Very valid points. I myself are using my Q3s (28 and 43) for determined, rather slow but - if possible - artistic shots. I use my Nikon gear for fast moving objects/animals and tele-applications. It is the same with fountain pen, ballpoint pen and pencil. Different purpose, different tools. Easy.
Yes, I updated the software and when by take a pic while video spontaneously on but unknown to me, I can get the pic to open in LRC but only in library module and cannot transport to PS or email to another person or edit in any other module in LRC . Sending the camera back to Leica --if they cannot fix will sell the camera at big loss since pain in the ass to keep checking the Home Screen to see if camera in photo or video mode.
I have the Q2. Sometimes I record a video and it can look amazing, because of the lens and the rendering. I'm happy that it's there, even though it's not the main attraction.
Love the pink drill metaphor! ;-). Thoughtful, fun and interesting video. When the Q3 was only available with a 28mm i was ok moving on. But now, with the 43mm option, it does tease at the back of the mind. Until it’d come time to pay the bill.
Glad you could appreciate my drill, always screws me over. I watched a vid today of a German on Q3-43 and his first experiences. His take is that he is eagerly waiting for the first firmware upgrade. Like with the M11, the Q343 seems to suffer from similar issues for buyers. So don't foot that bill yet
There are no Leica dealers in Atlanta. Leica said to mail it to them. The insurance was 96$ but that's part of the cost of owning a camera like the Q3. Yes I was surprised they did not send the return labels. I guess if I bought it on Amazon it would have been prepaid. So far my Leica experience has been kind of one and done.
For me personally, a Leica is something that is financially unviable so therefore it's never going to be on my radar. If I suddenly come into a lot of money then sure, I possibly would buy one. I will admit the one thing Leica's do better than any other company is hold their value. Nice video.
That is my point for new Leica cameras, the initial price is unaffordable. Used it is still relatively expensive, but you can save up and buy a used camera and lens combo. That said in my experience once you have the Leica in hand, you'll keep it for a number of yrs (5-10 yrs easily)
My biggest con would be the unwanted attention a Leica brings. Not just from fans, but thieves. Excellent video as always. That cl though... Maybe that would work.
It can attract the wrong crowd, but so can a Fuji x100v/vi. Point is that in general i am aware as a photographer of my surroundings, but i do avoid big tourist spots by default. The CL is quite the camera, testing it, would love to be able to buy the native 18mm but these things are hard to find and quite expensive, so sigma 56mm should do the trick.
@@PaulTakesPhotos Great video, as usual, Paul....Had a CL a while back and stupidly sold it. Big mistake....so, recently I bought another one and very happy now. And just received a very nice used Leica 18mm....takes excellent photos! Worth it! Now trying to decide which other lens to get for it......I do have a few nice vintage lens with adapters, so will try those out and then decide if I want to get another Leica or other lenses....
Leica Brand is an inspiration for better photography. Technically you will unlikely see the difference from a Japanese brand, but Leica are for long time photographers that want simplistic interface to focus on the only important thing, compose and expose.
for me it is Leica or nothing , or my Iphone only, it is not about specs anymore because each camera nowadays is good enough , Sony is an horreur to use , Leica is minimalist and wonderful
Another con, finally can afford leica experience and bought a Q3. Every 4 or 5th shoot the photo spontaneously goes into video and not until you take the card to post edit do you realize that most of the shots are ruined and the few that freeze when you focus--PS does not support and the develop module in LRC does not support.
Sony A7C is magnesium alloy, same as Leica. FYI. Same *small* size. Amazing sensor (both use Sony sensors). Adapt M-mount glass to it. Marry the glass, date the camera.
You can get a top tier leather Gordy strap for forty bucks. Have had mine for years. No issues. Voitglander M-mount glass is amazing value. Quality is on par with Leica for 1/5 the cost. Image and build quality. Get the close focus adapter and any lens can get closer than 0.7 mm rangefinder restriction. So adapting Leica to Sony lets you use *more* Leica lenses.
Hey @paul great video! Where is your review of the CL? I’d love to have your take.
@@prspth thanks, it is in the making :) will take a month or so
Wow thanks@@PaulTakesPhotosI'm using a T and considering upgrading to a TL2 or a CL. Your video will surely greatly help me decide ☺

That is a great perspective! Thank you for sharing

Well normally Leica will take the errors in the camera seriously and might even replace your camera

Thanks for sharing, somehow, to me, Leica is for photography. Kind of a purist or stubborn old man in that way
I have my first 2 rolls of film shot with my m-a sitting in the mailbox right now. First time shooting with an actual camera in 15 years
Exciting stuff! Enjoy the experience

Great video.
Thank you for the endorsement. Means a lot to me :)

Seems you have been getting the raw deal, here in a Europe there well known for their customer service and long waiting times for repairs

I doubt if they will replace the camera since they didn't even offer to pay the postage and insurance to send back.
That is hard to believe. I sent in my Leica to a dealership who took care of the shipping to their store and from there to Leica

@archimark5060 well episode coming up on the CL as it is a camera that has grown on me over the last couple of months...

That is true and Leica cameras have long durability. I met somebody who is shooting with the m8 since 2009. Tells you something.
Laughs in Contax 😂

I have sony for 5 years with the last small a7cr, but really can’t compare it. Just a leica with one lens you enjoy 10x more go out and shoot
I have the m6, and think to sell my gears to get M11-M
@@Alexframesrj i owned the A7R3 with GM lenses, the image quality is perfect but I never liked the camera
Id be careful to go for an M11 given some issues the camera line has that Leica has not yet fixed. Better M10 monochrome or M Monochrom
It is often overlooked how a camera agreed or didn't agree with us. Fuji x100v really didn't agree with me.

Oh so sorry to hear that. Just a small question, did you update the firmware? PS and LRC should be supported.

It's the manual glass that slows you down. Not the camera.

Any full frame mirrorless, actually* (Nikon, etc.)
That is a great tip! Had not heard of close focus adapters. Will buy one so i can mount my voigtlander 35mm nokton on my A7IIi (the work horse camera)
No !
