Short video of a nice ride out on the Sportster in France, about 35 miles north of Le Mans, finishing off at a Burger King as it was Sunday and most places were shut ,but I will say that the French cook a better BK . While waiting for the ferry this was parked next to us ,so I asked the chap if I could do a quick video . its a Renault Alpine , he pronounced it "Alpeenaa" its only a 1.8 mid engine car very low seat height , the wife has an MX5 and that can be a bit difficult to climb down into and struggle to pull yourself up . I bet this is a fun car on the twisty roads. #alpine #a110 #RenaultAlpine

So some time in the future I want to get back into camping and needed a tent that would be light enough to carry on the Harley and be big enough not to feel claustrophobic. Great bikes, I'm looking out for one myself, the NT700 or maybe the CBF600 with the Honda panniers looks great too. Honda bikes today mostly look shit compared to these bikes, why Honda ? why do they all have to look like sport bikes and have horrible looking TFT displays ? All the NT1100 is is a sports bike with panniers, crap useless mudguards the same on most Honda and most other manufacturers bikes. The only Honda bike that looks good in my opinion these days is the Cub 125 or better again the Cub 110 that you can't buy in Europe ( Typical) Why don't Honda have a 700 CC bike like this NT700 ? or is that supposed to be the NC700x ? I wish Honda designers would wake out of their big hibernation and design bikes that actually look good and not all look the same, take the Triumph T100 or the Kawasaki W800, beautiful bikes with proper analogue gorgeous looking dials, I don't need all these fancy riding modes and crap on screens to distract me. Honda just makes boring as possible bikes and know people will buy them because they're Honda, this is incredibly lazy ! Here's a tip when uploading videos to youtube, their 1080p quality is really bad the last year or 2 but their 4 K is much better due to allowing higher bitrates so even if someone doesn't have a 4 K screen they can still benefit from the higher bit rates once they switch to 4k, parts of your video on a 28 inch monitor look shit but this is down to youtube being cheap asses when it comes to bandwidth, I'm a premium user too and find this unacceptable, sorry for the rant mate. Just a little tip if you can upload in 4k .

    • @Baggyarse
      @Baggyarse 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi ..totally agree with you about the designers of bikes today tooo much plastic , if you drop a big modern bike you need a second mortgage to get it fixed ,that's why i like the Triumph T90 ,if l drop it or scratch it I am not going to be too upset because its a cheapish fix but these plastic bikes now cost a fortune to service and repair. The NT700 is a great bike it ticks a lot of the right important boxes . Remember the art of salesmanship is convincing the public they need the gimmicks on the bike even though we don't. The 1080p quality has been a pain in the last year or so, I do upload it at 2k but film it in 4k but I have noticed that early on the higher bitrates don't switch from 1080p in fact I checked a video and it was being shown at 720p yet I uploaded it in 4k. you have to got to change the youtube screen settings and change it to 4k.

      @@Baggyarse That sounds absolutely terrible! I had a Triumph T21, which has the same engine, about 50 years ago . . . . it was quite gutless but it did run very smoothly. My recollection of the choke is that you turn the lever clockwise, to put tension on the cable, to lift the choke out of the carburettor just like the throttle cable lifts the throttle slide out of the carburettor. In that case, it looks like William's comment is spot on because the choke lever looks about as far anti-clockwise as it will go. Another pointer is the fact that the engine did not run too badly at the start of the video, when the engine may have been cold and needed some choke, but ran progressively worse through the video, presumably as it warmed up. My recollection of my Triumph T21 and Norton 850 Commando is that they both needed a good tickle to start when cold but I never needed or used the choke . . . . something that should have been deleted because it was just another thing to clutter up the handlebars and go wrong.

    • @Baggyarse
      @Baggyarse 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well this is the thing , when I bought it ,the engine sounded fine as it did ticking over and revved up ok and I took it home on the back of my trailer. I did add fresh fuel and new spark plugs, but that short ride coked them up very quickly. I checked the choke mechanism at the handle bar and that does appear to be normally mounted on the left side of the handle bar on other Triumph's, but in my case its on the right, so to pull the cable and activate the choke mechanism you pull the lever in a clockwise motion, that being going from 3 o'clock to 6 o'clock ,which tightens the cable which makes perfect sense as any other carb be it Chinese or Japanese activates in the same vane. I appreciate all criticisms and advice as l am on a learning curve with these bikes.

    I just picked up a 2010 deauville NT 700 in November 2023 from the original owner with 7400 miles on it here in the USA/Pennsylvania. I had never seen one of these machines on the road in person before. I’ve seen one for sale at a dealership about 10 years ago used. I took it for a test ride. And when I went back to negotiate a week later, it had already been sold… my machine had been sitting with gasoline stabilizer in the gas tank at the original on, or put in there, and let the bike sit for several years. When I got the bike, he had just had it serviced to bring it back to life, new Michelin‘s, new battery, fresh oil, and that’s about it. Adding gasoline to the gas tank after all that time loosened all of that mass of whatever chemical reaction to stabilizer had with the gasoline that formed a mass of white look like sand at the bottom of the gas tank. I have videos of it on my TH-cam channel and progress. I made diagnosing the problem which stranded me out on the highway for the first time in decades… here in March 2024, I have the bike all sorted finally. I actually bought this machine because of the favorable reviews I see from the UK riders. These machines are not very common here in the United States. Like I said, I have never seen one on the highway or on bike night gatherings. I find it very much like my Honda pacific Coast which I commuter dawn for 24 completely trouble free years.. I thought the Pacific coast was the best overall useful motorcycle in the entire history of the universe, I think that these machines, the NT 650 and 700 just might be as good if not a little better then my near perfect Honda pacific coast that never had a mechanical failure,, 24 years of commuting, rain or shine, unless it was really pouring, mostly six days a week, eight months, a year, I’m the only bloke in my department at work that never turned on a half day Saturday, overtime.. it was a 26 mile round-trip commute on mostly back roads. My commutes were my best part of every day, even if it was snowing… I have several videos on my progress and troubleshooting and maintenance so far on my NT 700 which I only have less than 400 miles on since I bought it. I enjoy seeing videos from people that have actually owned these machines and used them for years. I’ve actually been influenced to buy this one by the UK riders favorable reviews.. I was a motorcycle mechanic at three different dealerships when I was in my 20s weird and I’ve always done my own maintenance and repairs on my road. Racing machines, my dirt bikes, my trials, bikes, I’m on my 108th motorcycle right now, counting every single motorcycle, I ever owned from the two stroke days. up until right now here in 2024.. I enjoy your video. That is exactly the type of video. I enjoy watching, and that’s the kind I make, no music, no graphics, I try not to make it look like a cartoon editing in silly things. Just like your videos, just the facts. Thank you. You have a new subscriber.

      Thanks Jodyrides , Yes these bikes are truly amazing and despite the ages and mileages put a lot of newer bikes to shame , I like touring and have tried bigger bikes like the Honda ST1100 and found them great on the highways but hard work in towns. The Deauville to me is a true Adventure bike because you can still do a lot of home mechanics yourself that you cannot do today . Bikes standing for a long time are always going to throw problems at you and fuel tanks are my biggest pain in the arse . I have a couple of Honda VT125's (One is mine and the other is the wife's ) that because both tanks were so rusted, I chose to buy a brand new one and search far and wide for a better one . I also have just bought a 1965 Triumph T90 and the tank is ok at the moment but its going to need some work eventually. But these Deauville's are simply simple , you can ride to the shops fill the panniers up and poke a baguette in for good measure and then the next day ride 400 miles and get off the bike without moaning about back ache and a numb arse unlike my Harley Sportster which kills me after 20 mins down the road . You can service them with basic tools and there are a lot of TH-cam how to videos to show you. You can fit 70/30 tires on these bikes and take it off road ,There's a Spanish chap who does just that and superb videos too. Its light enough to maneuver in tight spaces but heavy enough to feel well planted on twisty country lanes. I do sometimes add music to my videos but not all . I actually make these videos for myself to look back on and so my kids can see a little bit of Dad.... I am a bit camera shy, hence a lot of my vids are of my hands rather than my ugly mug. Thankyou for subscribing , I am looking into doing a few more vids now the weather is getting better. I hate anything under 11' centigrade . Take care.

    I’ve just got one…..on testing with solar setup, I noticed that the panels discharge the unit when it’s dark….do you disconnect yours after charging? Or do you put another controller in between the panels and the Aferiy? Also I noticed the standby power is quite high….lost 3% in 2.5 hours.

    • @Baggyarse
      @Baggyarse ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a controller that detects when its fully charged and shuts off the solar power , my standby power does not lose that much you may have a problem but to be sure I will check it again.

    • @Baggyarse
      @Baggyarse ปีที่แล้ว

      Checked mine for standby power and mine reads 99% after 16 hours so I think you have a tiny little drain somewhere.
