Always wrap the paper around a block. Never use your fingers. Fill a bucket with water and car wash soap and let the sandpaper soak for 20 minutes first to soften the paper
Cool to see a young guy presenting a great special on the thunderbolt well spoken well done!!
Great job man
Thanks man.
The Disco Nova 1975 - 1979 💃 💃 💃
1:11 Aint no god damn chill
I have Mustang 2 1974 mint condition 19500 miles driven bought in 1974 first owner
I should of watched this video before I started sanding I went over the body lines and i sanded through the paint
Very well done young man no one considered the Mustang II a serious Mustang... BUT in quotation marks the electric Mustang it's just laughable😅
I’d love to have my ‘70 Maverick Grabber green back in my Garage. I outran V8 Mavericks with my 200CID with an Offenhauser manifold and 3-1 barrel carbs.
Oh… this was the clear coat… woulda been nice if that was part of the intro or did I miss where you said you were fixing the clear coat vs the actual paint?
10.20 stock with c4 in 1/8 . 9.9s with a stick if ya didn't break it. With a Trac/loc a bit better on street tires, 13 inch rims was a down side.
Great video, why did it take so long? Because on video it looks like a fast process..
My uncle had a 1968 XR-7 in dark green with a tan interior and chrome Cragar rims. Beautiful.
This looks great! May i ask how many coats and did you clear coat it? If so which kind? Thanks 🎉
Sure thing, i used Nason paint and clear coat 3 coats of each
The Fairmount was a suitable successor. But after that, nothing has become close. Surely not the Tempo or contour. The later Fusion tried. It was a nice car. But still not the spirit of the Maverick
You were wetsanding the paint, and not the clear coat?, After you Wetsanded, and polished, you don't apply clear coat? Or your car paint already contains clear coat in itself?
it was already clear coated
@@maddenmadness Thank you
I owned three 340 Dart/Swinger/Demons over the years. Wish I still had one !
You show me where you can get these cars for under 10k!
Good job man well done🛞🚗💯
Two 70 cougars were given to me not at the same time in the middle 80s one was a factory Cleveland car was i had them now
That was bad prep not cheap equipment.
Idk man, a textured finish/orange peel isn't really a result of bad prep. I mean you can get texture if you fail to sand your primer, but im talking specifically about orange peel. Bad prep usually, in my experience, results In adhesion problems, but not texture. Texture can definitely be caused by cheap equipment, depending on the specifics, but in my experience it's usually caused by improper spraying technique.
Great job!!! Is that just water in the spray bottle when you wet sand or is there anything else added?
Thanks man, and its just water
Was this done before or after a clear coat?
After the clear coat
ONE BAD ASS SLED
At mind the engine had been replaced Eighty seven g m good wrench crate engi Pushing two hundred and eighty horses
Running and driving.I drove the hell out of it.I love that car.I got lucky.Cause I had it, it's got a 1980 Kevin.Create a jim goodranchanging it to a hundred and eighty horse
And I got mine for a 500 dollar Ford ranger pick up
The only thing he failed to mention. Is there still one of those cars that anybody can pick up a wrench and wrench on? You don't have to be that technical. You can do almost all the work yourself. Actually pretty much in the whole car. I'm si'm 66 years old. And I have one of these and I love it granted.I wanted a seventy two , but like he said , they're pretty expensive now
We are the 2nd owner of a 75 Ghia coupe. GREAT little car. Also do not forget the huge contribution the Mustang II made to the Hot Rod community. Even my 46 Ford has Mustang II front and rear suspension. Thanks
What about your clearcoat?
Wait no need to re paint after wet sanding? My dads convinced I have to re paint and when I wet sanded, I did sand some paint off
Id really appreciate any tips first time ever painting. Maybe I just didn’t paint enough layers before wet sanding??
@@satino8082 Yeah typically after wet sanding and buffing there's no need to repaint. painting's done more case by case tho, So you may consider talking to paint shop. But if your paint is thin you may try wet sanding with a higher girt, that would minimize the possibility of sanding through the paint.
@@maddenmadness i will try that thank you and great video!
we wouldn't have the Fox Body without the Mustang 2. In fact the Mustang 2 was the first Mustang to use the beloved Windsor engine
Great tutorial. I actually put a DupliColor Perfect Match finish on an acoustic guitar. The color is similar to the one on your car. In the guitar finishing process, it’s typical to end up with an “orange peel” look after all the painting is done, regardless of the type of finish being applied. I’ll use techniques similar to yours during the cutting and buffing process. After correcting some mistakes in my efforts, I eventually got a mirror-like shine. I have another guitar project that’s ready to be cut and buffed. Your video helped refresh my memory. Hopefully I’ll get the same results. Thanks for a great refresher course!
Awesome man, good luck with the guitar.
There reliable because It's because there under powered so much the engine isn't stressed
Great video thank you for the education. When you buy extension cords, buy #12 or #10 AWG. The outside jacket is thicker and heavy duty. The wire being bigger can handle the amperage. Long cords = voltage drop, voltage drop = higher current. Higher current burns up smaller gauge wire.
Thanks for the tip!
My first car was a 1969 Dodge Dart 340. I loved that car and wish I still had it
thnx for the video, cus i was nearly starting to give up. Did an amazing job painting my bumpers and tried to touch up spots and clear coat and got runs, cracks, and whatchamacallits.. tried tack rag it, dragged spot made it worse. between that and the bubbles other side, ive been pissed off for days, ready to just sell my car of all the other problems it keeps giving me. Thanks for shining a little hope bro
Thanks for watching man. Good luck with all that, I'm sure it'll turn out fine
The first car I ever owned after joining USAF was a 73 302 with power steering and those terrible drum brakes. Those things got scary in the rain. 😊
Kids, you really shouldn’t be riding your toy Mustangs on the street. You might get hit by a car.
It took 30 hours because he was using sand paper the size of his palm instead of a linear block & Mirka guide coat.
Also the uv todays heat caused the issues so it will be a waste of time money to think like new with anything spray cans etc.. just do step one two correct filler prime coat color base and best marketed clearcoat review.. under a hundred bucks materials. For hood and roof cap tundra 2001 here... ill wait a month before i complete compound rotary like this and a good polishing waxing before coldrr weather
I knows
Ill never use sand paper after k2 clearcoat. Ill just wash with a sponge maybe 2000 grit ( maybe) if i feel something otherwise its all rubbing compound 😅
Great!!! This will be video number 5000 on car painting....I got to the point that my bumper is all painted and shines but needs this step to achieve the final result!! I used Urethane clear so waiting for my 48 hr cure!!
Great video, good to see young guys talking about these cars
Reviving your Dad's car that is cool but when it's a 442 even more so!
Had a 74 and stuffed a ‘71 351W and fmx into it. What a blast blowing off 340 Challengers with it. No hood scoop, just dual mufflers dumped at the axle.
Now that! That must of been fun!
This was the info I needed; thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching!
The Maverick was created as an economy car
The cartoon caricature of a Mustang on tiny tots tires with amusement park bumpers. The Pro Stock guys went back to the Pinto because it was more aerodynamic. It did however have a great front suspension setup that could be put into something less embarrassing, but the aftermarket has that now so there really is no need in these things anymore.
