Thanks for covering this town and providing your insights, both what you liked and what was disappointing. Many travel vlogs are too celebratory and raise expectations unrealistically.
Hannover is a great place I lived there for 10 years... now I live in Celle 50 kms North of Hannover, my wife and i visit Hannover 2 or 3 times a month.. it's definitely not a boring city..there's many things to see..
A great City, its worth visiting, not only because of the beer
No way the homeless problem is as bad as CA.
Sorry to disagree, because of many business trips, pleasure to see Dresden. You where there wrong season on warms spring day. Dresden is very Great and you missed the catholic church very close to the "new" church you visited I saw the rebuild through years of visit. Go to service on Sunday is wonderful experience, You also missed the museum very close to the mural with nice history, I found the east build downtown interesting. reading other comments I forgot the trip up river is must very interesting. I would say two day is min required.
Awesome video of the German market. Thanks….hello from Orlando
My city ❤️🇵🇹
One should add that those are not „taxes“ but contributions to statutory insurances, for medical, unemployment and pension. Which have all the benefits you mention. A tax is taken from any kind of income or financial transaction. But I know that many Americans refuse government involvement of any kind. So let them keep taking on second mortgages to pay the dental surgeon.
Thanks for the correction and for watching!
Was there last year. My German family took us there for a day trip. Love Lubeck. Great video. ❤🇦🇺🌻
How cool! Lübeck was such a magical Christmas market! Thanks for watching and commenting!
There was a burger with duck in goslar xmas market which was super super tasty
Yum! We missed that, so maybe we'll have to go back again in a few years😅
a very good description of your second visit to the Goslar Christmas Market. However I must admit that going over a Christmas market in the cold and rain is not one of my favourite pastimes, especially if one is with children, who do not notice the romantical halftimberd houses. Ha Perhaps next year your boy will be able to walk alone and enjoy the lights, the colours and the Christmas figures. I did not see you at the Lister Meile Christmas Market..perhaps on Montag...the last day. The Roncallli Christmas market in front of the train Station goes on until January.
It definitely wasn’t the best day to go weather-wise, but we had family visiting and it was the day that worked. We also thought Sunday (22nd) was the last day for the Lister Meile market? We’ve been there quite a few times, so maybe we just missed you!
Of course, this is not a real forest Christmas market, but it's nice.
Where do you recommend for a real Christmas forest? We've seen similar forests like these in different Christmas markets across northern Germany.
Bad timing, but then again, we shouldn't let it take away our way of life! Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas!
Nice! Happy Christmas from the Münsterland!🍻
@@thomasstehmann4277 Thank you!! Merry Christmas to you too! We’re hoping to get to Münster soon…🤔

❤ your video and and Lübeck. The fairy tale about the cash donkey is by the Brothers Grimm: "Tischlein deck dich"

I was just there last week visiting friends! It's such a beautiful city with wonderful Christmas markets! Be sure to walk up the St. Petri tower to get a 360 view of the city. I can't wait to go back.
We must have just missed each other! Unfortunately we didn't make it up the St. Petri tower, but we'll have to do that next time we're back in Lübeck. Thanks for the suggestion!

Prag je zaista očaravajući grad! Divno je vidjeti vaše prve dojmove i savjete o tome što raditi tamo. Sigurno će mnogima biti korisno za planiranje putovanja!
Thank you very much! We loved our time in Prague and hope to get back soon! So much more to see!
Where in Spain is this? Which comunidad? From Spanish friends etc...I have heard that Spanish education is not good / progressive. I think in Catalonia has the IB and French baccalaureate too.
We were working in la Comunidad de Madrid at the time of this video.
Fun fact: The gold pooping donkey is called "Goldesel" in the German fairy tale and that expression is also used anyone being used for their money. Mostly for men who are being taken advantage of by gold digging women, a not too smart Sugar Daddy basically.
Fascinating! Thanks for answering our question and more!
4:07 „We miss the street noise!“ LOL TH-cam‘s smartest at work again!
We miss the white noise from the street when our windows were open while living in Madrid. Germany overall is very quiet. To each their own though.
I get what he's talking about and like it too. The ambient street noise that is part and parcel of medium to high density cosmopolitan city living. If people want silence, they should go live in the countryside!
The Holsten-Gate was built to protect the city against attacks from the outside only and that meant that the town-fathers thought they could save money by having the walls built thicker towards the outside and thinner towards the town. Together with poor foundations the gate started to sink into the muddy ground right from the start. The same problem (too heavy spires on insufficient foundations) is visible when you have a look at Saint Mary's and the Cathedral. When the spires stood empty and burnt out after the war the chance was to save them by pumping them up again with huge hydrauclic presses.
That's so interesting and makes so much sense. Thanks for sharing that bit of history!
Soft surface in Lübeck
Thank you!!
Finally someone who resume the Lübeck Christmas Market
We hope we did it justice! We loved our time in Lübeck and hope to return!
Lack of drinking fountains, common problem in a lot of Europe.
From our experience, yes, but some countries have more than others.
However, they have no problem if you’re an illegal’s! 😡
An excellent report about Lübeck. Too bad the weather was not so lovely. Your historical facts were all correct, so no "pearls of wisdom" from me this time :-)
Thank you for watching as always and for the kind words! We're glad you enjoyed!
In Esslingen in Baden Württemberg is a good one
@@torbenschoner9306 thank you!!
Yes, visit the small ones!
Those seem to do much better with handmade goods!
Love all the history you included! It's also very interesting to see so much brick work. We definitely aren't used to that here in Bavaria.
Northern Germany lacks natural stone from quarries. We only have those round hard stones that are found in the fields and at the Baltic shore. Sandstone is not there at all. Granite was imported from Norway in the Middle Ages and bricks were made from local clay.
Thank you! I think the brick work in the north has become normal for us, but not so much the religious iconography in the south😅

Well in my village there is a christmas market with a lot of handcraft
@@bmkmymaggots there definitely are in smaller cities and villages, but not so much in the city centers
Thank you for inviting us to a virtual visit in Lübeck. When I lived in Kiel, Lübeck was always my favorite short trip; no other city in Germany is quite like it. I hope you can go back at other times and experience all the other things always there - boutiques, galleries, cafés, etc. I wish I could try the Marzipan punch and Glühwein. Leipzig also has a fairy tale forest; it's comforting to see these Christmas markets taking cultural history seriously and passing it on to children.
We absolutely loved Lübeck and still really want to visit Kiel! Thanks for watching and commenting!
That was 30 years ago a little diffrent
Thanks for watching!
I rented a bike at the train station and went on the bike path along the Elbe river. In a few minutes you can’t see the city at all! I happened into a restaurant for lunch that turned out to be Friedrich Schiller’s regular spot! I loved Dresden!
Renting a bike and riding along the Elbe sounds like a great plan for our next time in Dresden! Thanks for watching!
Trdelník is not traditional at all. Most Czechs do not ever eat it as we have much better pastry like "buchty", "koláče", "šátečky", "koblihy" etc. There are many traditional bakeries around the town, where you can buy very cheap and delicious traditional pastry. Great as a small snack for a train journey.
@@CZpersi Thank you for answering our question! It was good, but we had much tastier things in Czechia during our time there, some of which you mentioned above.
Wow what a sandwich. You guys are making me hungry.

@@Tet-Offensive1968 Thank you for watching and commenting!
Oh and the Märchen with the donkey is called "Tischlein deck dich" and there is another called Goldesel in german...
Thank you!! We had never heard of it before!
@@MYTravelBF The fairy tale: "Tischlein deck dich, Esel streck dich, Knüppel aus dem Sack" ("Table, set yourself, donkey stretch yourself, stick out of the sack") is by Ludwig Bechstein from Thuringia.
@@wolsch3435 thank you!
@@MYTravelBF Neither the Brothers Grimm nor Ludwig Bechstein wrote the fairy tale. They edited and published it and thus made it known to a broad German public.
Why is he following around that woman??
@@StrawberryKitten 😅😅😅
Great video! I love Lübeck, marzipan and northern German Backsteingotik architecture! That market in the hospital is now on my to do list!
Thank you so much!! We really loved our time in Lübeck and want to come back in summer!
👍🎄
They are ok the countryside, luv! My colleague used to be one. Their WHOLE house where full of gloves, scarfs and socks, his wife made! Would be sold out to soon for a big Christmas market + prices for your stand are way to high, so these actual local homemade produced once, are usually in little villages up to 15k people id say. I get honey, jam, socks, scarfs, pastries, meat and sweets there, but also got it all year arround. Just not in one place then obviously. So I’ll love to stack up the pantry before the holidays.
The little villages or neighborhood markets definitely have the better handmade goods compared to city centers!

@@rubin_faustsorry my Englisch is Not so gut. 😉.
I’m pretty sure water fountains wouldn’t be used much by the majority of people here in Germany. One of the reasons for this is that many people never drink still water because they don’t like the taste of it. Sparkling water is definitely a lot more popular in Germany.
That makes sense, but we still aren't fans for the sparkling water. But hey, Germans at our gym even drink it when exercising😅
