What is the brand and part number of the upgraded aluminum oil filter housing? Would have been nice to have the part numbers that you were using for this. Great video, thanks.
@@jockobacumbo623 the owner purchased the oil filter housing. I didn’t see any brands listed on packaging so I’m not sure where he got it from. FCP Euro does sell an aluminum upgraded filter housing by Rein and would have been my choice if I had purchased the parts.
Hello following your video of changing the aluminum eye box I would have liked to have a link to a BMW series 1 120i lci from 2018 I would like to make the change for an aluminum one also thank you for your response good luck to you and thank you
I have a BMW motorcycle. They put quick connect couplings on the on two fuel line. The couplings are plastic. Black plastic. At 80k miles, fuel at 32psi spraying directly on a very hot engine. The first and last BMW I will ever own.
Hi. Can you help us with the part numbers? I already changed my filter housing with an aluminium one. All perfect but my coolant still going down from another place.
@@robsweekendgarage it is my source. But after de filter housing change I have not any drop on the floor and not a clue about the possible coolant leakage
Is it possible to change the plastic Upper coolant hose that goes into the block with 3 bolts without removing the intake and just taking the DME out? I really want to do this as a precaution before it leaks but don’t want to remove the intake since I’ve never done it and seems a bit complicated. Thanks and great video!
This is why I’m sticking to Honda and Acura. I had three German vehicles in my life: two BMWs and one Audi and let me tell you… all of them failed at or before 100k miles. The BMW’s got oil leaks and the Audi-the transmission failed at 100k. I got a 2012 Honda civic at 160k miles and no issues. Im buying a 2021 Acura TLX, so I wont be in this shit after one year of owning a car like a bimmer. To hell with German vehicles.
I still don't understand why, after paying so much money, do BMW and Mercedes-Benz insist on using cheap plastics on their cars. Even more boggling is people think these are great cars.
They are beautiful cars I think and great to drive but very expensive to maintain especially at the dealership if you can’t work on them yourself and they are very safe vehicles.
Same as dodge and other manufacturers. They don't want you to keep the car longer than 5 years or near 100k miles. Doesn't matter make or model anything for you to buy a new car.
Easy, plastic is cheap, so it’s cheaper for them. These last for about 3 years after which it goes to the second owner. These last second owner is who ends up fixing things. Guess what. The updates are then release to replace plastic with metal. The days of longevity are gone. It’s all about getting the customer to return and pay for repairs.

Love the video❤ and seems a bit complicated. I wonder how much it cost if I take it to independent shop.

Would need to know what is leaking. Realoem.com is a great resource if you put your vin in you’ll get the entire parts list for your car.

I don’t remember off hand. The owner ordered it and provided it.
@@robsweekendgarage Finally I went for water pump change after the new filter housing. And It seems that the whole problem was solved.
Where are you located do you work on other peoples BMW you do good work
Im outside of Atlanta GA. I generally don’t work on other people’s cars. Im just a hobbyist and do this for fun.
@@robsweekendgaragewish i could share a beer with you! Thanks for sharing the knowledge

Can you do a follow up on the oil filter housing? Is to good? How is it holding up?
The owner has not had any problems since the repairs. Been driving the car all over.
What brand aluminum ofhg did you get?

The intake is very easy to take off. You might be able to get to that piece without but IMHO not worth it. Super easy to pull the intake off.
@@robsweekendgarage that’s great to hear! Do you recommend changing all the intake gaskets or can I reuse old one? Appreciate your help!
Somebody know how much the dealer charge or this repair ?
About 5k
Jeez a bunch of plastic ! Well done 👍🏽
是的,要换成铝合金👍
Great job 👏👏👏

Because of ecomentalists
It’s actually much better than Toyota plastics. Toyotas these days have engine failure at 30-50k miles and transmission shit out often.
