1973 Honda CB750 Video 6 Carb Rack Spacer Manufacture
Had some issues with the carb rack on the bike. We had to cut off an original spacer that had a broken bolt in it. Tried everything, but it wouldn't budge so we just made a new one.

1973 Honda CB750 Video 5 The Motor is Out

Well we finally got it done. The motor is out of the bike and on the bench. Currently I am working on the carburetors so I will make a video of that as well. More coming soon!

Well the weather is getting cold and so its time to start tinkering in the shop on the bikes. I've been prepping this bike to pull the motor out of it and start fixing it up.

Rapid Fix Review
มุมมอง 7K8 ปีที่แล้ว
I had a broken side cover for my 1976 GL1000 and wanted to fix it rather than replace it. I saw rapid fix and wanted to give it a shot to see for myself. This is, IMO, a tremendous product that works exactly as advertised.

When it comes to vintage Honda Goldwing head gaskets you cant beat OEM Honda. This video shows the visible differences between Honda gaskets and other gasket manufactures products. These supposed Honda gaskets were just as expensive as the actual Honda gaskets and I am sure the quality is questionable. Looking at your top dead centre through the inspection hole, your number 1 appears above the T. Another video on the same topic shows 1, then F, then T on top dead centre. What's happening here please as I can't imagine this is different in different GL1000 models. I have the 76 Ltd. Thanks

    I pulled off my secondary air system, mostly because I was fixing a carb leak and had to pull the carb so I figured I would try it. Bike is running perfect without those extra hoses and its a HELLUVA lot easier to get that carb in and out. My 2 cents.

    You did it like a Pro, Boss. You may have said this but but one should use some sort of device (small stick, screwdriver) to confirm that the no 1 cylinder is at the top of it's stroke when everything is lines up- the reason I point this out is that I am working on a bike where someone overtightened ALL the tappets so NONE have any clearance! Thanks for the video.

    Good afternoon! I just changed the timing belts on my 1977 Honda GL1000 thanks to your video, very helpful! I do have a question related to being off a tooth. When I first removed the covers, I noticed that the timing marks on the wheel for the cylinders 1 & 3 was right on, but the wheel for cylinders 2 & 4 was off a tooth (timing mark on wheel was just slightly above (+/- 3/16") the timing mark on the case). I tried to adjust the position as I installed the new belt, but it kept reverted back to the initial setting. The bike runs fine now with the new timing belts, so I'm wondering if I need to open it up again and somehow adjust the 2 & 4 wheel. What do you suggest? Thanks!

    • @btrapp37
      @btrapp37 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have heard tale of them running fine being off a tooth. It seems like perhaps its the valve pressure that's throwing it off. You have to make sure you eliminate that "wonder" which I point out in one of the 3 videos in this series. If you think you have everything set up correct, and it runs seemingly perfect; then I think your good bud.

    • @jimharris9572
      @jimharris9572 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@btrapp37 Great, thanks! I'm thinking that if the timing mark on the left wheel or gear is just slightly above the timing mark on the case it would just mean that cylinders 2 & 4 would just fire slightly late, somewhere after the F mark and before TDC, everything else being correct.

    I've used a palm oribital sander with a 5 gallon plastic bucket suspended from a ceiling rafter with bungee cord.. Simple Green D ( Aluminum safe)heated to 140° works great or 1 gallon of Distilled water heated to 140° with 1/2 cup of Dawn Dish Detergent and 1 tablespoon Baking Soda works really well.

      David k There’s nothing wrong with having someone do it for you as well. It’s easy enough, and you do not need to remove the motor from the frame. The only issue you may have is finding someone to work on it. Don’t wait until spring! You’ll likely never get it into a dealer if you wait. Good luck!

      @@btrapp37 I recently picked up a 84 that had been sitting for a few years. Went through the carbs and just cleaned them, got it running fairly well. Developed a leak in the fuel connection tubes so bought a rebuild kit. At that point found someone had jammed bolts in the SAS tubes to block the air. Removed them all and reassembled, bike seems to NOT run well now. Bogs, not a super crisp rev...and a baby backfire when coming down on idle. I believe the Amazon rebuild kit I got had some not original spec jets in it. Back to the drawing board I think. Lol I might put the original jets back in and see if that helps....after a good soak and inspection of them of course.
