Two new trails at Fox Creek are too good to be true!
In this video I give my genuine first impressions of the 2 new adaptive downhill trails built at Fox Creek Mountain Bike Park. I didn't cover it much in the video but adaptive trails are designed for both regular mountain bikes and also 3 or 4 wheeler bikes so everyone can enjoy the ride! These trails seem like a game changing addition Fox Creek, now the variety of trails is really impressive.

Fox Creek - Fox Bowl (Updated Run!)
มุมมอง 2.8Kปีที่แล้ว
This has been my favourite track this year, it stayed pretty damp through winter so I didn't ride much but now it has dried out it is running fast! I was pretty stoked with this run and was for sure my fastest but I forgot to record with Strava.
Fox Creek - Fox Fast (Back Open!)
มุมมอง 3.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
One of my favourite tracks at Fox Creek is finally back open, the name says it all, Fox Fast is a super fast track that does not take much time at all taking 2 to 3 minutes to go from top to bottom. Lots of fun but was battling to find traction on this ride, the rain should speed things up.
New Skills Park at Fox Creek is UNREAL!
มุมมอง 11K2 ปีที่แล้ว
First time hitting the new skills park at Fox Creek. In this video I progress from the small 'C' line to the larger A-Line making sure to clear every feature. The workmanship on these jumps and features is world class, even after 3 weeks in Whistler, at no stage did I have an opportunity to hit a wallride this big, this this type of jump was completely new to me.
Fox Creek - Allen's Orange Whip to Blue Groove (Updated Run!)
มุมมอง 4.9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Latest run of the track testing my new GoPro Hero 10 with the chin mount and external microphone. Last video they were working on the upper section of Blue Groove, now its complete the full track is running insane. This is not the best run I could do but with the track being so busy its really difficult to get an un-interrupted top to bottom, so I had to go with this run for the video. Super ha...
Testing the NEW GoPro Hero 10 at Fox Creek Bike Park
มุมมอง 9733 ปีที่แล้ว
I was late to the stabilization party, but about time! Finally have upgraded from the Hero 4 to the Hero 10. Everything is a major improvement for me other than the audio because previously I was using an external mic on the Hero 4, but it still sounds great out the Hero 10 with the media mod. Much more testing to do, will give the chin mount at test and maybe even chest mount.
Fox Creek - Allen's Orange Whip to Blue Groove

Some new trail building has been done at Fox Creek adding heaps of new bike park style jumps and berms. Been meaning to do a video on Allens Whip but each time ive gone to ride it has been almost un-rideable from the wind. As I said in the video, I finally have a new GoPro coming so soon my videos will look much more upto date.
Fox Creek - Re-opening Day 2021!
มุมมอง 3.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
So stoked to be back at Fox Creek. 3 main downhill tracks have been opened for April and are surprisingly running great. Bushfires went through the area in December 2019 and was devastating to the bushland and wildlife. For the last year I haven't been into mountain biking much, taking on other hobbies such as photography, but since Fox Creek is back open im keen to get right back into it.

Swapping From Pirelli Cinturato to P ZERO Race TLR

In this video I showcase the new Pirelli P ZERO Race TLR tire and test fit to see if suitable to a 21mm internal rim width. The previous Cintrato tires were old made to suit 19mm rims, these were the best tires ive ever used apart from the loose fit to my rims compromising safety and causing a difficult set up. มุมมอง 9K4 ปีที่แล้ว
First time down 'Easy As' at O'Halloran Hill, was blown away with how nice the corners and flow were on the trail. Its a perfect trail for beginners but is also perfect for intermediate and advanced riders as its up to you how quick you hit the corners. I feel stupid for not giving this track a chance for a year, just ignored it because it was a green trail and I was missing out!

      For this exact year model, only 28mm tires will fit, and they are a tight fit but I haven't had any problems other than a few scratches as stones pass through the fork. I do remember they updated the clearance in later models to 30c or 32c but i'm not 100% what the current model takes.

      Changing the exhaust was the difference between holding 4th gear up a hill or having to drop back to 3rd gear with the stock exhaust. Funnily enough I would actually prefer the quieter exhaust now because I sound deadened the whole interior of the car. Having an exhaust note is really nice for hills driving so I can rev the car out and change gears without looking at the rev gauge.

    • @KurtisPape
      @KurtisPape 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends... 28mm tires you could occasionally ride some gravel, it's a fairly rough ride even if it's good quality gravel, I don't think you would have to worry about punctures though if you take it easy. If you went up to 35mm size it would be less harsh but still not a full time gravel tire since it doesn't have any tread. Again in terms of puncture protection most road bike tires don't last when you ride gravel but these are definitely fine for occasional gravel from my experience 👍

      @KurtisPape 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep still using the bike, I love it, handles technical sections, steep trails, jumps and harsh landings no problem. Some things I don't like about the bike is it has a strange balance point for wheelies, geometry feels neutral so sometimes it feels like I have a bit too much weight on the front wheel. Also climbing is really efficient when seated but when standing it can be a hard push. Using the bike almost every weekend since late 2017 and the bike has held up great, only got the suspension serviced once and never serviced the rear swing arm apart from replacing 4 bearings. I'm proud to have never scratched the frame in a crash, only problem is I have a few scratches from tools slipping when working on the bike and recently bike fell off the bike rack haha.

      Hey mate I appreciate the comment, yes I still ride MTB most weekends. Part of the reason I stopped posting was I ran out of ideas and I didn't want to post the same tracks over and over but the main reason is I have been flat out doing wildlife photography so all my creative effort and post processing has been going into that. It's crazy I just got my GoPro setup perfect, made a few videos and stopped. With this other photography i'm doing I now have lots of camera gear like tripods, professional grade lenses etc. that could really help me do other types of mountain bike videos. I was also doing gear reviews which I couldn't could keep up because i'm keeping all my current bikes long term and I haven't purchased much new gear. The Cinturato highly rated by Bicycle Rolling Resistance a very credible source but I JUST don't see tubeless on these particular tires which have just about the highest puncture resistance out there :-) . . . with good quality TPU tubes, you have lower all-in weight with no mess no fuss of tubeless whose "advantages" come through only with much more "fragile tires" . . . sure if you run on glass and nails all day long, fine go tubeless but under normal riding conditions tubeless is useless on these great tires :-)

    Is this a good trail to start doing gapped jumps on? I haven’t been mountain biking for long, but I can do most small-medium sized tabletops and I’m fairly confident with rough terrain (even though I’m on a hard tail). This trail seems fun, fairly easy and the gapped jumps aren’t super big, so would it be something I could learn on?

    • @KurtisPape
      @KurtisPape ปีที่แล้ว

      Since you haven't been riding for long probably not the best doubles to start on because the ones halfway down across the fireroad require a lot of speed even though they appear small. Perfect track is called 'poppin pimples' at Pewsey Vale, the map can be found on trailforks app. This track has heaps of gap jumps and most of them don't require much speed. They start tiny but get slightly bigger as you go down. I done a video on it, the track is at 5:47 into the video th-cam.com/video/tDrYqBTkpaI/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Kurtis There is still no harm in trying out Happy Trails, just do a test run and don't hit any jumps, and find a gap jump you are comfortable with and practice, probably 1 toward the end of the track would be good because you can walk back up without walking directly on the track

    Bike mechanic here. One of your senior guys at the shop showed me a trick for tires that are tricky to seat. Granted you need an air compressor. Take the valve core out and instead of using a regular shop inflator, use a needle shaped one. Get the end of it completely over thr valve stem. This trick has seated the toughess tires, including fat bike tirees.

    • @KurtisPape
      @KurtisPape ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip but I already have a 110psi air compressor and using the air gun down the stem still doesn't seat all tires. I needed 500psi with a nitrogen bottle and gauge line to seat these, but what I found was a simple fix, just add an extra layer of rim tape then the air compressor would work. I had to do this recently on my gravel bike, the air compressor wouldn't seat the tires.
