    Great video Steve. Do you use Molykote 111 on the pin connectors for the Nerd or HUD? If so, how often and how much are you using? That's what the manual recommends, but didn't see exactly where I should be applying it, how often and how much to use. Similar to Triblolube, I assume less is more (shiny not slimy), just not sure if it should be on the pins themselves or just on the rubber portion of the pins, etc.

    I’ve always wanted to scuba and just did my first session for the course! It isn’t coming easy to me even though I thought my enthusiasm would be enough to make it feel like second nature. I’m a bit afraid of the things that can go wrong. What do you do if you inhale water accidentally because the regulator gets knocked out?

    • @divecurrent
      @divecurrent 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The theoretical certification/qualifications are not my issue. There’s nothing wrong with advanced divers or any other diver that is not a tech diver. The idea is that the person would do something like this, but that being said the mentality that an advanced diver is automatically assumed to be an idiot lol I don’t agree with. Safe diving Ivory.

    Shutoff valve I think it's to close the intake of diluent, I don't see how would create a problem with CO2, just see a problem if you go deeper and the counter lungs get squeezed.

    • @hugomendes2578
      @hugomendes2578 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok, after I see the all clip I understand. You think there is a problem with the gas in the loop, you take all the gas out by sucking, and when you come back to the loop, because the shutoff valve is closed, you have nothing to breath. That going to full O2, JESUS!!!! You should have your bailout with you, just take the regulator and breath, you would have no problems!

    • @hugomendes2578

      See the all postage. He thought the gas on the loop was bad, so he take all gas from the loop out. When he tried to breath again, because shutoff valve was closed, he got nothing to breath! So he flushed pure O2 to the loop at 30 m!!! This was really dangerous, but not because of CO2 or lack of gas.

    I needed this as a reminder. I suffer from panic attacks and my husband and I dive Lake Mead to get me comfy before our dive in Cozumel next week. My favorite hand signal is ✋ 😂. It gives me a few seconds to ground myself when I’m uncomfortable about my surroundings, in this case it was the poor visibility and temp changes that I wasn’t used too. I was able to enjoy the dive.

    Steve, this video is well done and your insight is much appreciated. My son, Jonathan (Basil Grown Underwater diver) and I will be at the quarry in a few weeks for a weekend of diving to tend to Jason. Jonathan adopted him this year and he wants to make sure that he looks his best for Gilboa divers when the season begins. I love the off / early season diving there due to the amazing visibility. I've had the pleasure of diving with you in the past and Jonathan is hoping to dive with you and your son this year either at Gilboa or Crusty's. Keep up the great work with the videos! We have both enjoyed watching them throughout the winter!! We've stayed local during the off-season and a week and a half ago the local quarry that we dove had decent viz with temps in the low 40's at 30 feet. Jonathan is loving his new drysuit and he is very thankful to Chris & Jerra from Mars Scuba / Steel City Scuba for finding one that fits a small-framed 13 year old. He's also grateful for the instructors at Mars Scuba / Steel City Scuba for training him to properly and safely use his drysuit. He's excited to now be able to join me and the rest of his dive buddies in the water throughout the entire year. See you at the quarry!!

    Loved the video. I have been to Gilboa once, I live in Tennessee but have family in Ohio. I actually changed dive shop and from PADI to SSI for the ego thing you discussed in this video. I made Master diver in my first 9 months and am very proud of it. My goal is to be a Dive Guide with SSI. I want to be able to help new divers any way I can so they don’t have to deal with the egos. Thanks for the video and laying it out the way you did.
