For the sear options, put some on the broiler plate. They get the same sear as the bottom grates do. I use it all the time for burgers. I can sear 6-8 burgs, 12 dogs or 3 steaks at a time that way

Good video. Looking at a Pitboss now, this was helpful. Never having used one, wondering how well it grills, and how heavy the smoke is. I love a thick smoke but my wife not so much. We did a fair amount of camping and she did like campfire cooked burgers and steaks so wondering how close it is to that for grilling.

Thanks for the review, looks like its a good value, but I'm leaning for their next step up model now . Looks like they did start adding a handle for the broiler on this 700 model, but the 850 competition includes a vent and wifi / blutooth option for a bit more than 100 higher, seems like a good deal.

We make it more or less the way you do using the smoke setting on my Z-grill which is 160°F. We pull it off around 140-ish F and let it rest up to doneness. Maple bourbon glaze that we make ourselves. Pretty easy and yummy. I have the blankie for my smoker here in Maine and you might find such a thing useful up to our north if they make one for your smoker. It makes things more efficient in winter time.

The handle is too high over the lid. You risk burning your forearm reaching over to close it. The sear plate i am able to open and close with a long curved spatula. No need to remove the grate. I like your idea of removing the hopper screws for the grate. Thanks for the review.

I love my 700, it's crushing smoking so far. But I'm having hell trying to find options for a flat top griddle insert/accessory. I find plenty in search, go to the page, but it won't confirm that it fits the 700. Even PitBoss main site, doesn't confirm, that I've found. Anyone have a griddle accessory for the 700 they can share model or link to?

I've learned my lesson with these pellet smokers all I know is you can have them. Way too much maintenance and upkeep with about half the flavor of a wood or charcoal smoker. I get it for beginners and people who don't really want to learn the total skill of all around smoking for food preservation and cooking but it seems to constantly be something with the one I received as a gift so I ended up regifting hahaha

Not everyone uses it to smoke with. I use mine mostly for grilling and it's awesome. I also have a Weber, a offset,a barrel, and a gas grill. They each have their place. When you want to cook something at a precise temperature, it's hard to beat a pellet grill. You're not going to get that flavor in your kitchen stove.

Great videos. I just bought a 700T1. It's a lot like yours except it has the smoke stack and lever for the broiler. I 100% agree with your cons. I took the top shelf out on my first cook of drumsticks because it was just in the way. Also ran out of pellets on my first cook because they didn't move down and left a void above the auger. Do I like it? We shall see.

I've had mine since the summer of 2020 and I'll never go back to a regular grill. Your pros and cons are very similar to mine but nothing to really cry about. I usually take the upper rack right out, that allows me to reach to the back of the smoker when I'm doing large batches of food. You might want to try store bought chunks of pea-meal bacon. Carefully rinse some of the brine off as it can get quite salty as is it cooks. The result compares to deli style smoked pork loin at maybe a quarter of the price. Thanksgiving turkey worked out well too. It's almost impossible to dry out turkey when you're going low and slow.

I find a small inconsistency as well. I just assume heat rises so the door would be a little higher than the digital probe
