Mhow, Madhya Pradesh
The Infantry Research Centre & Museum at Mhow is the first internationally benchmarked military Museum in India. The museum showcases the evolution of the Indian Infantry over the ages, the battles fought and its achievements over the years with the theme line “INFANTRY THE ULTIMATE”.
It is further divided into various periods of History and major wars fought. The different galleries showcase the history of the Indian Infantry from 1747 till today.
The galleries cover different topics starting from the European Trade centres in India, Battle of Plassey, Carnatic Wars, Battle of Buxar and British Possessions in India till 1767, The rise of Marathas, Anglo Gorkha war, Rise of Sikh Empire and the first war of Independence / Mutiny of 1857. The participation of the Indian Soldiers in the first and second World Wars.
The other galleries cover the different wars fought by our infantry soldiers after the independence, i.e 1948 war with Pakistan, 1962 war with China, 1965 war with Pakistan,1971 war with Pakistan and liberation of East Pakistan and creation of Bangladesh, The Kargil war of 1999.
There is a separate section of Hall of Fame and the Gallantry awardees.
