The eclectic-but-wonderful video clips from old VHS tapes in my collection. Heavy on the k.d. lang, MC Hall and only-shown-in-Seattle sort of thing.

Seattle Immersive Theatre - set for 2017's American Buffalo
มุมมอง 2187 ปีที่แล้ว
The amazing set for Seattle Immersive Theatre's recent production of "American Buffalo". I believe this building from another time is scheduled to be torn down in early '18, so the theater company was able to turn it into a junk show, the setting for Mamet's classic play. The actor (Eric Ray Anderson) who played "Don" came out and saw some old friends!

Wow. 40 years ago I sat with my dad at the top of the (unfinished) stadium to watch the show. Glow sticks were a brand new "thing" and took about an hour of vigorous shaking to get working. Sad we didn't capture the cool moment all those dancers flipped their skirts to turn different colors. I remember feeling great pity over the hours and hours they had to just stand there.
Itty bitty Ed extra

Ed's Redeeming Qualities does NOT appear in this scene but it's still a charmer for Ed-heads because in it, Lee describes her band (with dialogue that's actually a quote from one of ERQ's first album reviews) and references one of ERQ's most beloved songs, "Lawn Darts"

Ed's Redeeming Qualities in the film "Ed's Next Move" 1996

If you're a Super-duper Ed-head, here's an extra scene: tinyurl.com/akep7jw Ed's Next Move was a micro-budgeted little romantic comedy that both Siskel and Ebert found charming, giving it two thumbs up. My favorite indie band of the 90s appeared in it and here are all of their scenes and songs, plus the Siskel & Ebert review!
A Green & White Christmas - MOHAI radio play with Chris Wedes and Bob Newman (2000)
มุมมอง 42311 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the first production of A Green & White Christmas, by Feliks Banel of Seattle's Museum of History and Industry. It was recorded in front of an audience and aired on local Seattle radio on December 16, 2000. There has been at least one other production of it since but this was the first. The story is set on Christmas Eve 1953 at Seattle's dear, departed department store, Frederick & Nels...

This radio production, written and directed by Feliks Banel of Seattle's Museum of History and Industry was recorded in front of an audience and aired on local Seattle radio in 2001. It's set during World War II when local residents must convince two old time vaudevillians, played by Chris "J.P. Patches" Wedes and Bob "Gertrude" Newman to come out of retirement to perform at a war relief fundra...

The tremendous pairing of two of the world's greatest clowns. They had a big hit with this in '93 on Broadway and toured it all over. What a team!
Bill Irwin opens the Tony Awards 1987

His whole appearance was an in-joke for the audience; he'd just had a big success for The Regard of Flight so THEY (the hip NYC audience) knew who he was but also knew that Middle America wouldn't have a clue. I adore Bill Irwin. For several years he had a contract with the Seattle Rep to develop a new play per year and I got to see a lot of his brand new works in a black box setting.

This is from a mid-80s PBS show, hosted by Laurie Anderson. In the show, Jim Henson and Frank Oz both do voices for Bert & Ernie. Many other cool folks pop up in the show including a young William H. Macy and dance due DanceNoise.

These two so wowed Carson & Co that they were asked back just weeks after their debut. This time they got to perform two numbers, "Here I Am" and "She's Hot To Go". Francine wore a pretty dress that showed off her nice arms.

check out k.d. singing this song in 1988 in Nashville - check out the reaction of the audience, first time seeing k.d. !! awesome, one of my all-time favorites
Elevated hair is everything
Not the first time I've seen her drag up. I saw her at a small club in Vancouver (Club Soda). She came out in a wedding dress and cowboy boots. Fantastic.
She sounds good with her Band!
2025 they amazing
I discovered Ed's Redeeming Qualities 2 days ago from a random Internet comment that mentioned the song "Bob". I have been all over this ever since. My current favorites are "Lawn Dart" and "More Bad Times". I'm hoping to cover some of these in the near future. I love this music.
Hester made this . RIP PH .❤️☮️🇦🇺
Something about her voice always moves me. I love her music
2025 and she is the best
Diva was feeling silly here!
this diva
Earliest performance I have seen, I discovered k.d. lang when Torch and Twang album came out.
You dance and sing with such energy and hold those notes amazing you hold my heart..oooxxx ❤
That was a special night….a very, very long time ago ❤️
You know, as a gay guy, Rico really does sort of have a point. I don't care what you like sticking your dick in, going to a funeral in drag is in horrendous taste - and largely the reason a lot of people (myself included) don't like a lot of gay people these days. You don't need to be hyper-sexual all the time. It's distasteful whether it's a gay guy wearing drag or a straight guy wearing nipple clamps with a girl on a leash. What you do behind closed doors is cool but for Christ's sake, there's a time and a place, you know? And before anyone starts - I know a lot of the 'new crowd' will take issue with this (because you've all been brainwashed into thinking that what makes you cum is your identity and that what makes you cum should be celebrated); but the fact is that you don't need to wear your sexual proclivities on your face as though they're the thing that first and foremost defines you - and if they are, then you're a very hollow person.
Best vocalist EVER🤍
omg we were so young back then
From Canadian country twang, to this blues then pop. She never ceased to amaze people with her voice.🇨🇦♥️
For a second I thought I was watching the wrong version of Dexter 😂😂😂
Disagree a lot with Siskel on this, but he does touch on an important subject, those pauses in modern TV and movies that anticipate an emotional reaction. You're not watching a story. You're watching a series of emotional triggers.
Great band
Eddie Rayner on keyboard!! 🎉
Neil Finn so goddamn handsome!!!!
I don't expect everyone to agree but in my opinion this was actually THE best musical talent segment in all the years of the beloved Johnny Carson Late Night Show. Hands down. The best.
The greatest female voice...and there's a lot of them out there through the years, but k.d. lang is the best.
No lip syncing here. K D doesn’t need to fake it.
This woman has always made my ovaries hurt lol ❤
It's as if every great voice that ever existed is pouring out from her. ... I hear them all in her incredibly inclusive voice.... She is music....
Before she went for that manly appearance.
KD and Aretha perfect singers not just the quality soul technique and more buts its the putting everthing in the performance with all your effort that makes them even better
"I think David is gay! 😱" "I think David lucky, I mean, did you get a look at that guy??? 😜🔥💦" Hahahahaha love it! 😂 Also, love the edits OP made on these clips, I'm sensing OP has a crush on Michael C. Hall (like all of us do 😍)
Crazy beautiful eyes. Wow.
2:30 it's over. He knows
She sang this at the closing ceremony for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary!
One of the Best New Zealand bands EVER,. Frig l hate it when Yanks call us Aussies. Thats like calling a Canadian a Yank. Teeth clenching.
I still have a thing for her t
I had a big crush on her for years and years
I was a big fan of the whole crowd from the Smothers’ writing room - Steve Martin, Mason Williams, later Martin Mull, and of course, Jim Stafford. I actually grew up with a cousin of his. I remember this show and k.d. lang’s debut here and on the NSB show as well. No idea then that I would grow up to become alphabetical myself, and as big or a bigger fan of kd than of all of those favorite funny guys of mine. Imho, one of the greatest singing talents of our generation.
Johnny Carson welcomed a lot of varied musicians on the Tonight Show but I don’t think even he was prepared for THAT VOICE !!!!!
🎉 This is a hit for sure! Life is better with KD.
On Fire! WOW,!
Wild. What a voice.
Miss K.D.
Stunning voice and beautiful visage
What a treasure, she can “ sang “ .
A dress? I'm impressed!
