      @robsweekendgarage I purchased a brand new 07 Tundra SR5 4x4 has 310k on it. The starter when out at 270k in the driveway. Still never left us stranded! We live way up north near the Canadian border. Lots of salt on the roads. Rust on the truck is minimal. Had a wheel speed sensor rust thru, fix it. Back to the salt. The nearest car wash is 30 miles away. So, I connected our house water to the outside hose with PEX pipe. Works great. The tailgate handle came lose, I fixed it. A front wheel bearing was making noise, I replaced it. The engine and tranny are still going strong. I change engine oil at 3k, tranny oil at 60k, diffs at 30k. Everything else on the truck works. The cloth seats don't have nothing wrong. Best money I've ever spent!!!¡!!!!

    • @robsweekendgarage
      @robsweekendgarage 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Absolutely been the best truck I’ve ever owned. I had to replace the rear wheel bearings and then the rear end once as the pin in the diff broke - semi common on earlier trucks. And common only in the sense that not much goes wrong in these. Unfortunately being a buffalo NY truck, the tin worm has gotten into it. Two big holes in the bottom of the bed. Had a brake line blow out this year and really need to redo all of them. Been considering buying a newer crewmax but prices are insane. Dream truck is a 2022+ 1794 with the 6.5’ bed. Super hard to find. Prices are coming down but still too much for something I only put a few thousand miles a year on.

The BMW’s got oil leaks and the Audi-the transmission failed at 100k. I got a 2012 Honda civic at 160k miles and no issues. Im buying a 2021 Acura TLX, so I wont be in this shit after one year of owning a car like a bimmer. To hell with German vehicles.

      Easy, plastic is cheap, so it’s cheaper for them. These last for about 3 years after which it goes to the second owner. These last second owner is who ends up fixing things. Guess what. The updates are then release to replace plastic with metal. The days of longevity are gone. It’s all about getting the customer to return and pay for repairs.

    • @robsweekendgarage
      @robsweekendgarage 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If they haven’t been done - it’s time. The plastic gets very brittle and doesn’t take much for them to break. At this age it’s nearly impossible to remove them without them breaking. If you see blue zip ties around the knock sensors and the hard lines - they’ve never been done. Good time to do the ccv, vanos line, intake gaskets and vacuum lines. Optional is the starter since it’s right there.

As far as the automatics, the ZF auto is stronger than the GM auto as well. Most of the hate for the getrag comes from drifters who constantly clutch kick them non-stop.

      The only markings on the strut bar is Active. No idea if they are a good bar or not. Dusan Strut Works (DS Works) makes some really nice strut bars front and rear for these cars. I’m not sure if you can code out the airbags or not. I would maybe scan the airbag module with INPA to see if there’s any codes. You can also do a cluster test to see if the airbag light works. It’s an LED so really won’t burn out. It should also light up when you first turn the key on.

    The diamond shaped key on a 323? I always thought those were used on the facelift model. What year is this? Plus, those m52tub engines are my favorite. They run so bloody smooth and dont burn a lot of oil, opposed to the m54 engine. I believe the oil rings on the m52 are better.

      @@jornhietbrink870 someone made a new key for it and they used the diamond key. It’s a 2000 323ci A somewhat common solution to the oil drinking of the M54 is to use M52 oil control rings.
