Welcome to Dropped Signal, come and enjoy videos, livestreams, and posts of a wide range of railroad content. You can find historic steam, diesels and more on this channel. I also show a wide range of modern railroad equipment on the class 1 railroads of the US. Most of my videos are filmed on the east coast, and mostly in Ohio; however I plan to expand and travel more if I can. I don't just do real life trains, I also live stream on train simulators and in general I will showcase a multitude of railroad related video games. Chasing CSX P001-01 | The "CSX Office Car Special" April 3rd, 2024 (1080p)
Hello and welcome back to Dropped Signal!
Join @GTRailFanProductions , @CHQRails , @Viloco_Valve_Productions and I when we chased the CSX Office Car Special from Lake City, PA to Sidney, OH on April 3rd, 2024.
On Wednesday April 3rd, 2024 the CSX Office Car Special departed Buffalo, NY heading to Cincinnati, OH. My friends and I would chase the train over 300 miles of paved road. We would go through many famous railroad towns. From Lake City, PA we would head to Wellington, OH where the Wheeling and Lake Erie would cross over the CSX Greenwich Subdivision. Moving on we would arrive in Fostoria, OH after catching the NS 8100 (Nickle Plate Heritage Unit) and the NS 6963 (GoRail SD60E) both leading separate trains.
After the OCS cleared Fostoria, we headed towards the south end of the Deshler siding on the CSX Toledo Subdivision to capture CSX P001-01 flying south after turning off the CSX Willard Subdivision just north of us inside town. We would end our chase just north Sidney, OH at a shot called Swanders by the locals, but the railroad calls is SW Cabin. It sure was a fun and exciting day!

If you watched the video you would see how we are blowing train horns through the mountains at the curve. The horn being blown is from Union Pacific.

Are you going to film the 2102 this year?
At the moment I don't have anything completely planned for 2102. With the possibility of me grabbing a job in a Railroad, and having 2816 to film, I don't want to promise anything. I do want to film out on the Reading this year though.

Was the bells mounted all bells forward? If it is, I would recommend placing the 1L bell in reverse so that it can be like the ones from the SD70ACe to get a K5LLAR1L.

The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore, not like they did back in 1954, only for the cameras in those cellphones
The sid that was filmed was the fireman side of the locomotive. The engineer side of the cab is on the right side of the locomotive.
What is wrong with 7708's K5HL
Certain K5HLs sound like that. It’s probably how they are tuned. Nothing is wrong with it. The only reason I know that is because I live next to CSX trackage and they have those horns all the time that sound exactly like 7708. It could possibly be a 3rd gen or a 2nd gen horn
No it's 2nd gen. 3rd gen sounds much different then 7708
That sounds like a 2 stage solenoid
this horn has sadly been replaced last week, you are extremely lucky to have caught it in its final days, goodbye to the only RS3K on CSX
This is probably the last footage of it's RS3K, as it's been replaced with a K5HL.
It’s so unfortunate
Apparently it went bad, but here's what I don't get. This RS3K goes bad, and CSX replaces it so soon after that I can't yet find any videos of it starting to go bad, but 509's K5HL goes bad and has only one or two bells working for over a year without its horn getting replaced.
Priorities man.
