Hi, I'm Stacy, and I began a BA(Hons) in Childhood and Youth Studies with the Open University in October 2021. I have a son called Harrison, who used to be home educated but returned to mainstream school in May 2022; he will pop up in videos here and there, and so will my husband, Alex. I am no expert, but if you have any questions, just ask, and I will help if I can 😊

I also have a curious mind and this sounds ideal to record things. You sound like a very interesting lady 😊
These are brilliant you should make and sell them, I’ll be your first customer😊
Happy New Year so nice to have you back. Love your Christmas goodies xxx
Happy New Year, Stacy!
Thank you! Happy New Year to you too ❤️
Such a lovely video,thank you x
Loads of info here! Thank you!
Have you tried antibacterial hand gel on the ink? I haven’t got the heart to move to my new weeks, as I adore the cats one from this year. I’m reigning in spending on everything from now on. I have so much planner stuff and I shop to feel better. It’s great you could juggle your commitments a bit. 2024 has been a difficult year for us too, so I absolutely understand how vital it is to reassess commitments. Being an adult learner is a tough juggling act with family!
So sorry life is overwhelming at the moment my thoughts are with you all. A stationery favourites sounds like a great idea. I have to say your desk looked so inviting in the video your Christmas lights looked fab.
Enjoyed your video. Interesting, informative and useful to me. From Fiji 🇫🇯
Loved this!
Thank you-I’m so glad 😌
Ah! I’ve been shamed into organising my planner supplies now I just need to find the time to make a start . I feel an artist date coming on playing with planner goodies 😊
That sounds fun! No shame though-mine are usually unorganised! 🙈
Are you able to telle if i Tombow brush pen fits upright? They are quite long!
Hi! No, they don't unfortunately. I tested one in the video aswell as a Blackwing pencil (blink and you will miss it though!) and neither fit upright. They fit lengthways if you dont use the velcro section though if that helps 😊
makes me wanna organise my stationery too lol
Oooh, do it! It made me feel great! 😊
i love organisation videos like this!
So glad! I have lots to organise so I am happy to provide more like this 🙈😂
I loved that. 😍😍
Thank you so much 😊
New subscriber here! Loved this video, thank you! Can you please share the name of the tarot compendium you mentioned? That sounds super interesting!
Hi and welcome! So glad you liked it. The Tarot compendium is here: amzn.to/3UXVq7M It is called "Tarot. The Library of Esoterica" by Taschen. Hope that helps 😊
I am homeschooling in America and also not religious and those intellectual devotions seem like the perfect addition to my routine! Thank you for sharing - you’ve gained a new follower ❤
Oh fantastic! I think they are a fab secular alternative. So happy to have you here 😊
I am also interested in crochet, tarot, notebooks, and commonplacing 😄
Oh perfect! You will hopefully like it here then! 😊
One of the few perks of being an adult is that we can buy all the things if we so choose, so never feel bad for wanting to play with all the pretty paper things. Since I was diagnosed with arthritis last month, I’m downsizing for 2025 because I just can’t fill up, and honestly don’t need, an A5 sized page. I’m going with a Hobo Weeks Mega, an A6 and B6 Wonderland222, and an Aura Estelle Daily Weeks. I’m just trying all the smaller things in 2025 and also am going with planners that have the months and weeks grouped together (excluding the Hobo Weeks).
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, it is a great idea to downsize. You are right-I definitely shouldn't feel bad for indulging in my hobby-thank you. I would love to know what you think of the B6 Wonderland222 and Aura Estelle Daily Weeks because I have never tried those.
@ Hobbies are designed to bring us joy, so why not invest in what makes us happy?! I love the Wonderlands and the Aura Estelle so far! The grouped months and weeks is making me excited to forward plan, a thing I rarely do. If Wonderland had a Weeks size, I probably would’ve just gotten all W22. The paper is comparable to other TRP planners and I’m not finding there to be intense bleedthru in any of them, including the Aura Estelle. Since the Aura is a proper 2025 start I haven’t played in it as much as I have the rest.
I love that perspective-I will be borrowing it from now on 😂 I am new to both Aura Estelle and Wonderland and I would love to try them-Aura Estelle's covers and stickers and general aesthetic is so beautiful. The shipping costs to the UK are not fun but are very fair in comparison to Hobonichi so maybe I will give them a try next year.
@ I totally get the shipping cost being a deterrent. That’s why I didn’t get the Papertess weekly this year. I just couldn’t stomach the shipping lol. I might do it though if I don’t get it out of my mind lol.
Same girl same! I love the idea of calling it an experimental year! I have soooo many great planners to review and play around with for 2025. And I am not necessarily committing to using any single one 100% of the year. But I have big plans for my goals and big plans for playing around with lots of pretty paper and pens lol.
Haha! How many years do you think I can get away with calling 'experimental' because I fear next year will be one too! 🙈😂 That's the problem-all of the pretty paper and pens (and accessories, books, charms, stickers...)!! Well, if my channel takes off like yours, I might just be able to justify it for 'work'! 🤞😂🙈
I appreciate seeing all your planners, and knowing that you’re experimenting, and I enjoy the encouragement for us to do the same. My current obsession is setting up a travelers notebook and a commonplace book! 😊 Thanks for all the tips & explanations!
Oh, I am so glad! I am just starting to experiment with a Standard Travellers Notebook and I think I love it! So glad you are finding my videos useful 😊
I definitely want to revisit this - I went through it many years ago. As you mentioned, not sure what it is but I’m really feeling I need something 😅
Definitely recommend revisiting it. I don't know if it is muscle memory or something, but I think it is working for me even more quickly this time!
Nobody needs to justify or explain their decisions. My line up for 2025 is weeks main planner, A6 weekly supplement bag carry, A6 original memory keeper, A6 5 year, A5 Kinbor for work and Kinbor weeks for health journal. Feels a lot but I know from many many years of planning what works for me.
Thank you, you are right. I think being relatively new to the 'good' brands and collecting stationery, I feel a bit OTT sometimes, and then on days like today, I feel I don't have enough 🙈😂 I haven't tried the Kinbor planners-are they good? Are they similar to Hobonichi?
@stacysspace veeeeery similar and much cheaper!
Thanks for showing the midori commonplace book - I was wondering what it was! 😍
You are welcome! I am absolutely desperate to use it if I am honest, but I am making myself finish my current one first because I know I will never complete it otherwise 🙈😂
Oh, I've seen WAY more! Have you read Liz Gilbert's BIG MAGIC? You might appreciate it. She talks about creativity and curiosity and it's really good stuff--very Julia Cameron adjacent. 🙂
Haha! I am already planning on my next purchases so it looks like I am over my concerns 🙈😂 No, I haven't read that, but I will add it to my TBR-thank you so much x
A girl can never have too many planners. I even have a Christmas planner that only comes for two months a year but it gives me a creative outlet for Christmas stress
Haha! Same here! I forgot about it until I read this too! It's a Cath Kidston one I bought years ago! 🙈😂😂😂
Very inspirational! Thank you for this. I really want to start this!
I am so glad you think so 😊 I definitely recommend it. It is one of my favourite ways to spend 'free' time now.
Absolutely fabulous video and right up my street! I jot down bits and bibs in various places and it all gets lost. Love the dot method. Thank you for the tips and I would welcome more vids like this ❤ Also, Super interested in the intellectual devotionals but my library does it have it. Do you recommend any websites that offer this sort of stuff?
So glad you like it! I intend to make lots more videos like this one. It's a shame your library doesn't have them-are you from the UK? They are American books I think so that may be why. I can't think of any sites specifically, but I will be on the lookout so I can let you know if I find any.
@@stacysspaceyes from Uk but I did get the daily stoic from the library and that is quite a nice start 😊
@KSS709 Oh yes, that’s a good one! Have you read “101 Essays that will change the way you think” by Brianna Weist? That’s a good one too x
I recently found your channel, it’s so friendly and informative, like chatting with a friend. I love this one! I know exactly what you mean about getting lost in motherhood, and it’s wonderful, but it’s not all of you and nourishing the whole you in so smart at every age. Just loved your message. All the best!
Oh, I am so glad you like it! Thank you for letting me know. I have been creating lots of stationery videos lately, following my interests but I have some study videos planned to upload soon so hopefully you will enjoy them too. 😊
Thank you so much for sharing this video and all the vulnerability that comes with it. You have inspired me to get the book and give it a go. Another really inspirational video which I am very grateful you have produced, will let you know how I get on with my artists way journey as I work through it. Xx
Awww, thank you so much ❤️ I am sorry it has taken so long to respond-life is really 'life-ing' right now 🙈😂
Hi Stacy, I really enjoyed watching this video, thank you for sharing! It’s inspiring, and I think it’s wonderful that you’re exploring 'The Artist's Way' by Julia Cameron to help reignite your creative spark. ☺️
I am so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for letting me know-it is so wonderful to have encouragement. 😊
I've been doing Morning Pages since 2003! I remember Julia saying that since the book was first published, people have come up to her or sent her creative projects, etc. that have been a result of their Morning Pages. I have a musician friend who said he does Morning Pages to find out what he's thinking about. Ha! I look at it as giving a space for fears and doubts to be expressed, because they quiet down once they've been given a voice. Then the creative "pipes" are cleared for creativity (like your poem!) to flow through. Most of my creative projects have been born from Morning Pages, or if not, have been fleshed out in them. It's great to hear your fresh perspective on them--and a good reminder to keep those weekly art dates! 🙂
I love the idea of using morning pages 'to find out what you are thinking about'! What a lovely way of describing it! Also your way of 'clearing the pipes'! Thats exactly it isn't it?! Since 2003?! That is incredible! Have you managed to be consistent the whole time or have you had breaks? I wish I had known about them much sooner-I genuinely think I would have dealt with some of the crazy life things differently if I had. 😊
Your videos are really nice to watch! Thank you for sharing your experience and organization tips with us.
You are so welcome! I am so glad you like them. 😊
Helpful video. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful! 😊
when I go to uni next year I definitely want this planner
They are really lovely planners-Ruby brings out updated versions every year 😊
When you said "because the pages aer dated" I yelled EXACTLY! I too have the same problem with dated pages especially dailies. I am determined to finish my Moleskine pocket daily but for 2025 I just got a chunky pocket grid notebook. And yes, I agree about the morning pages and lots of folks doing a version of it but not what Julia Cameron says in The Artist Way. I did do a video about morning pages. I would love to see yours as well. And I am team Travelers Notebook (absolutely in love with he brand). I use other planners and notebooks but my TN has been a mainstay since 2016. I hope you love it. Thanks for sharing and I think it is great to take a year to just play and experiment to find what you like.
Oh fab, I will go and watch you video now! How funny that I have only just got around to responding to this after I already uploaded a video on it! I think I will definitely have to try a standard Travelers Notebook and see how I feel about the dimensions, I worry that it will be too slim but they aren't much slimmer than an A6 are they? It is looking like my experimentation is not finished 😂🙈.
Again Stacy a really fantastic video thank you so much. Have you thought about a Leuchtturm B6 (forgive the spelling) for common place journaling? Also have you looked at the A6 day free hobonichi’s they might suit your needs better than the techo version? Would love a video on morning pages because again I hear them mentioned in lots of videos by people but I have no idea what they are. Once again you have left me hankering after a product I don’t yet own, my husband is going to block my TH-cam account soon, 😂
Morning pages are magical. Been doing them on and off since 2017 but been back in the practice since April. The practice comes from a creative named Julia Cameron and is in her book The Artist Way
So glad you enjoyed it and how funny that I am just managing to get back to you now after my new video on The Artist's Way! I have looked into so many different notebooks that I think I have given myself too much choice and confused myself even more! Either my next or the one after video will be about my choices I think so I can give myself a bit of pressure to decide or I won't have anything set up until January! I think I have narrowed it down to an A5/A6, I just need to find time to have a play around with some spreads on each size to decide. Haha! I am the same-I see things on here and immediately go online to find them!
Thank you for helping @abookabrewandcraftingtoo! I couldn't agree more that morning pages are magical! :)
New subscriber here! Loved finding out more about your commonplaces! Roland Allen spoke at JournalFest / PlannerFest/ StationeryFest this year and he was fascinating!
Thanks for subscribing, and welcome! No way?! I am so gutted! I would have loved to see him speak. I only found out about the 'fests' after they had happened already this year so I will definitely be there next time.
I'd love to know where you got the tarot stickers!
I got them from Etsy but can't find the exact ones now. I have just received more today actually from 'StickerMasterGB' on Etsy and they are slightly bigger but still good quality and I have some more smaller ones on the way from 'TwistedWicked' on Etsy and they have great reviews. The cat ones I got from Amazon. I hope that helps :)
I'm so happy to have found your channel!! I'm almost 50 and I too am studying with open source university to get my degree in computer science!!
Oh fab! How are you finding it?
Just received your video.
Hope you enjoyed it!
I think because Morning Pages tend to be the most handwriting I do, I like decent fountain pen paper. Rhodia composition books are not too expensive and have a decent page count. So many of my creative projects have come out of writing those pages! Looking forward to your perspective! 🙂
I couldn't agree more. Morning pages are truly magical. I have the opposite preference with paper. While, I love good quality paper for fountain pen writing, I can only write my morning pages in cheap dollar store spiral notebooks (black). The paper is what you would expect but I started writing in these cheap notebooks back in 2017 (before I started collecting fountain pens) and can't do morning pages in anything else. But I will check out the Rhodia books. Thank you!
@@christadavidart That's how I started back in 2003, and I didn't want to "waste" good paper. But I find that I enjoy the physical process of writing more, (and am more inclined to do it!) if writing is easy. I also have an old injury of a broken wrist, so it's rollerball and fountain pens for me!
That's so interesting! Thank you for sharing. I tried with good paper and fountain pens but I just find myself getting too prissy with them and paying more attention to my handwriting than what I am thinking. It just occurred to me when I was writing this that perhaps it is a scarecity mindset problem and I should maybe see if working on that makes a difference!
Same here, but I think I will look up the Rhodia notebooks too :)
When you said what you were interested in I knew that I had to subscribe.
Oh, I love that! Thank you!
How fascinating ☁️ 💫
Thank you ☺️
Thank you for the great video. I started OU on the 5th and have a recent fibro diagnosis too!! Can I ask, how do you find fibro affects your study? The brain fog is real!! xx
I'm glad you liked it 😊 Congratulations on starting-that's the main step! The brain fog is real here too! I just try to take notes as extensively as possible and try to give myself enough time to review the material properly before planning my TMA's. Communication with your tutor is imperative too, they are great at giving extensions and extra help when needed in my experience so use them. Let me know how you get on x
Thank you for all the good information. I’m just starting to get into this so your video was super helpful. 😊
Glad it was helpful! I will be doing more videos on commonplacing so hopefully they are useful too 😊
First time I’ve watched your channel. Loved your talk on Commonplacing. Subscribed. I love all things notebooks, pens, stationary. I’m going to order The Intellectual Devotional. Thanks for your channel ❤️🇨🇦
Oh yeay! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Thank you for subscribing 😊 I have some more stationery and planner videos coming soon so hopefully you enjoy those too! x
Tiago Forte really impressed me with the idea of setting up note-taking that's helpful for Future You to access quickly and easily. I do a hybrid where I take notes directly into my notebook, but then also design in MS Publisher things I want to print out. I find that I remember much more and am likely to be able to say, "As So-and-so said . . . ." if I write it down. It's also a great reference to go back to, and it's one kind of journal I don't mind anyone seeing--unlike Morning Pages! Just ordered the book on Notebooks. You may appreciate "Remarkable Books" and "Remarkable Diaries." Both are coffee table eye candy for journalers!
Oooh! Thank you for the recommendation-I will look for those now!! Yes, totally agree that it is so much easier to remember quotes etc when I have written them down and yes-morning pages are definitely not to be shown, unlike a commonplace! 😂
This was such a great explanation! I love the idea of an intellectual devotional. For a while, I was doing self-help mornings but this sounds like a great option for my mornings.
I am so glad you liked it! Yes, self-help and non-fiction used to be my morning go-to swell, but I find the intellectual devotionals a lighter way to start the day now 😂
Thank you for all the information on commonplacing! I also like the recommendation of the Intellectual Devotional series. I’m going to check it out. ❤
So glad you liked it 😊 I absolutely love the Intellectual Devotionals so I hope you do too. x
