I am based in East Asia and have spent nearly 15 years in the region. The majority of my time was spent in China but I'm very familiar with the entire region. Traveling has brought me some of my most memorable and unique experiences and I want to share some of them with you. So hop on board and join me on this fascinating journey through the FAR EAST!
Life in China during the Time of Jesus || A Snapshot into the Past
Be sure and check out Excel Mandarin if you are interested in learning Chinese from native speakers in a fun and relaxed way! Be sure to tell them that MR CHOPSTICKS sent you (this part is very important)...
www.excelmandarin.com/
Being that it's the holiday season in much of the world, and more specifically, that it's Christmastime in the Western world, I wanted to look back into history to see what was going on in the Far East during that short but pivotal period of time (ca 4 BC - 33 AD). In this video we will look at China, which had already been a longstanding civilization by the time Jesus was born, and see what was going on there. It turns out that there was a lot of change and turmoil going on there, and in this video we'll take a deep dive into it!

People keep speaking on the dangers of being a vigilante, but forget the most well-appreciated vigilantes stepped in where the law was neutered. Of course we should not go hurting people who have done bad things, as none of us are innocent. That is the proxy the law offers, is an assurance that the right course was made. But we also all loved Taken, so I'm not surprised that people sympathize with him. In a country where innocent men are given the death penalty, I am very unsad to see a man giving out essentially the same thing to innocent sick people gone. I don't care. Those in power should wake up and realize this was always the potential if they ignore their actual constituents needs. We could have a German system of healthcare which would be much better but we do not. Letting insurance companies commit highway robbery was never going to end well.
As a kiwi, I’m surprised the U.S has major problems with gun violence and mass shootings, yet something like this is unprecedented. If I had to watch my family die as they reject treatment for the insurance I paid for I would probably become a terrorist
All women reactions....
Actually a cute little town! Almost all of the buildings appear to be well-maintained, and the setting is gorgeous.

One of my ancestors, John Goad, was captured along with Daniel Boone by the Pawnee/Shawnee and taken to Ohio way back. Boone escaped and waited 10 days hiding in the woods until John Goad escaped and they made it back to West Virginia together.
Poorest place in the USA is the Pine Ridge Reservation, Ogala, Lakota, Sioux, Native Americans. ( West Virginia, Apalachian area, has the poorest white people in the USA and there are more white Americans on Social Services and Medicaid than people of "color")
ey luigi whacked that gabagool eeeyyy im walking here
Looks awesome! I respect the effort that goes into your videos
Thanks! Kind of a shame that my Chongqing and Sichuan vids performed so poorly. Had fun making them though!
I am sure the Native Americans on the reservation are very poor.
I live not too far from there and own property in neighboring county… I was born in eastern Kentucky but moved to Florida as an adolescent. I moved back after my kids were grown for exactly what you see…
My grandmother, my last living relative, was a schoolgirl during the Japanese occupation of Shanghai Hongku District (not Manchukuo!) and when she was still mobile & energetic was a great guide of local history, even down to the details of bullet scars on old buildings. While JP did not build any tram lines in Shanghai, remnants of old colonial Ines still exist in the form of electric trolly bus lines that still follow the routes, some using the overhead wires still maintained. These are more obvious in Jing'an District such as the old Xikang Lu line where the density of existing buildings limited road widening, forcing Metro to be the modernization route. Great video, new subscriber.
lol not what I expected, I figured they were all gonna laugh at the concept of medical debt.
These old American towns are extremely beautiful. The old and beautiful America. Greetings and love from Beirut, Lebanon.
lets be honest , if the guy were ugly everyone would hate him , halo effect is way more important (from the pragmatic view) than the "noble cause"
People already idolized him before they knew what he looked like. You also are using pragmatic incorrectly, as what you're describing is mostly theory. Pragmatically, people like him because they dislike insurance companies (for better or for worse.) Hop off of whatever incel subreddit you're on, touch some grass, and realize whatever point you're making is missing the forest for the trees--believe it or not everyone isn't as shallow as you are
@poobhabib Guess what genius , Multiple people were idealizing him BEFORE knowing what he did just from looking the photos of him and is clear as day that the opposite is a minority "Pragmatic" is practical, results-oriented approach to problem-solving or decision-making. A pragmatic person focus on what works instead of Cute Ideas Like The Ones You Spread here From a pragmatic standpoint, the halo effect can indeed work in favor of attractive people, granting them advantages in social contexts. Attractive individuals are Generally treated more favorably, are given more opportunities, and perceived as more competent, even if these traits aren't actually there. Beauty is more practical asset in social situations than virtue People are shallow as fuck man,it is just more comfortable to pretend they are not
Yeah china hates Japan I wanna see this.
Amazing story! Grateful you survived <3 Late Merry Christmas
Thanks amigo! Stay blessed and hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
This video shows me that not only do we have a lot in common with eachother, but the entire world.
working class people often (not always) have more in common with each other than with ruling class people
I love you Luigi impression, more of that please.
Haha, glad to see at least someone appreciated it.
Except that sad state of the law I don't think China or any of us has a great legal system anymore
Gotta agree with a lot of the sentiment
Mangione's assasination getting heroicised. And I totally get it.
Merry Christmas, Mr. Chopsticks! Thank you for the unexpected present. Sounds like while you weren’t in mob, you were adjacent to the mob. Also, I thought you had a strong voice. Let us know if you’ll ever compete on the Voice.
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones as well! Yeah, I know a lotta people, or well, I did. These days I keep a VERY small circle. China ain't what it once was... And please note that I said I love to sing, but I never claimed to be all that good at it! LOL Stay blessed my friend!
It's the same as the stuff you get in the west, but a bit delusional, "the state of the law in the united states" as if they don't have robber barons and billionaires in china, try even looking at them funny and you'll be in prison for the rest of your life, what are you talking about "law in the united states", their billionaires are even more powerful than the Americans are due to stronger links to the government, it's wild that the Chinese somehow got duped into thinking their country is somehow egalitarian
1:57 start the Chinese comments
GDF Vibes
In Brazil, you would hear THE SAME comments. I hear the SAME comments from people here about this episode. Everyone in this planet are being screwed by some greedy souless billionaire companies.
I ain’t saying this to be mean or ugly but why is it that the poorest of white people always have a confederate flag? That’s the question I would like to have answer. I’m not the richest person but answer me that question.
Deport all chinese in your country and dont accept tourist chinesr anymore
Looks shit and boring.
you ain't chinese. you just used google translate. u didn't translate the meaning and the folk slang
Yeah I thought straight away I could do the same thing with google translate lol
Your story reminds me of an incident that happened in Tangshan. This incident was actually very sensational at the time. Three girls were having late-night snacks at a barbecue restaurant when several hooligans tried to harass them. One of the girls resisted strongly and ended up with serious injuries. It’s such a terrible incident, and it makes me feel that when some Chinese people claim China is the safest country in the world, it’s nothing but a joke.(By the way I am a Chinese)
Oh yeah - that Tangshan story was BRUTAL. I remember that. And that's only a story that we heard of! Most of these stories get hidden so we never even hear about them! I've seen something worse in China than what happened in Tangshan, with my own eyes. I'll save that story for another day though!
Luigi
Yowzers... intense disappointment in the minds of man. Very disturbing how many are excusing rule by vengeance. I mean, save it for the comics. I'd have been horrified enough to see this guy's "mask" now available on the usual a-express type sites, but the commentary is in many ways worse and de-elevated to the same level as the perp - and the ins corp itself.
sleep not well. Eat not well. All my mind is about Luigi😂
Been to Owsley County many times. And that is quite accurate. People are pretty cool though.
Wild
Where is Mario Mangione?
In another castle
Doesn't matter where Mario is. Luigi has surpassed him as a legend.
my favorite comment ' those who carry firewood for the public should not be allowed to freeze to death in the wind and snow"
this is the old saying from China
为众人抱薪者,不可使其冻毙于风雪;为大众谋福利者,不可使其孤军奋战;为自由开路者,不可使其困顿于荆棘
Of course the door’s locked - it’s a jail!
please stop speaking in a Brooklyn accent when saying teh name Luigi, he is not a lower middle class loaf about
.....
Without the CPC government, China would have worse more Healthcare predators. Guaranteed. But no CEO would be murdered, though.
Love Luigi Mangione. He is gone global now. Love from Africa.
Finally som perspective on this from outside the states
"this unfortunate incident" - I know are supposed to say that, however
Luigi is a legend
St Luigi ❤ A self sacrificing hero.
He has not been proven guilty yet.
Allegedly killed.
There is not much sympathy for greedy CEO's anywhere in the world, it seems.
More like sympathy for human beings with family’s. People are too quick to call ceos bad people just because they have money
@@Cloggedlamp Yeah it’s not like he used AI to deny 80% of insurance claims and left people to die
@@Cloggedlamp where was the sympathy when they denied the claims of over 30% of their policyholders, who also have families? do their families not count? is the family of the person responsible for their deaths supposed to mean more?
@@wishub Ok, a few things. First thing , two wrongs don’t make a right, period. Secondly, decisions are made by everyone in positions that affect people. You can look at any decision any world leader or powerful ceo made that has killed people indirectly or directly. The ceo of united didn’t wake up one day and personally chose to kill people, he made a business decision and we can’t measure the indirect effect of that. It could have killed people, could have saved people. These are things we can’t measure. On a smaller level even you and I have most likely indirectly killed people. My main conclusion and concern are this. Yea I do respect anyone that has a goal and carries it in order to enact justice for something they are passionate about to an extent, but if we glorify people who kill CEO’s whats next? Just keep killing ceos and politicians because we think they are morally wrong? Why stop at one ceo. It’s just bad precedent and not how society should work. If we tried to right everything thing we deemed morally wrong there wouldn’t be a single person left.
@@Cloggedlamp monsters are people too? and since when did we started idolizing hitlers and do nazis also had family?
