    Plenty of guessing and speculation, little solid fact. . Do you realise you essentially said that since China controls the Lithium, they will control the supply of Lithium in (High Lithium) Solid State cells? (IF they arrive, and IF they're economically viable) . As for that supply of Lithium.... (Compounds) Australia supplies double the amount of Chile at #2 and almost 3 times the amount of China at #3. . Did you mean CELL production? Or did you mean ACCESS to the material? China is obviously "close" geographically to Australia and has a strong "Belt & Road initiative" link with Chile (Major Sea Port AND Railways under construction) plus now Argentina (at #4!) is joining that initiative with the opportunity to export to China through the same Chilean system. We could even add Bolivia to that list. . It's almost as though China had (has) a multi-decade PLAN to first develop, then use the technology? . Cell/ pack prices are currently way down, in part due to the "Pull-back" by well known major vehicle manufacturers.... Prices may rebound slightly IF those manufacturers return, but they have a problem. IF they try, they would have to negotiate with the country they pulled away from.... that both controls the materials, plus manufactures at least 70% of the cells globally.... . There's a strong possibility that country, rather than negotiating against "Tariffs" would be dealing with their new partners (Formally 3rd world, but rising!) in the colletive mentioned above, who will have Chinese manufacturers building cell factories, vehicle factories and raw material refineries nearby? . They may be "short on capacity" to supply those with openly hostile Governments? . As for Sodium ion cells/ packs, I have little doubt that they will leverage their industry to dominate that segment as well, after all, the storage market is both truly global and HUGE compared to EVs. . I have no doubt they'll use the Solar panels not sold due to those same "Tariffs" to power the factories building the cells?

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your knowledgeable analysis. Indeed China is executing on a multi decade plan of domination in production and supply chain consolidation. And they have bets in every sector of not only battery production, but alternative energy sources as well. A formidable competitor.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, that is true. However, one thing I have learnt in the last 16 years in solar is that products come and go with great regularity. But the solar panels will last a really long time and it pays to work with inverters that also have staying power. Right now Enphase and Solar Edge have 95% of the market. No on else has broken their hegemony in residential solar. It might happen in the next few years, but for now I stick with these two. Thank you very much for watching and commenting.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Glad you liked the video. Home Storage is relatively new. Volumes have only started to pick up in the last 2 or 3 years. Electric Vehicle development was driven by one man really - Mr Musk. And the payoffs are immediate and volumes plentiful in the transportation sector. One home storage battery per household vs multiple electric vehicles per household. And the EV batteries are much larger and the profit margins from EV sales are huge. But home storage is getting there, albeit a little slowly.

    Buy batteries,while the elites are waiting for better batteries at a better price point. Roll the dice. I did and so did Tesla and now My 21 model Y is in the shop for a dead, main battery replacement under warranty. Huge energy use Data centers by carbon credits and backup generators when they could just as easily choose panels and batteries but they won’t. Hello Susan, The battery draw down problem happens when you hae a power outage. With the grid being down, the excess PV production has no where to go and hence the problem with Tesla and Franklin. Net Metering would not come into the picture since during a power outage there is no export to the grid as the grid is down. Thanks for watching.

Right now the industry ,technology of all products is changing, more offerings and better equipment so next year when the new equipment comes out, why would I buy last year‘s equipment even if it was cheap why ? not me. Most countries with Solar use the larger 450 to 600 W panels and equipment. And it’s coming in the next few years to us . see more change.

      I agree using the latest tech is the best. In solar the tech does not change that fast and last years tech might still be the best this year as well. Re the 450 to 600 watt panels - those are actually commercial grade panels - the are much larger than the residential panels and not suitable for use on our roofs. The most efficient residential panel we have today is the REC 470. I expect we will see some more panels in that range next year. Thank you.

I am not sure if Tesla sells the Powerwall 3 in Mexico - but if they do, they will be able to answer the voltage question with authority. Alternatively, you can call Tesla in the US and try your luck. But be prepared for some time on the phone. Best of Luck. Jon

    I am not going to install battery. Just want to install solar my roof. I have lot third party vendors in my area who install enphase micro inverter + q cell. But enphase doesnt install solar. On the other end Tesla directly install solar system but they use string inveter but they are well known company and would be there to support in future. These vendors not sure whether they will in business for more time or not. Then what will happen in case any support required. Can i directly call enphase. Should i go with tesla as my roof is east and west facing. I have requirment of 22 panels. I can install all of them in East side. But i can only install 10 panel in west side. Should i install panel in east and west both side or just east side is fine ?

      @MySolarHomeUSA 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @GauravJain-qc2ux You can work with either Tesla or a large nationwide solar installer - they are usually reliable. Doing panels on the East only is OK - only if its exactly east west. If you share your address on email I could check that for you. And let me know if you would like a quote for just an Enphase system. Email me at jon@mysolarhome.us Thanks for watching and your comment.

    Gedankenexperiment....in an off grid scenario w/o solar and only a PW3, what happens if your whole home backup draws more than 48 amps? Extrapolation.... say we have a PW3 and go off grid while a Teala model Y is charging at 48 amps. Would energy simply flow from the PW3 to the Model Y through the backed up Tesla wall charger? Or does the PW3 somehow communicate to the charger to quit?

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To your question about the Powerwall 3 charging the CyberTruck (Congratulations !!!). Yes if you are out of home and your Powerwall 3 is on whole home backup mode - and that is the current configuration as far as I know, then it will start charging the Truck and go kaput in a couple of hours. Re Powerwall 3 working with Enphase - Tesla did tell me that they are working on launching an AC couple version towards the end of the year. I would make sure your solar installer actually has an AC coupled Tesla Powerwall 3. BIG CAVEAT - if you do Powerwall 3 with Enphase, you are wasting a lot of money. Thats because the Powerwall 3 has an inverter to take care of the panels and the battery. Now with Enphase the Tesla solar panel inverter will remain idle, unused and you would have paid for it. Either go all the way Enphase or all the way Tesla is my advise. I personally think its not going to be too big a difference in energy output as long as you have a couple of big arrays. Keep me in the loop and send a picture with you and the CyberTruck to jon@mysolarhome.us Thanks

    Hey Jon...Picking up my 9 PW3 tomorrow!!!! (Cybertruck). Still doing all the maths. Will send you info soon. 1. I've seen several sources and one of my quotes say PW3 has 150 LRA. I see 185 LRA as you said. Why the difference? Are there different versions? 2. We talked before about PW3 NOT being capable of AC coupling (micro inverters). And others say the same. But sonething changed recently. My Tesla guy said it is possible now. And that is what PES quoted me....REC + micro + PW3. But why? My guess would be shading or snow covered panels? In Florida with minimal shading, I would think the advantage of micro inverter effiency would be less than the lower cost of DC coupled strings without conversion losses. Probably fewer boxes on my wall as well .... Talk soon.

      Hey Drew, Apologies. I thought I had replied to this earlier. I presume congratulations are due for your new Cyber Truck. Congratulations. In Florida with a single or two array solar panel system the Tesla Powerwall 3 will do as well or better than Enphase Microinverters. With the cost advantage, Powerwall 3 would the route to go for you. Re the AC coupled Powerwall 3, I am not sure if it has been launched. Until I see some actual installs or if your installer has confirmed in writing that you will get an AC coupled version, I would be careful. Best and do email me once you are ready to see some numbers. Jon@mysolarhome.us

    I say this with respect. The comparison should be one Powerwall-3 against 3 IQ5P batteries.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I thought about that and I chose the smaller battery to keep the pricing similar. In terms of capability, the difference between a 10 kw and a 13.5 kwh Tesla would be about similar to the difference between a 13.5 kwh Tesla vs a 15 kwh Enphase. The excess power you get from the 3 batteries is not worth the trouble - as you really cant run those high power devices anyway with either 1 Tesla or 2 or even 3 Enphase 5P's. Thank you very much for watching.

    • @1982757
      @1982757 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MySolarHomeUSA But I thought that the 13.5kwh is the usable capacity, whereas for Enphase 5P, 80% usable capacity will be 4kwh. Hence, there is 8kwh usable capacity for the 10kwh. Therefore, a better comparison should be 3 Enphase (12kwh usable capacity, assuming 80% DOD) and one Tesla Powerwall.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@1982757 The usable capacity of the Tesla Powerwall 3 is 13.5 kwh and the usable capacity of 2 Enphase 5P batteries is 10 kwh. The big boys give the usable capacity upfront. You don't have to do the 80% calculation. Thank you.

      Tesla is now all about getting solar commoditized and to lower prices as much as possible. That is putting downward pressure on other competitors and that is a good thing. The Solar Shingles are a disaster and should be discontinued IMHO. Thanks for watching.

    I always thought "backup mode" capability was linked to the invertor and not the battery, what feature of the battery makes it backup mode capable, is it related to the discharge capacity?

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Backup Mode capability depends on the availability of a Grid Interconnection device that allows the battery and the solar panels to be islanded during a power outage. This prevents the battery from electrocuting an utility worker on a pole outside. In a consumption mode or non backup mode install ,the battery only works during regular grid availability. On grid failure, the battery shuts down since there is no Interconnection device. Such installs are cheaper and thus favored by installers looking for more margins. As long as you installer gives you the option, you decide what works for you. For many folks in CA, the non backup mode is much cheaper and may be preferable. You just dont want to pay backup prices for non backup mode. Thank you for watching.

    I would look elsewhere if a solar company doesn't mandate battery backup with their installs.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fortunately, most solar companies offer the option of solar panels with batteries. In states like California, this is mandatory since net metering is not available. However, in other states where net metering is available, batteries might not be essential. They only provide power during an outage, so areas with relatively rare power failures might not benefit as much from having a battery.

    Thanks. Do any or all of these pannels work the the PW3 built in inverter? I think you said in anither video that Tesla pannels are Q Cell? You already answered one if my ither questions on anither vudeo. PW 3 Sucks? You siad PW3 can take different roof sections as separate strings. At Tesla website when trying to configure/order, why do they say pannels are not compatible with metal roof? I have metal roof. Not really standing seam. More like metal sheets overlapping with screws between them.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Drew, All solar panels are compatible with the Powerwall 3. However when you buy from Tesla - they only have some specific panels and they are mostly from QCell. A metal sheet overlapping roof construction is tricky but do able. It depends on the distance between your rafters and their size. If they are 16-18 inches apart and they are 2 by 8 or larger you are good. Anything further apart would require an architect to have a look. My installer has done metal roofs like yours. Best Jon
