Terrarium DIY India update video I Miniature garden in glass bowl I closed terrarium diy I Ask Iosis
Hi,
This is an update video of a closed terrarium which we made 10 months back. Because of some music issues we had to take down the original diy video, hence we have added the same at the end of this Terrarium update video.
In this video you can see a terrarium which is suitable to Indian climate created in a fishbowl as a closed terrarium ecosystem. In a span of these 10 months we have seen earthworms, springtails, snails and other tiny unidentified insects living in this closed ecosystem.
This is a "0" maintenance gift that you can give your loved ones.
Following are the important points to remember to create this miniature garden in glass bowl.
1) Rainy season is the best season top create this in India.
2) Collect moss and plants from the local park, compound wall or pavement area as they will not need a lot of time to adjust.
3) The gravel false floor is a must as it acts as a reservoir and avoid decay of plant material.
3)The earthworm is also a very important factor. Don't worry about the oxygen requirement of earthworms as the micro climate formed in this enclosed jar will ensure the worm gets oxygen from the plants and the CO2 and O2 equilibrium will be achieved in a few days.
4) Enclose the jar at the day time or in artificial light as the plants will be emitting oxygen and will help achieve the biological cycle faster.
5) Keep the terrarium facing the same side to the window in the interior of the house so that the plants get a fixed source of light for a fixed time in a day. This will also help it set and adapt faster.
6) Activated charcoal layer helps remove impurities from water while it percolates to the reservoir thus avoids foul smell.
7) In the initial week you might observe mold formation which normal and eventually it will subside.
8) As this is a closed type of terrarium, close it with a good non porous transparent lid and don't open it occasionally as it will disturb the set cycle.
9) If you see no condensation on the walls in the next few days, it means you need to sprinkle more water inside.
10) Condensation will be seen twice a day on the light source side. If you see condensation throughout the day then open the lid and wipe off excess.
11) Eventually it's a trial and error thing, this was my sixth attempt at a terrarium and i have observed the above written things which might help you in the process. Happy creating !!!

Ms. Niharika, if one has an already made sink and has an extra provision for a water outlet (for tap) can we fix this? Does one have to make changes or drill through again for installing this. Please make a video on that.
If u have SS sink then u whould have to drill a hole in the sink.. other wise u can drill a hole on your counter top

Hi I am a Decal designer sorry to draw ur kind attention the installation is not proper the overlapping does not matches for roads and gardens...total dispute on 2nd palla. But I understand as the installation is also budgeted with the decal pricing RS 135/- per sq.ft the workmanship is not done by experts and thus it lack the perfection. I am located in Kolkata and working for all high end interior designers (ABID MEMBERS) but I can customize anything u want and that also with perfect installation flawless....u can visit and check few of my work in my profile though I don't share much work now as its get copied. Decal has many varieties and its also self-adhesive .it doesn't required any extra adhesive. Readymade design is same as getting catalogue for wallpapers. So decal costing includes decal/NTP cost + installation+ customize design cost. Please check vdo at 3:05 min...totally mis match joint/overlapping.....
