Clear and concise, great job. Only thing I still don't know is exactly what calk to use, I'll figure that out. Oh and I subscribed and liked.
Nice. Integrity and honesty.
Hey, my man. Just wanted to thank you for this vid. I have a simple repair to do on my roof and was just looking to make sure I do it right. Very glad I found you. You're obviously a pro and you made everything very easy to understand. Again, thank you.
Great video
What is the name of those type of nails?
Why didn't you just change the shingle and keep gittin it? That roof doesn't need replacing.
Awesome demonstration. I have roof problems myself. This is a great simple way to fix a temporary problem if you have a solution not far away.
why does it need a new roof when about 15 shingles would fix it? this is why insurance is getting out of control, for the same reason medical costs are. company practices are to charge as much as they can instead of diagnose and perform spot repairs, a roof like this should live a life of at least 20 years. i appreciate knowing how to tarp a smaller area effectively though.
Great video
Do your nails have to go in the tarp holes? Edit: nevermind.
Thank you
Appreciate this video. It helped save me over $300 from a con artist trying to rip off my family replacing a SINGLE broken shingle on the roof. The old 'If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself' seems to hold true in a lot of areas in life these days. Owning a home means you need to know more about repairing your house than the people you're trying to hire who are "supposed" to know more than you, it's pretty sad you can't really find reputable, fair, honest and reliable contractors anymore.
Do you come to Mobile Alabama ?
Where did you get that belt for the hammer?
Thanks, learned a lot!
I’ve got 50 on a roof and farmers just wants to pay for them to repair it. It’s a nonrepairable
What dobyou have on your shoes?
lol if i dont have a blade . ill use that kitchen knife
awesome advice . thank you brother
Great gift to the rest of us. Love your asides about 4 vs. 6 nail contractors and use of math. Thanks!
Thank you for this
Great video. The adjusters and insurance agencies are true scam artists. I dont know how some sleep at night. This year has been insane on denials. I mean totalled roofs and theyre only covering metals. Lol
Hey man, I have to re-shingle one side of the home due to west wind. Currently have a 20x40 tarp on the roof thats been good for the past 2 months. Since it's May now, rainy season is slowly going away. My question is, can you remove the shingles little at a time due to a sunny day one day and rainy the next?
Pipe may be too long and have to cut.
You don't say how long pipe has to be.
A little silicone mastic that’s approved for wet surfaces would be another option..
🎯 Why tarp it when you can coat it.
Good basic guidance !
a roofing company was gonna charge me $750 to tarp a spot about this big-what a scam!!!
not a roofer but common sense tells me not to put more hole on the roof😎
As soon as the tarp go up I'm going to forget about it 😂
Wooo right down the road. Great craftsmanship
How long where ur cap nails? 1” ?
I just want to thank you for the commentary. That natural way of teaching, and the humility of acknowledging other good contractors and how to find them, is so helpful.
THE BRITTLENESS TEST In this post we talk about “The Brittleness Test.” However, before delving into the specific discussion of “The Brittleness Test,” it is important to first understand how industry accepted test methods are developed so we can ask - Is “The Brittleness Test” an industry accepted test method? Industry Accepted Test Methods Consensus Test Methods: Testing organizations frequently develop and issue testing procedures for building materials. Typically, the way such procedures are conceived is through a technical committee within the organization. These technical committees are open to the public, comprised of stakeholders in the industry, and are typically volunteers. For the example of roofing materials, representatives from manufacturing, insurance, those who represent property owners, contractors, engineers, scientists from research facilities, and representatives from trade organizations, among others, could make up the members of the committee. The committee then assigns different sections of the standard as well as research, to be written or undertaken by the different members. The draft standard is then iteratively submitted to the rest of the committee for comments, edits, and suggestions, until a final version is prepared and balloted. Organizations such as ASTM and ANSI generally publish testing procedures in this fashion. More information on ASTM and ANSI test standard development can be found at the following links, respectively: www.astm.org/MEMBERSHIP/standardsdevelop.html share.ansi.org/Shared%20Documents/Standards%20Activities/American%20National%20Standards/Procedures%2C%20Guides% 2C%20and%20Forms/ANSI-Essential-Requirements-2018.pdf Peer-Reviewed Methodologies: Another way to publish scientific methodology is through an academic journal. This is typically referred to as a peer-reviewed publication. The peer-review process begins with scientists observing, studying, and qualifying or quantifying the phenomenon. These scientists then complete their analysis and write an article on their results. The article is submitted to the editor of a relevant journal. In the case of building science, articles can be submitted to the journals of Building and Environment, Construction and Building Materials, Materials and Structures, Building Research and Information, or Materials in Civil Engineering, among many, many others. The editor of the journal would then send the article to other well-known scientists, in the same field, for their review. These peer reviewers read the article and provide feedback to the editor. At this stage, the editor can compile a list of comments for the authors or if the article doesn’t meet the scientific standards of the journal, it can be rejected. If the article is not rejected, the authors then answer reviewer’s questions and comments, revise the document, and resubmit for further review. The process iterates until the peer reviewers and editor are satisfied the scientific standards of the journal are met and the article is published in that journal. These two ways in which testing methods or procedures are published are important because it shows that procedures have been reviewed by an established and rigorous process by stakeholders in the industry-the same entities that will use the procedures. Further, these processes assure the reduction of bias by any one branch of the industry because it was compiled by members of the different branches of the industry or it was reviewed by different members of the industry. In effect, it serves as a checks and balances system.
What's the velcro thing on his feet called?
You can tell who the adjusters are in these comments 🤣
Thank you so much for that video. I was going to just lay the tarp and hammer it on the leaky roof and not put it under the shingles. That was very helpful.
Great video! Good to know!
Can I use a clear shower curtain instead of a tarp?
You just made like 20 more roof leaks. I guess you gotta stay in business somehow lol
I didn't think those blue tarps were waterproof?
Pro tip . don't nail through your glove when installing the tarp
Good information 👍. Wonder how much is this little fix! Probably toooo much for the work. But overall he knows what to do
Neat trick. Unfortunately, I don't know where my leak is on a section of roof, so I have to go over the crown of the roof and all the way down.
Excellent. Nice presentation
Thank you very much for your videos, I have a question. How do you cover the holes in those nails when it's time to remove them?
Best 3-tab repair video, thanks!
I mean your you could use cats paw/small prybar and do it right but hey what do I know I'm just a stupid roofer
I like it. Good information, bro. I'm doing that job tomorrow.
