1938 Dodge retrieval mission
มุมมอง 10Kหลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I pick up a 1938 Dodge Brothers truck from a local farm, and deliver it to the new owner at the Dubbo truck show. I also took my White 1955 tractor once I got it started, and I’ve included some photos of trucks at the show too.
Carting house sections with a V8 Mack
มุมมอง 2.1K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I put together snippets of videos and photos from the last couple of months carting house sections to northern and western NSW. The work has kept me pretty busy, and has made it hard to get new material together to make a video for the channel, so I thought I’d give you an insight into the work I’ve been doing. Thanks for having a look guys 🙏🏻
Stuck injector pump. Mack 350hp. Will it be ok? Is it usable? #mechanic #macktrucks
มุมมอง 2.4K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I attempt to free up a stuck injector pump off a Mack 350 4 valve 6 cylinder engine. If I can resurrect the stuck pump, I’m hoping to fit it onto a Valueliner engine that has had a recent pump failure. Wish me luck!! Thanks Sutto for lending me the truck initially, and for allowing some footage and photos.

Take the silencer off, 3-4 foot tall 5" stack! youll thank me later! These 743 and 855 inch big sixes sound lovely/NASTY especially when naturally aspirated. Got one in a mid 60s letourneau/wabco 777 mechanical grader parked on a rock in the woods, probably similar to this galion. I gotta revive it one day...
I used to drive this same tractor when I was a kid on the farm in the late 60's ad early 70's. Was a great work horse. Do you know if any other models/breeds also had those agricultural disc brake system?
Did you have a super major on the farm Steve? Or do you mean you drove this tractor? It has disc brakes on the front axle but it’s been disconnected for a long time by the look of it
G'day Dave. You've done it now bloke. You'll have to clean the rest of the old girl up now to match the new filter cobber.😂🤠
You might be right mate, it’s due for a decent clean and polish
That's not a bad idea. My old Fordson crane is leaking pretty bad from the fuel filter I might have to do the same
It’s an easy filter assembly to find mate. Ryco and Donaldson and all the filter manufacturers make a similar unit. It seems to be a good fix and it fitted straight onto the bolt pattern of the old housing.
Hey Dave ,pretty solid old unit ,nice job on the filter upgrade,as you have said can get those filter replacements anywhere and a good cheap option, keep up the good work 👍🇦🇺
Thanks Frank 🙏🏻 Yes I reckon it’s a good fix, and I’ve been using it this week with no leaks or problems so far. Hopefully it stays that way.
i recall cranes like this in bundaberg back years ago they used to use them at the frames and trusses place and other places.
It’s hard to find any information or literature about these old cranes, but there seemed to be plenty of them around. Another good Australian company gone.
Dave the Hats sound like a plan sun smart and stylish 😅😅😅😅 Kym Adelaide
They are great, dependable trucks!! I have lots of parts for Mack engines.,
Always very interesting Dave thanks for sharing 🦘
Gday Dave, that housing certainly don’t look outa place, them cranes were very popular in there day to, there’s a good embroidery company down here I use and good prices if you need mate, top job, cheers
Thanks for sharing Dave! Neat fix on the fuel system, looks like it could've been original👌 Hopefully no more diesel patches when you're lifting about truck stuff. Cheers, Mike
Used a variety of these old wobbly's to load grape bins by myself back in the day, jeez, ya'd be up and down like a strippers knickers un hookin each bin usually 9 on a load, good job changin the old filters over!!👍
Nice fuel system upgrade Dave, she's running good now. Cheers from Canada!
The last time I drove this Oliver Oct 2005,as it was in perfect condition then as it was purchased from my Dad's best friend auction in 2001, and had the motor recondition by a mechinc that i had that i'd know since a kid, we had it on a haul bin thats why there was a support frame to the drawbar as you'll see replaced bolts etc,and that steel tubing canopy was constructed by my father,.once he's passing this tractor was parked up to rot discusting each time i'd passed by our old farm beside that shed with tyres half flate for years,.all that machinery you could see was my Mother's, not a single cent was paid by my inlaws as they only got the land given to them,.no legal documents of a bill of tranfer of all her equipment/machery was on paper on her passing,.and they had scamed me our my old 2-150 which was on my mother's will too.
It may be too obvious but doesn’t the fuel tank have a shut off valve you could close so at least it doesn’t leak down when it’s not running.
That’s what I’ve done for now Geoffrey, I’ve turned a tap off at the filter housing. Because it’s a gravity fed fuel system, having a full tank probably isn’t a good idea.
What a Sweetheart woooow za
It sure is mate. It’s a beauty.
You could use the waist oil in a waste oil burner next winter.
Yes mate it will be ok for something like that 🙏🏻
Glad to see that you're preserving these magnificent hard working machines. Because the young ones of today just don't wanna know about them. All they see them as is scrap or super modd pullers only.
Thanks Dazz, I like saving the old stuff mate. I hate seeing old machines get scrapped.
Awesome video Dave, looking forward to the next installment. From kiwi land.
Thanks Alan, I appreciate mate. The next part won’t be far away 🙏🏻
The 2155 😢Doac
The award winning 2155 may need some significant repairs
The water down oil will burn fine mixed with diesel pour it in the tractor's tank and use it, old diesels anit fussy
You make a pretty good point there mate
Wow! Just to the part of the video where you're draining the oil diesel mix. How did so much diesel end up in the oil?
There’s a seal in the injector pump that is supposed to keep oil and fuel in their respective areas. It must have failed, even though it was replaced about 4 years ago. The fuel tank is above the injector pump, and the tank was full so there is a bit of weight against that seal. That’s where my thinking takes ma me mate
Gday Dave, How are you? Spring is in the air 😂 All the best Roland
G’day Roly, haha spring is definitely in the air 😂 hope you’re going well mate
Spring has sprung!! Onya Dave!!
It’s here mate
@@oldrigsdownunder7301 Sure is here. 35 yesterday and to be 36 today.
Great video Dave, pity about the mechanical inexactatudes, but as you say, old gear, beautiful big old jiggers, weight built in to them, dare say a rare bird in Australia, let alone 1 with factory linkage, would be great to see her pullin a scarifier around, she ran silky smooth at idle 👍 keep it safe Dave!
It’s a beautiful tractor Damien, it’s a beautiful smooth running big hooer. There is a short video on my channel of it pulling a scarifier. Yes, with old worn out gear there will always be problems. The biggest problem is probably the fact that is doesn’t get used enough. Thanks again mate 🙏🏻
@oldrigsdownunder7301 Oh, okay cobber, will try and find it, not real good on this interweb stuff, was brought up to just rub horse shit on everything 🤦♂️
Thanks for the video Dave! Shame the oil viscosity wasn't what it's supposed to be😅 hope the oil level doesn't rise quickly again. Did a quite a few of those lug type terminals in my last job, had an electro hydraulic crimper though, with interchangable jaws, worked a treat👌 Cheers, Mike
G’day Mike, thanks for watching mate. Yeah it’s a bit disappointing that we have fuel trying to identify as oil 😂 Hopefully I can get to the bottom of that problem. I like the sound of your electric/hydraulic crimper, what a ripper.
Gday Dave, that was a big 15ltrs, I had the same issue with a 6BT Cummins in an 855 Case Traxcavator a couple of weeks ago, top job mate, cheers
G’day Matty how are you travelling mate? Yeah it was quite a substantial 15 litres! What was the trouble on the Cummins? Injector tube? On a positive note, at least the inside of the engine block will be clean now 😂🤦🏻♂️
@@oldrigsdownunder7301 the machine had sat for about 4 odd years facing down hill, fuel tank is at the back so gravity didn’t help, drained the sump, new oil fired up and see what it does
The Oliver started right up once you got to that point mate . It did have a sump full of oil-fuel mix it appears . Thanks for the video Dave, always good to see what going on at your place. Our season change doesnt happen until 21 Sept up here. Almost through another Arizona summer ! Scott 🌵
Thanks Scott, I appreciate it mate. August and early September can be up and down, but mid September starts to warm up at this end of the country. In Queensland they’re already having 37° days so that’s a good 17° above our current tops here. The big Oliver does run nicely when it’s going. It looks like that pump will need repairing though. I might get the injectors done at the same time
Got to love playing with your toys and they just want to make it hard for you cobber 😂. Thanks Dave enjoyed it.🤠
That’s what it seems like sometimes Daryl 😂🤦🏻♂️ you’ve gotta take the good with the bad though I guess
Morris b. David
The old tractor needed some "start ya bastard" (ether) down the air cleaner. 😂 Some beautiful old rigs in the vid, well done.
Thanks Colin 🙏🏻. I don’t like using that stuff, but you’re right, it needed a snort. It wasn’t even a cold morning so the cranking speed is where I will focus some repair time I reckon.
Very good 😊, you got my hopes up a bit early on when you heading towards a B Model that looked like it might be nice, but as happens so many times in truck videos, you change direction and went away from it. I thought you were heading back towards after your second left hand turn but not to be. I understand that trucks over 25 years old qualify but enything new than CH or a Superliners looks too new tome.(getting to old) 😢
There was plenty of nice Macks there to look at Chris, hard to know where to start and stop. I guess the scene is changing with each generation that comes through. B models were everywhere in 2000 but now Superliners are the flavour of the month. My CHR work truck is eligible for club rego in NSW now as it’s 30 years old.
Looks like a 36 grille !!
It could well be a 36 mate, I was only going off what the original owner told me. His father picked it up in 1938 or 39, but it could’ve been sitting around for a year or so before then.
Beautiful rigs little brother awesome history
Thanks Robert
@oldrigsdownunder7301 awesome videos little brother keep them rolling lol
@oldrigsdownunder7301 awesome channel little brother
Awesome work of art little brother from another country down under wow that Ole gal is awesome
Yeah mate it’s a beauty, you don’t see too many in that original condition
@oldrigsdownunder7301 do you have a plan for her yet lol
Wow! Thats beautiful!!! Great revival brother. Love that old truck. Thanks for sharing. ARCO - MN OUTLAW CUSTOMS ( outlaw edge TH-cam channel )
Thanks mate, I’m glad you enjoyed it. The Dodge is so original, very cool 😎
Mate can we see more of the F model cabs in the back ground and other macks and more old tractors ..thanks good video..real nice ultra liner you have there.
G’day David, there are a few videos with some of the F models in them, but I can make another video of them to run through the differences
Great video as usual Dave👍 nice variety and that V8 does sound good👌 the 1955 put up a fight to finally get started! All the best! Cheers, Mike
Thanks Mike, the 1955 was definitely stubborn. I’d better sort it out before the next show.
She’s a thing of beauty mate I hope it’s in a the family for many more generations. Question, where does the name flinstone come from?
Thanks Brad, I hope it hangs around for a while too. The Flintstone nickname came from the resemblance to Fred Flintstone’s car, with the steel front R models having a square and rugged look after the smooth and rounded B models.
@@oldrigsdownunder7301ah okay so it is a nick name and not something from the dealers. Thanks suspected it had something to do with the steel front
Nice work mate, loved it
Glad you liked it Brad 🙏🏻
Give her some Hank and wiley son.
Haha yeah mate it should always be the very first thing you do 😂😂
Good video son. She’s a time capsule that old girl. I was a bit concerned that she might bounce and pull the door in those straps but you answered that🤣. Some brakes and tyres you could poke some historic rent on her. Magnificent stuff
It’s a ripper old truck mate. The bonnet was a out of shape and the rear latches wouldn’t hold but once it rode for half an hour they pulled into shape a bit and I was able to fix those catches and remove the strap. I ended up putting a small strap through the cab and around the back, so it rode well in the end with no damage.
@@oldrigsdownunder7301 looked like that show is getting more gear also. There are a lot more getting on the road that I certainly haven’t seen. Some great restos
There were some great rigs there son, trucks and tractors. I wish I took some more photos. I’m toying with the idea of putting a slide show together for a quick video
@@oldrigsdownunder7301 yeah I’d certainly be interested in having a look. I saw some other short videos on it and it looked great
I’ll have a bit of a look and see what I can put together son
Hey up, dog gone your truck is sweet sounded so good pulling on the dirt from the property lovely low V8 diesel goodness
Thanks John 🙏🏻 The sound of a V8 Mack is hard to beat in my opinion
Definately a 1936 model Dodge.
Thanks David, I don’t know my Dodges, the previous owner thought it was a 38 but that was before his time.
G'day Dave, Thanks for the vid mate. Enjoyed very bit of it cobber. Love to see all these old rigs all loving restored and shiny and looking new.🤠
G’day Daryl thanks for watching mate, I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was a good show, lots of variety. Old, new, restored, unrestored, and lots of brands on display.
That is a great looking Dodge truck, The steering wheel is on the wrong side.
G'day Dave, Is that Graeme's place?
G’day Roly how are you mate? As the crow flies, it’s probably less than 10 kms from Graham’s place. It’s between Milbrulong and The Rock
Hello from Tasmania. l would love that 1955 Oliver. I have an Oliver 80 about 1945. Thanks Kerry.
G’day Kerry thanks for the comment mate. The 1955 is a pretty rare tractor, I’ve only seen a 6 or so out here. The 80s and 90s seem to pop up a bit, they must’ve sold a few of them in Australia.
It was moved in style.
Probably the fastest it’s moved for a while mate
@@oldrigsdownunder7301 Yesa
I just started to comment on thr straps though the doors to the trailer not good idea.
Gday Dave, the sound brings back memories every time, looked to be a good turnout at the show and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Dodge in that original condition before, top episode mate, cheers
It’s a beautiful noise Matty, I love the way it just bops along all day. The Dubbo show was great, lots of good variety, there was plenty more that I didn’t get photos of. I might do another video just on the show. The Dodge was a ripper, only 46,000 miles on it from new, and with the original family until a few days ago.
He’s certainly all over it Matty
Great looking 39 Dodge Dave. Your V8 hauler Mack went well too. Funny how the 1955 knew we was all watching...8^) But like most old tractors she went after a good dose of profanity and a few more volts. Nice load for Dubbo! Some nice machines at the show, looks like a good one. Cheers from Canada.
It was a beautiful old Dodge Jeff, the new owner reckons he will try and get it running in the next couple of weeks. With a running engine and some new tyres, you could go for a drive in it. The old 1955 will get a bit of work done on it soon mate, that was a cry out for help I reckon 😂 It was a great show, lots of space there and a great variety of equipment. Thanks for watching mate 🙏🏻
