Why Rap is horrible today. It’s not the same as it used to be. Artists used to really rap about things that happened and to uplift people. Nowadays, it is so sad. Women artists are disrespecting themselves with so much crap that I don’t wanna say. The male rap artists are just the same because they brought the streets into the industry and so many rappers are getting locked up because they can’t leave the streets alone when they get a lot of money, let alone leave their city. When you get popular as an artist, leave your city immediately! It’s good to come back and help your people, but don’t live there. But Rap is such a dangerous genre and being a rapper is a dangerous job because in your city, you get love, but also the most haters. Those are the ones that want to test you to see if you really about that life like you say you are. Even this drill rap is bullshit. Like you talk about killing people that look just like you and smoking on your enemy. Shit is so stupid. You fighting and killing people over a block you don’t own. You just went it. I listen to rap music from outside America more than America. If you can find me a artist that doesn’t rap about the same crap and try something new, I’ll definitely listen.

When it comes to why rap music sucks now I believe that one of the main reasons why is that everyone is trying so hard to focus on music that goes big as soon as possible instead of focusing on a niche audience first which would help them at least be able to be themselves more which would mean their music would not all sound the same but since everyone is focused on clout so much that is why the music sucks because they all sound the same so that is one of the reasons why rap music today sucks so much it is because everyone wants as much attention as soon as possible instead of focusing on making music that provides the listener with the best experience.

Technically, hip hop nowadays is a lot of singing over a hip hop beat, which was kind of what r&b is.

i do understand that people miss old r&b. but r&b and music as a whole is always changing. in the 90s they said the same thing about how music ain’t that good because it’s new, even though the music was breaking records at the time. also the way we consume music is difference then how music was consumed even 10 years ago, which affects how an artist would release their work. all i’m saying is, let artist of today mature and grow into themselves, instead of just complaint about music was better back in the day. so no i don’t think r&b is dead, especially because we have people like sza, victoria monet, and coco jones that are running modern r&b

There's nothing special about rap or hip-hop, especially in the last 25 years. Many people, black or white, grow out of it by the time they hit their 40s or so. Or get a little class and education. I know ex thug dudes who grew up with gangsta east/west coast stuff back in the 90s, sagging their pants and all, who now are mainly fans of rock or blues, etc. What's hilarious though is seeing a 40 year old brotha still sagging his pants, hat on sideways, driving a 15 year old Escalade with 24" on it. Just gotta laugh. And don't worry, the entire world is laughing at the "culture" too 😅

"Lemonade failed to produce a single radio hit", oh you are so wrong. "Formation" hit number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, That's a hit! Do you know how many artist are hoping to get a number 10 spot on the Billboard hot 100??! With a number 10 hit on the Hot 100, you have a hit single. "Sorry" also hit Number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and "Hold Up" hit number 13, those are mainstream commercially successful singles. "BEYONCE: SELF-TITLED, Drunk In Love hit number 2 on the Billboard hot 100 and Renaissance "Break My Soul" hit Number 1 on the billboard hot 100 and her New single, "Texas Hold Em'" Hit Number 1 on the billboard hot 100

Hip hop may the most influential genre, but what is it influencing? It is influencing a behavior pattern that is destructive. The interesting point is that the negative influence primarily happens in the Black community. Young people of other races and ethnicities may listen to negative rap, but they are not trying to live the life style. They're not running aroud trying to be fake gang bangers and ending up dead or in jail. At the end of the day when those kids go home it's all "Leave it to Beaver". Our children are the ones suffering. Below is a link to a list of rappers violently killed since 1987. I challenge any and everyone to find me a similar list regarding any other genre of music. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_murdered_hip_hop_musicians

I hear a lot of ppl blaming the artists but we all know that the artists have limited freedom apart from the label's interests. So it's the labels that have gotten worse, and why? I'm thinking it's probably because the largest companies in the music industry are too big and top old and now they're afraid to take risks. So instead we're being given stale music with the same sound and safe subject that will be a safe return on investment for those companies. It's the same issue going on in the movie industry. No risk, just sequels.

Hmm I wouldn’t classify the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill as solely a “rap album” just because she’s mostly singing on the album. However, it does fall under the umbrella of Hip Hop which includes rap, R&B, and etc. I think the point still stands but I just wanted to clear that up even Tyler, the Creator’s album Igor wasn’t really a “rap album” but still fell under the rap category at the Grammys.
