G'day folks, welcome to my channel.
Feel free to subscribe to follow along as I tackle projects ( usually a random or spontaneous idea that pops into my head! and quite often requiring me having a go at certain things I have no experience with ), the occasional kayak/camping trip where I continue to catch less fish than I'd like. And well, if something different pops into my head, I'll possibly film that as well. Mostly it's about keeping the mind occupied with things I love to do, being outdoors for one, a bit of inspiration, an adventure here and there, and just plain old enjoying life in and around this crazy old world we live in.
Stay well and thanks for watching.
Cheers,
Mark.

Work Car Ute & Canopy Makeover - Should Have Done This Years Ago!
G'day folks,
I finally got around to doing something I've thought about often, converting my work car from a tub ute to a tray ute. In the process I've gained a lot more space and more importantly, easier access for these old bones of mine. I'm very happy with the result.
Stay well folks,
Mark.

Goodbye And Happy Trails Gypsy Wagon
มุมมอง 2.8K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
G'day folks. Well as the title and thumbnail suggests, I've sold the Gypsy Wagon. A desire to re-focus 2024 and beyond on my ultimate goal of acquiring my own parcel of land, involved re-couping my costs of the wagon build and re-establishing work and income after a long time away from it. Sad to see it go, but at the same time happy to be moving forward on the goal. As always folks, stay well ...

How it started to how it ended. A time lapse of my Australian, traditionally inspired, Gypsy Wagon build. Imagination and determination is the key folks. Using those two traits, you can do anything yo...

G'day folks! Well after a long, long time between videos, with all manner of roadblocks thrown up in front of me, from financial to muscle injury, nerve impingement (and the subsequent and ongoing treatment recovery), and totally inconsistent weather, I can finally upload the final Gypsy Wagon video! I hope you enjoy it. I hope you've enjoyed the whole series as much as I've enjoyed creating it...
Watersnake Trolling Motor With PWM On My Kayak
มุมมอง 1.5Kปีที่แล้ว
G'day folks. I felt the need for speed...and because I can sometimes be a lazy bugger...I invested in a Watersnake trolling motor for my kayak, along with a Pulse Width Modulator and 50Amp Lithium battery. However, being that my kayak doesn't have a provision for mounting a motor at the rear, which was my preferred placement for it, I had to get a bit creative in making it all work. But I do ha...

G'day folks! It's been a long time between videos...sorry about that. Plenty of hold ups, some lengthy decision making processes and just general rigours of life dictating their terms. I have ticked off a lot of jobs on the wagon though and well, I think I'm close, very close to the end. Thanks for sticking around and as always, stay well. Cheers, Mark.

Hello folks, a bit of a late start to 2023 but I'm back on the wagon! ..the Gypsy Wagon that is. Major jobs, little jobs, it all adds up to inching closer to the end. Hello to new subscribers, hope you enjoy the ride. Patches of time may pass between uploads, but stick with me, we'll get to the end eventually. Stay well all, Mark.

Gypsy Wagon 13 - Fixtures And Features
มุมมอง 11Kปีที่แล้ว
G'day Folks. Closing out the year with this episode. I concentrate once again on the outside, adding various fixtures and features, again using one-off items in a repurposed manner and seeing if they work. So far I'm happy with the results. Stay well, take care, and I hope everyone has a relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable Xmas holiday period. See you in the new year! Cheers, Mark.

I make no apologies for this music-fest of a video. I can promise you though that I don't sing in it :) In this episode I finally get to use some materials I've had stored and waiting for quite some time. Some new product and of course some second hand stuff re-purposed. Thanks to all the wonderfully wide and varied musicians at, www.epidemicsound.com Stay well folks! Mark.

G'day folks, some visual changes take place. The Gypsy Wagon starts to take on more detail as I tackle the thousand and one little jobs, starting with the two main windows, which I'm loving. And a front door that I love even more. Thanks for watching and as always, stay well! Mark.

Building A Gypsy Wagon - Part 10 - The Guts'n'Bolts
มุมมอง 4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
There is an end in sight but not yet, not yet. We're getting into what seems to be a thousand and one jobs now, little and big. The detail is only going to increase from this point forward. I finally solve and finish my hidden rain gutters, refashion a vanity/kitchen cabinet and sink, and settle on (I hope) my wood heating choice. Stay well folks! Mark.

Great vid and a great build. Stunning piece of work, well done. 😀👍
Thanks Bob. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
I am so inspired by your vardo that I'm going to make one. You don't happen to have plans, do you?❤️❤️❤️
I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂 No plans unfortunately, it all came out of my head! But google and youtube searches helped a lot. All the best with it. 🙂
@RedPathRambler yeah, I can understand it being in your head. I do the same thing. It sure turned out nice.
🤗🤗🤗🤗🫡🫡🫡❤
It came out fantastic, though it hurt my soul to see that beautiful furniture cut up like that.
Thanks for watching. 🙂 Admittedly there were a couple of vintage items cut up. But most of it was plentiful reproduction stuff.
Have not seen you for some time. One can feel the coziness of your build. What a gift you have. I'm 89 took my gypsy caravan to a first nations campground beach front. Had a wonderful two weeks with my dog and cat. Hope to get away for three weeks next summer. Really enjoyed following your progress. You are the type of man I admire so much. Reminds me of my wonderful father and brothers. When I was young I hung out with them a lot instead of my sisters. .love nature which you are surrounded by. Animal sounds beautiful calves "horsing"around, enjoy your brick cart with its new life. Great work.
Thanks for sticking around Angela 🙂 Back in 2006 my brother and I did about a 6000 mile road trip in the US. Loved it so much I didn't want to come home. If I could I'd do it again in a flash! It's been a challenging year for me this one. After selling the Gypsy Wagon, paying off a small debt and locking the rest away so I don't waste it, getting back into generating income from my trade has been really slow going. The work isn't regular, it ends up just paying for living costs, which are through the roof in this country. So I've kinda been in preservation mode all year, unable to do much project wise...but I'm thinking about it every day. The Gypsy Wagon series and the time lapse video gave me a really good boost in subscribers, views etc. and unfortunately I haven't been able to follow up and continue the momentum. Hopefully people will stay subscribed and hopefully I can come back with something new and interesting. Stay well Angela 🙂
It's so beautiful; well done you! ♥
@@Momcat6 Thanks for watching. 🙂
Paint the outside electrical outlet same blue as the outside area blue.
@RogerTaggert Possibly the new owners might do it. 🙂
Hi Mark can you please tell me what the product is you used on the outside of your gypsy wagon is it cement based product or timber sheet thanks Peter.
G'day Peter, It was the woodgrain version of this sheet below. And this is the place I got mine from. However, the sheets I got had a 90mm repeating board width, as opposed to this linked one which is 300mm width repeating. The ones I got don't seem to be available at this place anymore, at least they're not on the website. But it is an external, timber based cladding product that comes primed. Hope that helps. 🙂 tileimporter.com.au/product/weathertex-primelok-smooth-weatherboards-200mm-x-3-6m-x-9-5mm/
I remember paying about $83 per sheet. There seems to be a far more expensive version of what I got in that Weathertex range.
excellent wagon and build, sir. beautiful wagon
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Beautiful work and looks like a nice place to “just be”.
@@callison2138 Thanks for watching. And yes, it is a nice place to be. 🙂
Cuts on them beams were rather impressive 👏🏻
Yup the chunky beams ✊🏻!
You sir are brilliant!
Well I don't know about that John. Brilliance by trial and error maybe 🙂 Thanks for watching. 👍
My favorite part is that you repurposed all of that furniture. The headboard as a table impressed me, but the sink! Such creativity! I loved the seats on the porch. I am sure you will use them all of the time. I thought for sure you were going to bring in a horse to pull it. I'm just wondering how top-heavy it is? Beautiful work, especially in the exterior decoration.
@Kammy44 Thank you Kammy, glad you enjoyed it. 🙂 The repurposing of things is probably the most fun part, making things work. It handled the short journey across the paddock very well. Pretty much all the weight is low at floor level and below. Sadly though, I have since sold the wagon.
@@RedPathRambler The creativity is in the making! I bet you will just make something else great!
Best Vardo build I’ve seen on TH-cam!
@user-uv2pk2jx9s Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

Absolutely a labor of love! I love how you were able to repurpose many items into your creation! It shows you have an eye for so much detail -- you should be proud!

Lost your channel sub & the rest when I changed computer servers, happy to find you again. The Ford looks Great! What a small world that the tray, canopy & rack were all original. Great work, can't wait till your next project, I'm sure you've been very busy with work. My thoughts exactly - looks like a perfect space to sleep awhile. Love the birds singing & squawking, beautiful stunning view, love the woods & fields (grew up in similar up north). Give the dog a pat on the head for me from here in the states, (Florida) & hello to the Kouka'.
@Samantha-ci1fi Thanks for sticking around. Yep, serendipitous the way that canopy and rack were reunited. And yes, keeping on top of the finances is taking full focus for the time being. Hopefully I can get stuck into a new project in the near future. Dog patted..and patted..and patted...
Are you plugged in and do you have solar panel to help run electric it is a beautiful
Thanks for watching. 🙂 It's wired like a modern caravan, with a 15amp power inlet. No solar, but could be easily done.
👍 Super craftman, great skills, a very good eye for details! In one word; fantastistic.. ❤
Thanks for watching. 🙂
Would be nice to have on one a trailer you could pull behind a car at 72 I have not had horses in year would make a nice camper be good
Hello your up grades are great keep up the good job. I could use it in my sister's back yard for my own place to live I could be happy with that
Hammer super süß❤😂
Perfect wonderful job you have made
@harryredcliffe3356 Thanks Harry. 🙂
Very nice it could be used as a small house but one thing is missing a bathroom KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND HAVE A GOOD DAY
Thanks for watching. 🙂 Yes unfortunately the bathroom had to be compromised out of the equation as far as available space. Although technically, one could stand at the sink and have a standing sponge bath. 🙂
It’s stunning, love the colors you used. Makes me inspired to make a miniature out of it 🥰
That would be cool to see Brenda. Thanks for watching. 🙂
Oh my. I am a bit heartbroken that you sold your lovely wagon! Oh well, change is constant. Sending you light and good wishes for the future.
It was sad to see it go. But as you say, change is constant. All the best to you as well. 🙂

Love it. I think I just did mine too, with the picture in my head.

It’s a glorious Sunday morning here, coffee at my side, just finished this beautiful video. Found myself feeling emotional at times watching a piece of art about a man building a piece of art with masterful skills. I didn’t know I needed this. A deep felt and sincere thank you for sharing your heart with us all. Be well friend.
Thanks for watching Peter, glad you enjoyed it. Really appreciate your comment. Sunday morning coffee...probably the best time to watch it. 🙂
You missed one thing, the two horses needed to support the weight. Amazing work , for me the question of horses power is first. Gypsy wagons are such more light.
Thanks for watching. 🙂 Didn't have the horses on hand unfortunately. The under carriage and platform I started with is an original Melbourne Brick Cart, very heavy duty. So when loaded, it would have been pulled by a team of horses, probably 4 or more. Hence, I only built a traditionally inspired Gypsy Wagon, not a real one.
Simply beautiful!😊
WOW what an absolutely magnificent creation , i enjoyed watching every minute if it being built . Well done that man , you are a legend !!

@@RedPathRambler thats one hell of an achievement and talent
❤As a child, i had a recurrent dream that i lived in a "roulotte" like this one. It is a blessing to be gifted with such talented craftmanship. It would take me a year just to measure and cut. Nice video! I just bought a nice padded boat seat for my Lifetime Yukon, with absolutely no idea how im doing to mount it. Your video gives me confidence that i can figure it out. 😁
Thanks for watching. 🙂 Good luck with it! Did the Yukon come with a framed seat that slots into moulded areas ? If so, maybe you can incorporate the boat seat into the frame of the original seat.
@RedPathRambler thank you. Yeah, it does have the molded slots, as you mentioned. I'm definitely going to use the transom plate like you used on your seat.
@@markgreen9225 I'm still using mine after all this time, can't go back after having padding. I did however remake my frame with aluminium tubing to make it lighter, worked a treat.
I always said that if the world got any crazier, I was going to build a horse drawn wagon and just vanish into the great wilderness that is our nation, and I may still drop everything and do it... Let the idiots try and find me!
That's my plan. Except I'll be taking the kayak up river to my hidey hole camp site. 🙂
I'm so sorry you have to part with your amazing work of art. I pray that God would bless your life and open a door for you to do the things you love to do creatively you have incredible talent.

Outstanding! It's a beautiful thing. Thank you. I think I'm in love with you. 😍
@susanhamilton1822 Thanks for watching Susan, glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Guys a genius what a talent and no plans just from the top of his head
Well shucks, my IQ ain't that high. But thanks for watching. 🙂
My grandfather was a cartwright/wheelwright. In assembling the chassis, it's important to have the axels the right way 'round because each side is threaded differently. That ensures that the forward movement of the caravan will keep the wheel nuts tight. Otherwise, the nuts loosen, and off come the wheels. (There were even automobile manufacturers who perpetuated this practice for fastening tire rims to axels.)
I admire the old trades, or at least the surviving old trades. I think my wheels were a bit different in that they slid on the axle and then a heavy duty pin dropped into a space preventing them from working their way off. So, no actual wheel nuts on them.
Wow! Just Wow! This little wagon is so charming.
@@shenandoah1322 Thanks for watching. 🙂
