As an 8 year old, Christmas 1969, I received an orange Raleigh Chopper, however it was a mix of MK1 & MK2, It had a MK2 frame, MK2 rear 'roll bar' square not round & a MK1 gear shift stick, also it had the narrower MK2 handle bars, it was brand new so looking on various web sites I have never seen another one, can anyone on enlighten me on this mix? When I reached 13 years old, having a paper round, the newspaper bag fitted across the handle bars which saved my shoulders from pain especially on a Thursday when the local rag carried the job vacancies...

Has NO-ONE pointed out the diabolical depreciation of an Ipace and ALL EVs to you or the new target audience and that its/their initial price is/was FAR beyond the wallets of the genetration you think Jaguar are aiming for ! So who thought up this nonsense, that young people have a hundred grand to spend on ANY car ? That anyone does apart from a tiny minority ?

I think what everyone is missing is the fact that campaigns do not happen in a vacuum. They are tested ahead of time to make sure they achieve that goal. They consider the message the corporation funding them wants to convey (as convinced by the marketing department and ad agency). The resulting Jaguar campaign conveys the idea that what's coming will not be what anyone is expecting, just as the ad, itself did by being disruptive. They want eyes on the unveiling. Now, they will get eyes. Do you all believe the new car will only come in pink? As noted in the video, Jaguar needs many more sale to even remain in business. If everyone loved the existing fleet so much, this wouldn't be happening. The loss of the mascot and logo, if real, is regrettable but the courted buyers going forward simply don't care at all about that. Automotive history means little to them, they want personal satisfaction.

Let's see what the car looks like when they unveil it.....

I think my F Pace SVR is fantastic. A proper Jaguar. Sadly, only around 1700 sold in the entire UK since it was launched in 2019. I shall NOT be buying an electric car unless government coercion becomes as intolerable as the travel jab mandates, ie no EV = you can't drive.

A well intended presentation, but it ignores the fact that buyers are no longer interested in electric cars. Firstly, the residual values rapidly become zero rather quickly, when a battery change approaches, to say nothing of the increasing impossibility of getting access to chargers. It is well known that few potential buyers have the luxury of a garage, or even a driveway on which they can charge at home. Indeed, many car owners in our major cities are fortunate if they can park their cars in the street where they live. The recent woke advertising will only appeal to a minority of potential buyers and has unquestionably angered the vast majority of the buying public, which will be near impossible to live down. It may be argued that we will all have to "go electric" by 2035 but we all know that government will have to do a U turn in that stupidity. By that time, there will be enormous advances in fuel types "such as hydrogen" and if I was a betting man, my money is that we will revert to some form of the internal combustion engine, with a clean and planetary acceptable fuel. LGBTQ philosophy tries hard to destroy our culture but it never will of course and it should be rooted out of the Jaguar boardroom as a matter of some urgency, to give the new product a glimmer of success.

I actually like the new logo, typography quirks and all. But as far as the rest of the "strategy", not so much.

As a designer and engineer, I'd hate to be given the job of following up on that Jag ad with something "successful". In fact I'd be terrified. But I am curious what Jaguar's designers are going to present us with. It's a bit like being a spectator at the Colosseum wondering how a bunch of Christians are going to fair against a pride of hungry lions.

If the company who now owns the Jaguar brand is no longer inhabited by people who have any affection or esteem for what that brand once stood for and now see it's brand image as an impediment to future, market penetration.......then they ought to have just "retired" the brand and at least protected and honoured it as a once successful "legacy" brand which has (alas) lost its appeal within modern society due to shifting values and perceptions. Having done right by the "brand" in the eyes of enthusiasts and legacy owners.....they could have then used the publicity generated from this gesture to launch absolutely ANYTHING they wanted to, under a new brand......and could still have enjoyed all of the "enthusiast" gossip affirming that this NEW brand is coming from the people at "Jaguar." This, far more subdued and understated provenance would STILL have created market traction for the new brand, and it would have helped to nullify all of the current outrage we're witnessing. One of the biggest problems that legacy enthusiasts (of anything) have with "woke" re-branding is that it never seems to have the balls or confidence to trade on IT'S OWN provenance. "Woke" always has to try and hitch a ride on the coat-tails of established branding whose success was forged by a demographic that woke people now openly despise. And this demographic KNOW this.....which is why the new Jaguar ad is receiving so much backlash IMHO.

I'm much younger than you are. If I wanted to buy a Jaaaag, than I would want it to look like a Jaguar inside and out. So I'd like to see the future Jag to pick up the design language of the x308.

They are trying to be a new Rolls or Bentley, will fail. Just based on prices they will charge.

Absolutely no way this will be a success, unless they come up with the real thing soon. But I'm afraid this was the real thing... Jaguar's dead.

Older buyers are being replaced by other older buyers . You are talking as though that group no longer exist . Your friends at Jaguar are too afraid of saying anything negative for fear of the consequences . You are only kidding yourself . For what reason we can only imagine .
