This video is about the birds and mammals we encountered during our 10-day trip to Leh region. During these 10 days, we covered Leh, Wari La, Agyam, Sakti, Zingral, Chang La, Pangong, Chushul, Tsaga La, Hanle, Puga, Tsokar, Taglang La and Lato village. Leh region was a treat to eyes with its outstanding natural beauty. The mountains were filled with myriad colours and the different terrains added to its beauty. The people here are very welcoming, warm and friendly and their hospitality is something I'll cherish for times to come.
We saw a total of 106 bird and 15 mammal species. I showcased around 48 birds and all of the mammals in this video. These birds and mammals have adapted to high altitudes and reduced oxygen levels and most of these species are restricted to the trans-himalayans region, Tibetan Plateau, and pockets of Sikkim, Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh.
This trip yielded us 40 bird lifers, and 38 of these birds are showcased here. The two birds missing are Pallas's Gull and Sulphur-bellied Warbler.
We are thankful to Padma Gyalpo ( gyalpo.padma) for his patience and skill at spotting birds and mammals and making sure we had a good view of the birds and mammals. Also, I would like to highlight the problem of stray dogs in Ladakh area in general. They are a big threat to the local wildlife, and if immediate steps are not taken, this could lead to a widespread destruction of bird/mammal species that have adapted to this high altitude environments.
