spigot and would only recommend it if your pump is clogged. Cheers
I use the Brewzilla whirlpool arm. Relatively inexpensive and works great.
Cheers!
I have the Brewzilla whirlpool arm. I’ve seen some people squish the end of the whirlpool tube to create a higher velocity, similar to putting a finger over a garden hose. Would be cool if you tried that!
Hey, you're the second person to mention this. Definitely need to try it out. Cheers!
Hop spider no problem
I know many people use them but I'm not a fan. I find I don't get the same hop utilization as when I just toss them in. Maybe I just need to try one that doesn't have a fine mesh. Cheers
I have the brewzilla one and for me it's been worthless. It barely barely gets any Whirlpool going at all. I pretty much just use a spoon and stir it anymore.
When you use yours it's doesn't turn out like in this video where most of the hops were in the middle?
@@graintoglass it hardly gets it moving at all. I've played around with the angle. There are other TH-cam videos where people have tried to modify it by crimping or bending the end with not much effect. There's really no good way to get it pushing the worst in a circular direction. I've thought about trying to use a pipe bender to put a slight curve on it. It creates a kind of lazy river flow that just doesn't do much.
