    Net metering is being phased out. It used to be, in California, you would net to zero but this no longer the case. A hybrid system is the best. EG4 has kits that contain whole house battery backup for a fraction of price of the big solar companies. A 20k whole house backup for $5k will do better than a grid tie system

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, net metering is no longer available in CA and it is being phased out in a few more states like Illinois as well. Solar and a battery are the best bet in those locations. Kits from Solar companies are always way cheaper than getting a solar company to install your system. However, you have to be a fairly good electrician to install a high voltage DC system safely. And maintenance will be your responsibility. If you are very handy and able to maintain the system, it is by far the best route. Most homeowners in the US dont have the required skills and they have to depend on solar installers. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    Hi John, Just hoping that the eg4 6000xp last more than the yellow 3000 , the 3000 burn in less than a year :( , i swapped for a ecoworthy 5000w and is been working beautifully but isn't efficient as the one before i think, seems like on the same array is not getting the same amount , anyways getting the 6000 in the next few days for the 2 mppt and few other things, i been working on my own system, have few off grid and including a victron system, i run my mobile home 95% off solar , the other 5% because i didn't install the 240v stuff , only the stove and dryer , been very happy with the independence i got from my systems that i just decided to grow it to charge an EV too , hopefully i will have all enough to do it. I watch your other videos including the ones that you talk about the solar panels and what brands etc, thank you so so much for what you do.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA วันที่ผ่านมา

      Wow congratulations on your various projects. I am gratified you enjoy my videos. You are going the right route and I think the EG4 will be a good addition. With your EV charging project, I suggest you temper your expectations a bit. The EV batteries are usually very high capacity - 70 or 80 kwh and those will require a boat load of solar panels to charge them. Your kind of setup would be great to top up charge the EV. Best of Luck and keep me informed please.

      @MySolarHomeUSA you right i won't be able to charge a hummer or truck , but small EV and depends , I don't have enough space for a level 2 50amp but I'm hopping at least 20amp , the max will take me about 24hours to charge my EV , thank you again! And keep up those good videos!

    I got the G4 18K inverter but am thinking of returning it because the max AC output is only 50 amp. That 600-xp has max output is only 28 amps. Micro inverters convert from DC to AC then if you have a battery they have to convert back to DC then to use that power it has to convert back to AC. Very inefficient. EG4 has a 14.5K heated and weather proof for $3600. So you could get three of these for the cost of on Tesla powerwall.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Larry, If you are able to design and install your own battery inverter combination, then you are golden. You can mix and match like you are thinking and get the best value for your money. Most folks like a plug and play solution. For that you have to go to the bigger nationwide players with a solid network of support. Their products are very good, but expensive. Thanks for watching and appreciate your insights.

    Don't do it! My system, which I leased from Sunnova, was not installed properly! Cost me an additional $9,000 to remove them and get my roof repaired! I am so sorry you had to go through such a bad experience. It looks like the folks who designed and sold your the system did a really bad job. When you buy a properly designed system and you have it a it at a fair price, the Lease is quite a good deal. But, it needs an educated buyer and an honest seller. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    Micro Inverter has many many cons. Namely high maintenance and replacement costs, energy loss for battery system such as DC to Ac conversion, back to DC to charge the battery, and back to AC to power electronics.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You have to look at the overall picture to make the assessment. I have access to performance data of a few thousand solar installations using both Solar Edge and Enphase tech. The failure rate of Enphase is 1/5th of Solar Edge. Regarding the energy loss - the difference is marginal. And since Enphase has much better control on the solar production and battery charging process, the overall impact is more energy production from the solar+battery combination than for a comparable solaredge combo. Overall Enphase is a slightly better choice, but again its like choosing between two high end cars. You can't go wrong with either. Thanks for watching and your comments.

      You need to have a balcony where you could place the portable solar panels. If you have a small balcony, you could work with smaller solar panels too. Without a balcony, it would be a challenge, you need sunlight on those panels. Thanks for watching.

    So the hotter it’s gets the less power output WTF , I am trying to get some solar for a very tropical weather where temps can hit up to 100 Fahrenheit with lots of sun .

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No worries - even though the panels produce less energy when it is hot, with tropical climate this reduction is more than offset by the much longer hours of bright sunlight. So overall having panels in temperatures below 110 produces more energy than in cooler climates but with shorter days. You are good. Stay the course on solar. Thanks for watching.

    Hi Jon, I appreciate the video. For the calculation to determine the amount of panels needed, if you have a 400 W Q cells that only produces 300 W why wouldn’t we divide by 300 instead of 400?

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA หลายเดือนก่อน

      The calculations for the number of panels uses a lot of factors including the panel output, the number of sunhours in the location and also the orientation of the panel. The calculation factors in the lower output of the 400 watt panels and gives you the number of panels required after taking that into consideration. Thanks for watching

    How about combining Enphase system on the roof with a supporting Powerwall 3 as a main battery in the garage? What do you think about this combination? I know, working with two separate systems also apps are not so optimal but at the end result taking advantage from both systems?

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA หลายเดือนก่อน

      Currently that option will not work as the Tesla Powerwall 3 is a hybrid inverter - it works as an inverter for the solar panels and as an inverter for the Battery output. Currently you cannot install it with another Solar Panel + Inverter combination like Enphase or Solar Edge. If you want a Tesla battery with Enphase, you will have to select the Tesla Powerwall 2. There is some talk of an AC coupled version of the Tesla Powerwall 3 being launched - but I have not heard of an expected launch date. The AC coupled Powerwall 3 would work with Enphase microinverters. All the best and thanks for watching.

    Gov Programs? The Lead providers are the guilty ones. If someone is older and thinks 5 or 6 years is all they have, you can save them thousands with the 2.9%. Gift, I agree. Most gave a production guarantee and you cant swap without a change order. I've never heard of less panels? Dealer fees I agree. Nobody uses strings lol. Self consumption batteries are way cheaper but yes that should be addressed. With the Tesla we can install the kill switch, give them 20% of the storage. Now that won't power much, but what if their system was able to generate off grid now? By default all those scams are impossible at my work. I have a rule where I never bad mouth anyone as many say they just think that about you. I love dividing the monthly kwh by 30 for a day average. I take the monthly and compare it with all 12 months for them to be transparent. Great video, but time to swith the displays yo the mono vs the poly. I enjoy explaining to my customers that I expect them to be like Culombo looking for that aha moment. I get enjoyment in honesty and integrity. I would rather lose my arm than lie for a sale. Every homeowner gets an install report with pdfs and pics of serial numbers etc. No need to check lol. I like your videos, but there are some good guys out there.

      @MySolarHomeUSA yes I understand that. My question was, If these batteries system can be recharged by the use of a gasoline or propane generator to be used in case no sunlight is available for a few days? I am from PuertoRico, and when a major hurricane hits, we can be two or more days with very little sunlight.

    Thank you for an excellent PW3 review. I gained a better understanding of TSLA's technology its advantages and concessions. It will be interesting to see how well the TSLA hybrid inverter stands up to 24 hr on-demand performance. I am fussy on the 6 MPPT and thinking of it as having six separate inverters! Can one of the 6 fail and the rest maintain 5/6 functionality or will the inverter fail as a unit? What the failure rates will be, and how well TSLA manages the service and replacement or repair is an unknown. TSLA sells direct to the consumer and contracts out all the work. This is the secret to TSLA's pricing model. The meter collar is simple and impressive innovation. Well done TSLA! It is a safe bet this innovation will be copied by the industry and in time accepted broadly nationwide. How does the PW3 and the meter collar protect the solar array and power electronics from a power surge when the grid comes back on after a grid power interruption scenario? I recall Enphase CEO, Badri mentioned on a recent shareholder earnings call, that Enphase next-gen IQ battery will be smaller with higher charge density, fewer yet more powerful microinverters and have the meter collar option for installation. Oh, and cost less money. We will have to wait for next year to see if Mr. Badri can compete. I think the TSLA PW3 inverter less battery expansion(dumb battery) is a brilliant natural product and service offering.. The DC arc on the roof remains a fire risk does it not? TSLA Solar seems to look past the DC arc fire history. Do you have any data on how the insurance industry prices coverage for DC vs AC on the roof? Ah, maybe I should be writing to your email address ... I seem to be ranting I concur with the others on the back ground music and the bridge collapse. Please keep up the good work. I truly appreciate the education.

      @s.lionelmcauley4455 Thank you very much for that detailed and constructive feedback comment. Reading this gives me oxygen. Thank you again. Re the 6 MPPT and the failure question, my guess is they probably run on isolated circuits and should not all fail at the same time. Unless Tesla has cut costs in design. The meter collar will be slowly adopted - there is adoption from the battery manufacturers and more importantly the utility companies must also approve it. So that will take a while. DC Arc fires are rare and today's installation companies are professional. The subcontractor vs company installer argument is now becoming moot. Most installers have years of experience under their belt and do a very good job. Thanks again and all the best for your solar journey.

    I wouldn't trust Sunrun, based on my experience. They installed a defective roof on my house. I spent two years trying to get them to repair it. They forced me under duress of an open water leak during heavy rains to find my own contractor, because Sunrun claimed they couldn't locate their original contractor who did the work. They also claimed they couldn't find anybody to repair my roof. Can you believe it? So I was forced to use my own contractor and forced to sign a document that Sunrun isn't responsible. Of course the damage to my roof when Sunrun installed it was so extensive that new leaks kept appearing and much of the damage was hard to figure out since the repair people weren't who installed it. So when further repairs were needed Sunrun claimed they weren't responsible and refused to repair the roof any further. Furthermore their last email was unfriendly and seemed hostile, and they made false claims regarding the matter, I believe so they could save the email later as false evidence if they got sued. One false claim they made was that there were no active leaks in the roof, so "therefore they aren't responsible". There are at least two active leaks I'm aware of. The workers who installed the roof didn't speak any English. I couldn't talk to them. I feel pretty sure they were undocumented workers. Are there any Americans who don't speak English? I think that answers the question. One thing to be aware of. Everybody at Sunrun was nice and polite and tried to sound accommodating. But when it came down to responsibility for paying for the roof repair, I felt that they had ulterior motives and their conversations were ultimately strange and not quite right. I felt any friendliness in the end was pretending. Here's what should have happened: I report to Sunrun that their roof is leaking and they simply take care of the entire matter without bothering me and simply arrange a schedule when I can be home to allow the workers in. Instead I have a roof that had been damaged for two years that now needs over $7000 in repairs. No matter how you slice it, Sunrun bent over backwards to not help me, and then they treated me as if I was some rogue criminal off the streets. The last correspondence they sent to me was condescending and accusing. But the reality is they installed a damaged roof and it’s still damaged and they won’t fix it. As if I’m a bad person. That’s how they treated me when it came down to the responsibility of paying. I was completely shocked and horrified. I truly thought they were a legitimate company in the beginning, but now I feel They are extremely risky and can’t be trusted if anything goes wrong. I’m certain they will offer a lot of heartfelt platitudes for a while money enters the picture, and then you’ll know who your friends aren’t!

They refuse to repair the roof found another contractor that will do it for nearly $23,000. In this bed doesn't even include all the water damage in my walls and ceiling

    Plenty of guessing and speculation, little solid fact. . Do you realise you essentially said that since China controls the Lithium, they will control the supply of Lithium in (High Lithium) Solid State cells? (IF they arrive, and IF they're economically viable) . As for that supply of Lithium.... (Compounds) Australia supplies double the amount of Chile at #2 and almost 3 times the amount of China at #3. . Did you mean CELL production? Or did you mean ACCESS to the material? China is obviously "close" geographically to Australia and has a strong "Belt & Road initiative" link with Chile (Major Sea Port AND Railways under construction) plus now Argentina (at #4!) is joining that initiative with the opportunity to export to China through the same Chilean system. We could even add Bolivia to that list. . It's almost as though China had (has) a multi-decade PLAN to first develop, then use the technology? . Cell/ pack prices are currently way down, in part due to the "Pull-back" by well known major vehicle manufacturers.... Prices may rebound slightly IF those manufacturers return, but they have a problem. IF they try, they would have to negotiate with the country they pulled away from.... that both controls the materials, plus manufactures at least 70% of the cells globally.... . There's a strong possibility that country, rather than negotiating against "Tariffs" would be dealing with their new partners (Formally 3rd world, but rising!) in the colletive mentioned above, who will have Chinese manufacturers building cell factories, vehicle factories and raw material refineries nearby? . They may be "short on capacity" to supply those with openly hostile Governments? . As for Sodium ion cells/ packs, I have little doubt that they will leverage their industry to dominate that segment as well, after all, the storage market is both truly global and HUGE compared to EVs. . I have no doubt they'll use the Solar panels not sold due to those same "Tariffs" to power the factories building the cells?

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your knowledgeable analysis. Indeed China is executing on a multi decade plan of domination in production and supply chain consolidation. And they have bets in every sector of not only battery production, but alternative energy sources as well. A formidable competitor.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, that is true. However, one thing I have learnt in the last 16 years in solar is that products come and go with great regularity. But the solar panels will last a really long time and it pays to work with inverters that also have staying power. Right now Enphase and Solar Edge have 95% of the market. No on else has broken their hegemony in residential solar. It might happen in the next few years, but for now I stick with these two. Thank you very much for watching and commenting.
