This tune brings back so many memories because my mum died recently and she gave this keyboard which belonged to her as a child. I’d always play this tune and it’s so nostalgic and I’ve recently discovered the name of the song.

The memories ... the memories ❤. Not the exact demo my family's Yamaha had since we owned a different model I believe released the same year but so close. That keyboard is why I prize the one I own nowadays.

I saw one of those in a second hand shop way back in January or February 2006 but the only reason I didn't buy it was because at the time I wanted a PSS-280. But in May 2010 on my college break I did also find a PSS-170 in a charity shop which I think is the same but smaller, the PSS-170 doesn't have effects and it only has one speaker. Even though I bought a PSS-170 at the last minute I changed my mind and took it back, maybe I might buy another PSS-170 or PSS-270 someday.

Got one of these for Christmas back in 1989. Loved it and its stereo symphonic which sounded fantastic. Flute was my favourite voice. I remember getting bored once and taken it apart and was amazed at how high-tech it looked inside in its day. Orange LED for almost every button too. Built in speakers were superb. This thing had quality written all over it!

EPIC - my grandmother had this keyboard

Wow... I remember my grandparents had one of these. I didn't know how to play it, so I just made a lot of weird noises with it. But I remember loving the Demo song. This is hitting a lot of old memories, ahhhhhhh....

My grandmother bought this for church functions back in the late 80s. Somehow it came to live at my house in the 90s. This demo song is like a part of my soul hahaha.

The Roland SH4d makes an excellent drum synthesizer despite its lack of velocity modulation to anything but volume. I love the silky sound the Midas Venice wraps around the mix and the HX Stomp is the most capable FX pedal I've ever owned.

This is random but sometimes when I 🍄 trip I hear the “ghost” sound in my head. It’s been over 30 years since I’ve heard it but it still… haunts me. That’s why my search for it brought me here. Thanks.

I picked one of those up in a charity shop back in 2010 but changed my mind and took it back at the last minute ( after also realizing one of the keys didn't work ). Maybe I might buy another one someday or get one if I find another one in a charity shop. But I do also have a PSS-470 which sounds similar, I wonder if this one uses the same FM synth chip?

We might give the author some credit. The song is a cover of Billy Joel's "Just the way you are" from 1977. This version was programmed by employed Yamaha engineers.

Is that, like, 6 midi synths, 4 sequencers, 3 mixers, 2 drum machines/samplers, one modular synth and a WTF oscilloscope... but the music sounds like it could all be coming out of one low tax synth? 10/10 for credit card debt, 2/10 for outcome.

Someone threw a very similar model (pss 170) out and I took it. A few keys were dead, but they were all in the high octave.

Happiest keyboard with saddest demo song gave the scariest nightmare to me as a kiddie; in that dream my mom drowned to that tune. I hated that song for so long after that!

My great uncle passed and i got his late daughter's keyboard, this one. I wasn't even a thought when this came out. I love it all the same ❤

when i was a kid one of these was in the house but nobody new how to play it, there were no learning materials and no internet. Eventually the age of the C battery fell off and my parents werent running out to get Cs just for this thing, and we werent interested enough to beg them to. Could never find a dc adapter that worked for in the house and one day when my little sister was watching something dumb on tv that she thought was super exciting she started jumping up and down but slipped and landed ass flat on the keys breaking a couple off. that was the final nail in the coffin for this sweet prince. fast forward 20 years and I was trying to remember the model number, and when i saw the image and heard the demo there's no doubt in my mind this was the guy right here. props to yamaha for making affordable armature keyboards, then and now.

Good, but a little to much hardware for my taste. I have only the Oberheim Matrix 1000 with Programmer and the Minilogue XD from this setup, but that's enough.
