  • In this video I start a relatively simple job on the 2155 Oliver only to find more than I bargained for.
    One of those 5 minute jobs that took a couple of hours 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Glad to see that you're preserving these magnificent hard working machines.
    Because the young ones of today just don't wanna know about them.
    All they see them as is scrap or super modd pullers only.

      Thanks Dazz, I like saving the old stuff mate. I hate seeing old machines get scrapped.

    Thanks for the video Dave! Shame the oil viscosity wasn't what it's supposed to be😅 hope the oil level doesn't rise quickly again. Did a quite a few of those lug type terminals in my last job, had an electro hydraulic crimper though, with interchangable jaws, worked a treat👌
    Cheers, Mike

      G’day Mike, thanks for watching mate. Yeah it’s a bit disappointing that we have fuel trying to identify as oil 😂
      Hopefully I can get to the bottom of that problem.
      I like the sound of your electric/hydraulic crimper, what a ripper.

      G’day Matty how are you travelling mate?
      Yeah it was quite a substantial 15 litres! What was the trouble on the Cummins? Injector tube?
      On a positive note, at least the inside of the engine block will be clean now 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

      @@oldrigsdownunder7301 the machine had sat for about 4 odd years facing down hill, fuel tank is at the back so gravity didn’t help, drained the sump, new oil fired up and see what it does

    The last time I drove this Oliver Oct 2005,as it was in perfect condition then as it was purchased from my Dad's best friend auction in 2001, and had the motor recondition by a mechinc that i had that i'd know since a kid, we had it on a haul bin thats why there was a support frame to the drawbar as you'll see replaced bolts etc,and that steel tubing canopy was constructed by my father,.once he's passing this tractor was parked up to rot discusting each time i'd passed by our old farm beside that shed with tyres half flate for years,.all that machinery you could see was my Mother's, not a single cent was paid by my inlaws as they only got the land given to them,.no legal documents of a bill of tranfer of all her equipment/machery was on paper on her passing,.and they had scamed me our my old 2-150 which was on my mother's will too.

    The Oliver started right up once you got to that point mate . It did have a sump full of oil-fuel mix it appears . Thanks for the video Dave, always good to see what going on at your place. Our season change doesnt happen until 21 Sept up here. Almost through another Arizona summer ! Scott 🌵

      August and early September can be up and down, but mid September starts to warm up at this end of the country. In Queensland they’re already having 37° days so that’s a good 17° above our current tops here.
      The big Oliver does run nicely when it’s going. It looks like that pump will need repairing though. I might get the injectors done at the same time

    Wow! Just to the part of the video where you're draining the oil diesel mix.
    How did so much diesel end up in the oil?

    • @oldrigsdownunder7301
      @oldrigsdownunder7301  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      There’s a seal in the injector pump that is supposed to keep oil and fuel in their respective areas. It must have failed, even though it was replaced about 4 years ago. The fuel tank is above the injector pump, and the tank was full so there is a bit of weight against that seal. That’s where my thinking takes ma me mate

    It may be too obvious but doesn’t the fuel tank have a shut off valve you could close so at least it doesn’t leak down when it’s not running.

    • @oldrigsdownunder7301
      @oldrigsdownunder7301  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That’s what I’ve done for now Geoffrey, I’ve turned a tap off at the filter housing. Because it’s a gravity fed fuel system, having a full tank probably isn’t a good idea.

    Great video Dave, pity about the mechanical inexactatudes, but as you say, old gear, beautiful big old jiggers, weight built in to them, dare say a rare bird in Australia, let alone 1 with factory linkage, would be great to see her pullin a scarifier around, she ran silky smooth at idle 👍 keep it safe Dave!

    • @oldrigsdownunder7301
      @oldrigsdownunder7301  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It’s a beautiful tractor Damien, it’s a beautiful smooth running big hooer.
      There is a short video on my channel of it pulling a scarifier.
      Yes, with old worn out gear there will always be problems. The biggest problem is probably the fact that is doesn’t get used enough.
      Thanks again mate 🙏🏻
