How do you know how good a show is regardless of which country it comes from ? it's how fast Netflix puts it on the screen. I was hooked within the first five minutes it was a phenomenal show. So many got hung up on the age gap and I could not see what the problem was. I'm older than my husband it is just a number not a designation. I have loved Wu Jinyan since Yanxi palace but she has been given some real bad reviews on some of her shows like Royal Feast which was phenomenal there wad not one bad scene in it everyone who is in that show acted their socks of. It was also a true showing of the times and just how bad women and men had it in the palace and the change that had to come. The double is my choice for the drama of the year. Wu Jinyan was acting two parts the betrayed wife and the betrayed daughter just the shear amount of work to do is awesome. The Duke was the perfect leading man. The ex was evil and watching them all fall was lovely. The Duke's two side kicks I loved. I have watched it 3 times already

I loved The Blood of Youth as well. So I'm very much looking forward to Dashing Youth, especially the fighting scenes. I also can't wait for Cheng Yi in Go to the Mountain.

Zhang Linghe is great in The Princess Royal, so adorable. He wasn't convincing in TSOKP. After interesting stories from The last cook and Joy of life 2 it was difficult to find something on the same level, but The Double and The Princess Royal pacing and good acting get me hooked. Zhang Ruoyun is still my 🥇 with his acting, roles and dramas with those 3 princes Joy of life is Joy of watching, specially Liu Duan Duan. Fantastic cast but they should have choose Li Fei as YBY. At the moment I am lost in a Lost you forever 1😂, before I catch up with 2, and I love it. Cheng Yi always, Strange Tales 2 definitely, another good drama with Wang Xingyue, I'll check Dashing youth. Thank you 🤩!

They already collaborated 3 times already- One & Only, Song of Youth, & Story of Kunning Palace. Their boss already denied rumors of the 4th collaboration anytime soon.

I only didn't like endless staring 😳, but Kenny Lin face and appearance is like a chocolate candy bar on the screen🤩. Best ending ever, I can't understand why 99 % XX dramas have stressful last 10 episodes and open or tragic ending. That chicken🤩 and comedy, everything else was great, I really enjoyed watching it. Not so good first 6 months in CDL, except 2 Li Xian dramas Shooting Stars and Will love in Spring.

Isn't Jiangli abandoned rather than a run away? She was away for 10 years.

Thank you for a great review. 😍I love chinese drama, but the amount of episodes always scare me. Lol. However, I love Story of Yanxi Palace, so I give it a chance. I love it until the open ending. I wish they will have a full episode of them living happily ever after. Thankful for the 5 minutes epilogue or I would not have survive. This drama certainly became one of my favorites. I really recomended. ❤

encore: you say -on the ‘scandal’ - she “recorded” the conversation? Wow, so she set this guy up to take revenge…Ugly…The dude obviously was dumb enough to trust her.

She was great in Fighting for Love….I wish these people did not take their personal life public, I now see her and always think of her as a whining harpyie washing her dirty laundry in public. Do not get involved with actors if you do not want to be cheated on! Chinese men are not famous as faithful husbands exactly…and many of us aren‘t any better.

It's been a while since this aired but the drama was able to get the bad taste of Princess Agents out of my mouth. The start was pricelessand and could have lasted longer for my taste. Good acting and CP by the leads and the supporting roles rounded out the story well giving us a rich world setting.

I love The Legend of Shen Li so much, and I watch it over and over. I always love Zhao Liying, she is the best of the best. And I love Liying and Kenny, they are the most beautiful couple ever ❤❤❤

I loved this drama so much and the chemistry between the main leads was hawt. In addition the side character arcs were well written and engaging. It was funny and thoroughly entertaining from start to finish.This show is definitely one of my favs that I will go back to rewatch. I gave it 9.8/10.

I loved this drama so it became my relaxing time drama and rewatch it when I want to spoil myself. There are many advantages this drama has to compare to other Chinese costume drama which make it watchable for me as non Asian audience: Of course as you said its production, cinematography, music,…all well down but let me to add my references as well 1- Maturity of acting and unparalleled chemistry 2- Jut right emotion . While many Chinese actresses or actors strangling to show right emotion ( sometimes show unnecessary and exaggerated emotion or lack of emotion) , in this drama specially two main actor and actress show exactly what is enough emotion perfectly , they don’t play with audience intelligent. 3- unlike other Chinese costume drama , the story is not based of pity love, unwell developed love , desperate attempt for attention from love one or jealousy ( specifically from woman). The legend of Shen Li interpretation of love is so revolutionary and modern in Chinese Costume drama. 4-This drama is not fooling audiences with up and down emotion or bringing some shinny objects to gain attraction, I can say all the characters in this drama were well developed 5- Acting , I love their acting specially Zhao Liying And male lead who brought such a colourful characters to full life, they didn’t use unnecessary tears, laugh, body language ,…but I got the characters fully, I felt their sorrow, pain, joy, hate and love. And mor important,Bravo.

The comedy here was awesome such a satisfying reunion between the leads

Crying with tears in a drama is no big deal 😢 other actors use eye drop to take the crying scene. Eye drop is often use in western drama to enduce tears in an emotional scenes.

Have watched Chinese dramas on Viki and Netflix, but lately my TH-cam algorighm keeps bringing up titles, so I'm taking note of the new/monthly titles and with so much choice, it's hard to keep up. Loved The Double! The ending Viki provided (wonder which ending Netflix will have?) was Xiao Heng reuniting with Jiang Li, but probably in a dream of/or in the afterlife. However, did see stills/thumb nails of the ending with the daughter (and the body guards now as her babysitters? Episodes with them babysitting the little girl, who takes after both parents, could be hilarious). Understand that the Viki ending was a way to "uncouple" for individual actor's fans? And that different endings were shot. I was totally into the CP/couple. Can see similarities to Love Like the Galaxy, but this was a more mature and a revenge take while that was more an action teenaged romance. Did not like the histrionics of the scheming relatives in Love Like the Galaxy, the immaturity of Zhao Lusi's character and felt it took too long to meet Wu Lei's character. With The Double, we see Xiao Heng's first encounter with Xue Fengfei early on. Even though they're only seeing each other from afar and hear or have heard the gossip about each other, it makes a lasting impression. For him it's re-enforced as he watches her funeral procession and then they meet again in the mountains. Also loved the evocative intro and outro both of which bookended each episode beautifully. Agree that a second season would have been nice. Felt Situ Jiu Yue/the poison princess should end up with Ye Shijie! And do Xue Fengfei's father and brother return to their hometown to govern again? However, in comparison to The Princess Royal, this was a more spare production with less budget? which they used to perfect effect! Was stunned to find out how young Wang Xing Yue is. He's one of those young actors who presents as much older/mature. In Korea Lee Jae Wook is like that too. That makes them viable leads for actresses older than they are. Don't forget Amidst a Snowstorm of Love which is where I first saw Wang Xing Yue as the very memorable 2nd ML. Really enjoying The Princess Royal including the evocative intro and outro. Hoping for a happy ending this time around. ; )

BEWARE THIS DRAMA CONTAINS ADULTRESS WOMEN AND HER NEFERIOUS AFFAIRS: THIS IS LIKE THE WORST DRAMA I HAVE EVER SEEN. Let me start by saying the ONLY thing I liked about this drama is that they are both brilliant strategists. I know you all are going to say this just a drama and yes, it is but the message this drama sends to all people who are weak-minded is that its ok to HATE, ITS OK NOT TO FORGIVE, ITS OK TO TAKE REVENGE ON YOUR ENEMIES AND TO HURT THEM LIKE THEY DID YOU. ITS OK TO DO IT ON YOUR OWN AND NOT NEED A MAN. With that said she is still married to this man and yes, he did her bad and I would also like to knock his teeth out but dead or alive she is still legally his wife. I did not see divorce papers being written. This so-called love story is based on an adulterous, feminist with lies and fakeness. This is a revenge/unforgiveness drama, and we all know where that gets us in real life. Joyce Meyer once said “Harboring unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping your enemy will die.” But instead, you are the one that is dying. You don’t get a happy ending after you choose to go to their level. We are called to go higher by showing love, grace and mercy. I know it’s not easy when people hurt us like this, but unforgiveness/revenge should not be on the table. But hey this is a feminism romance drama, so I guess she was kissing and hugging herself behind closed doors. She should have starred in this drama on her own because it’s all about her and her selfish need for revenge and the so-called male lead should be shot for supporting her so called revenge because he does not know what a true PROVERBS 31 women is. This is just another feminist drama wanting to dispute that we as women do not need men and that I can do it all on my own. Oh, I am a feminist, I am so perfect, I am so good, I don’t need a man. All the men in this drama including the main male lead is just a bunch of wussies who should have worn dresses and make up instead of wearing swords and boots because you made all men look like cowards. Look, as a woman I understand the time and the prejudice against women, and I applaud her for wanting to stand up against it and I am all for that. However, we don’t do it with revenge and if you are blessed to have somebody fight the fight with you then why not. But it should never be based on revenge, unforgiveness, humiliation and shame. In the end, she has no worse than her husband that I never see her divorcing him and the Princess lady (Psycho women). They are all the same. You all should go to watch SWORD AND BROCADE. That women in that drama are bullied and hurt to no end but as a true Proverbs 31 women she stood up with grace and beauty and showed love and forgiveness instead of hate and unforgiveness.

Loved the drama, however the ending was too ambiguous. It really didn't give me that happy vibe and her face sure didn't look ecstatic to see her husband. I think It was her imagination and desire. Maybe the blossoms signified he was there in spirit. Waiting to see the second ending.❤

I’ve been a fan of Wu Jinyan since Yanxi palace, Also loved Royal Feast despite the bad reviews, but she really shines in the Double. Episode 11 was so riveting, powerful, sober and beautiful when she played the Qin. It was like watching am opera. She conveyed so much raw emotion without uttering a single word. 10’s across the board. Everyone was exceptional in their characters

I want her, one day in the future, to be in more interesting genres like kdramas Goblin, It's okay not to be okay, The Glory, Descendents of the Suns, W and etc

It's worth watching only because of Wang Xing Yue. He carries the whole drama on his shoulders, talent, and good acting! Also worth mentioning the good acting of Chen Chiau En, Taiwanese actress whom I like very much and watched a lot of dramas with her, some of them several times!. Unfortunately the FL, Wu Jin Yan, is absolutely no match to Wang Xing Yue. She is 33 y.o. but with her plastic surgery (which twisted her face- her right side with a big bump is bigger than the left) she looks 50!!! They shoot her through the filter but it doesn't help. In some scenes she is absolutely ugly and all young actresses next to her look like angels.Wang Xing Yue, 22 y.o. is like a baby next to her! The FL should be younger and match the ML's age! In spite of this he pinned his role in this drama. Good Job!!!

I'm a Gong Jun fan and was hoping this drama would showcase more than his abs. But in spite of the fact that I enjoy watching his pretty face, I just couldn't watch this drama. Same with the Last Immortal - even though I have adored Zhao Lusi in everything I've seen her, I couldn't get into it.
