Synclavier Regen: FM-ing a Classic Fairlight Sample
Applying FM to classic 8-bit Fairlight sample via MPE for per-note expression on the Synclavier Regen.
Applying FM to samples and waveforms often gives more oomph to the sound, more of an edge and interesting harmonics. In the case of this breathy sample, a pleasant overdrive. The nice thing about additive synthesis…you are adding to the sound, adding harmonics etc., not filtering them out.

I only mention this at the end of the video, but the way I hear it in the original, the filter in this sound is wide open. The character comes mainly from the combination of pulse waves, detuned unison, and oscillator sync. I focus mainly on the oscillator, unison and glide settings but the envelope settings are also quite simple...fast attack and release, sustain all the way up. Some tips on c...

I enjoyed spending some quality time with this instrument. My intention in this vid is to focus on the sound character of the Trigon-6 oscillators and filter (both 4- and 2-pole), with different oscillator volume settings and filter cutoff/resonance settings. After each change (osc volume or filter resonance), the track volume is adjusted in order to keep the overall level somewhat consistent. ...

      @paulschilling2996 Hi Paul, yes my friend I couldn't decide between them so ended up getting Both:). I'm absolutely loving the Hydrasynth Deluxe, she's a beautiful synthesizer, very impressed indeed, for sound design it's great, so many options available. I think for it's price it's unbeatable. ASM have produced a really stunning synthesizer here, I tip my hat to them for sure.

    • @maydaygoingdown5602
      @maydaygoingdown5602 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@paulschilling2996 The iridium keyboard version...yeah very different compared to the Hydrasynth deluxe, tonally and to work with. Like the Hydrasynth deluxe it can be as complex as you like or as simple as you like, both offer endless sound design. I'd say the Iridium is definitely quicker to use for that, I really like how they have designed the on screen pages and info, just like the Hydrasynth Deluxe the modulation routes are too many if anything so you hav 1:37 e lots and lots of choices. The keybed is very nice, very short travel. However, the Poly Aftertouch on the Hydrasynth is better..feels and affects the sound much more and more a natural feel. But yes 2 different synths for sure, I do however wish ASM had made a better keybed action though, it can feel a bit loose and clunky..do you feel that with you're unit? You can do more with the iridium due to its different synth engines and on board sampler and sequencer, but I have to say, the Hydrasynth Deluxe puts a bigger smile on my face, I honestly love that synth. The Novation Summit is here too along with the Polybrute and Rev 2. The Summit is absolutely Fantastic, amazing tonally and great to work with. I actually prefer it over the Polybrute, I'm thinking of exchanging or selling the Polybrute, I'm just not a fan of Arturias Steiner parker filter, it's ladder filter is ok but just OK, the filters on the Rev 2 are way nicer.

    The sound of this instrument is honestly amazing. It feels very good when you play music with good quality instruments right. I have had the opportunity to buy and sell many really good keyboards, but I never had a CS-80. I did get to play a CS-80 several times and experiment a little with its programmer section, in an instrument store when I was a teenager. A vendor scolded me HAHAHAHAHAHA! Anyway, I carry one on my computer everywhere I've worked. It is extremely warm and it really feels warm when you work with it. It sounds freaking fat and powerful, like she said! Now, thanks for the video! The original CS-80l was around $6,000.00 to $7,000.00 range back in the '70. The emulation that you have here is cool and sound almost the same as the original, but is also too expensive considering what it is. But anyway it is a good instruments to have if you are going to make money with it. I wish you make lots of money playing and making music with it. Cheers. I know my emojis cannot cause any damage to you..., Cheers again! and again ............. This freaking emojis are so stupid. really boring Cheers again, and again, and again!
